As to critisism, you want an attcking football, you will get the defense problems. Even the best of the best concede due to imperfect defence. That is because the personnel you have for attcking style know how to play with the ball. Without the ball, you have to teach still on how to play often with little to no success. Nuno will do that, but I doubt that someone like Ndombele will dramatically improve in it.
This is a team sport. Entire team to attack, the entire team to defend. The footballers that good at both (like Thiago or Ramos or Kane or entire Bayern) are rear and very expensive. Once assembled they will make a champion team. Spurs cannot afford to buy an established two-way performers, like City or now Chelsea do. We can only hope to grow them from the kids with promice we buy on the cheap.
Ndombele purshase was a mistake, therefore. He would be a good last peace for the already rebuilt team that can afford a defensive mistakes from an excellent dribbler. He should be sold now that we are in rebuild. Levy pushased him out of desperation due to folded Fernandez deal in the hope it will help Poch to right the ship. Well, it didn't. It took too much attention from Mourinho and now Tanguey is a burden for Nuno as well. I, obviously, wish Nuno a succes with Ndombele, but he is 25 already, too old of a dog for new tricks. All he can do is being disciplined. Discipline is good, but have never helped a lot to anyone. It can't supplant a talent.

What a performance of a first half .Pub team .Please someone buy out Enic and get rid of levy.The most embarrassing I have been watching spurs for years and years

The Ars match.....
Expecting Ndombele to do the hard work that comes with playing in a 433 does not quite make sense to me. He is skilled with the ball but when he does not have the ball then he runs as if he was carrying a backpack weighing 45kgs. Lumbering about.
Midfield looked very very bad in the first half & allowed/enabled some dangerous counter-attacks for Ars.

2nd half was better. Maybe Kane should have gotten a penalty. No idea how Xakha escaped being carded & same about Aubamayang. But Xakha nothing? Slapping Ndombele in the face then wrestling him down to stop a counter.

Gil wants to play and he has the skills to play. Start Gil from now on. Let Ndombele play in the ECL and when desperate in other matches.
Seen a few instances now when a senior player blames a junior player for a mistake made by the senior player. Not happy about that and I believe it is bad for team-spirit.

 

Can any body really believe what happened to day and how do we get through till January.Deli Ali and Ndombele should only play in the European games as they are both total liabilities.Please don’t come on here and praise the skill of the waster Ndombele because he should be ashamed of his fitness as should the spurs staff whose job it is to get him fit.How can you compete when your midfield is the two wasters I have mentioned and Hojbjerg who thinks he is a centre half.Our midfield today was emptied at times and there was no effort to get back.Defensively we must try Romero and Rodon or go for 3 at the back.A manager with some imagination might try some thing different and move either Emmerson or Dier into midfield because the must be better than Ali andN dombele and might add some steel.Gil must play and at the moment I would play Son Moura and Gil and sit Kane on the bench then maybe we will get someone in the opposition penalty area.Forget Levy’s bullshit about attacking football as it ain’t going to happen.We will revert todefensive garbage and if so we may have well kept Mourino.I predict Nuno gone by Christmas and we will be looking for another cheap option.Levy probably is delirious today because he made money on the big fight'Much more important than the football

 

The first half performance was disgraceful. Lack of effort and shape with CM missing for the bulk of the half. We made a very poor Arsenal side look half decent. Second half wasn’t much better in all honesty, we only had the perception of improvement because they fell away…not because we were any good.
Kane needs to be sold so we can reinvest, I really hope that City still need a CF in January or no one will want him.
Alli shouldn’t play again
Nuno will be lucky to get through October at this rate.

Can’t believe that we spent 93 million on 2 defenders and a winger and all 3 were on the bench today while 2 defenders reviled on this website. Dier andSanchez both played.Just seen Nunos press conference and the man talks absolute rubbish .He is totally out of his depth.Recomended by our Director of football.Does not fill you with confidence for the future.We can’t sack Nuno this early but I really fear for the total lack of understanding this man has .By the way arses right back wanted to come to us and we would not pay the fee and today he was excellent.Another Levy **** up.Shows how bad we are when THFC and I agree wholeheartedly

 

Strangely enough the midfield that played the first half and did it well against Chelsea played so poorly against Ars.
The goal that was preceded by a mistake from Kane came when Kane had dropped down into midfield and a midfielder had pushed up higher on the pitch possibly to fill the position vacated by Kane. A midfielder should (would?) have known not to try something difficult there.
As is then the quality of players aren't good enough for that kind of switching and I'd prefer Spurs to master a formation before trying to jazz it up by switching around.

Gil looks ready for serious amount of minutes and Ndombele doesn't seem to want many minutes so out of the two then play the one who wants it. Hopefully Lo Celso can get to play, if he doesn't come good then the list of most expensive signings for Spurs looks bad:

I remember years of getting abuse on this site for calling out how poorly ran we are by ENIC and that the Stadium wouldn't change a thing.

I don’t believe any manager worth his salt would let the chairman pick the team although how Ali Sancho and Dier keep getting picked is beyond my imagination..A good manager would have seen the trouble being caused by keeping Kane .We could have gone for Toney who looks up for a fight and would have fitted in with Son.How much longer can the club afford the idiocy of Levy trying to be the big man and messing up to keep his ego intact.I believe most chairman won’t tolerate him and this means we will get overcharged for transfers to counter his ludicrous demand(ie) Winks for40 million.I have never seen so poor press after a match in all the years I have supported spurs.Ludicrous as it may seem we would probably do better under Allardice who would have a system.Nuno admitted he picked wrong team for his plan if he ever had one.
