Why Spurs fans are in for a summer of pain

My problem with your post is that football is a business, and you expect Lewis to be a "sugar daddy". Chelsea are £1 billion in debt to to Abramovitch, If he were arrested by Putin in Moscow tomorrow, and that debt was called in Chelsea would drop faster than Leeds United wearing lead boots.

As far as Enic's interests are concerned, you need to take a practical look at this. Until the recent TV deal we have spent the last ten years bouncing along on profits/losses in the region of £5 million pa. I would doubt if you amalgamated all the P&L for the that period if we made £20 mill. At the time we were quoted on the LSE, we were valued at £130 million. If you went to your bank manager tomorrow and told him that you wanted to spend £130 mill on a business that averages less than £2mill pa in profits, he would think you are crazy.

But why shouldn't ENIC make a profit. Football is the only business I know where many customers don't believe that the business owner should be able to make a profit. I know several people who spend over £100 per week in the pub. Even if the landlord were a compulsive gambling drug fiend with a taste for prostitutes, I don't think any of my friends would be concerned that he was making a profit.

Look I have supported Spurs for over thirty years and was at Oldham back in 96 supporting the team as they survived relegation so you don't need to tell me about being a fan of the club.
I haven't been for some time since all my loyalty points were scrapped as yet another example of the low esteem Mr Levy holds the real fans in. stub Hub is another example of that which also explains why the atmosphere at the lane is utter ****.
Levy has brought stability off the field and yes, we have risen up the league to an extent. But let's for a moment look at the new stadium. The opportunity for a stadium to increase revenue to the level of top four clubs was there. It was in our sights. So what do ENIC do? Settle for a stadium with only a 56 thousand capacity. Considering we are often told there are over thirty thousand fans on the season ticket waiting list, my brother one of them, this shows a lack of football sense.
We have a billionaire owner. Okay, not on the level of some but we could, without much pain offer higher wages to get better talent, but I agree that there has to be a degree of prudence.
I have grown up with Spurs as a strong cup team, something they don't show very often now. I don't see why we can't expect Spurs to challenge for the title. Maybe not this year but Spurs in my opinion is a Huge club. Maybe if the chairman stopped hiring and firing every bloody manager then we could have stability and get somewhere further in the league.
It's all very well bringing through the youth, something I have always advocated , but I want to see them play! Yedlin looks a great project so play him.
    Same goes for Dele Ali.
I want to see Spurs succeed and those 'fans' that think 6th is brilliant and to be celebrated are the very puppets that Levy wants supporting the club.
I will always support the club - you don't travel round the country for 25 odd years without having a passion.
But the way the club is run has done to me what it has Done to the atmosphere at the lane. Dampened it to a dull roar.

I would play 4 - 4 - 2 anyway with Benteke and Kane up front. Last season system worked occasionally but was hardly a success.

  4. And Sugarboy promptly sacked the manager who got us third.....and won the the F.A Cup.

I would like to see English football move toward the German model of running clubs where a certain percentage has to be owned by the fans. English football is poorly run and is going downhill.
Last season was one of the worst seasons on record and it is no wonder the England football team are so poor. Ladies aside that is.

As true as this is you have to work within your limitations, even if we were to ignore FFP or if the new rules had not been introduced everyone knows the dangers of working beyond your means, Leeds must serve as a lesson to all

Felon, what world do you live in. All football fans want success. But if we have a wage cap, a transfer budget cap, the 6th highest wage bill in the PL and the smallest stadium by at least 10K of the current top 6, what are you expecting us to acheive? How can we get top four of 5 other teams spend double or triple on their players, buy them just to be used as substitutes, and pay triple what we can pay? We reached a cup final this season, reached 2 FA Cup semis and a :League Cup final under redknapp. Where are we gonna magic 1billion from to compete with teams who have 60K-75K stadiums and no wage cap and can offer CL football? I'm just saying be realistic. I want Spurs to win everything. I dont expect Spurs to win much going on the above. Thats life. Reality bites. Im proud when we finish 5th and above LFC and gun for 4th till the last day of the season when we have none of the financial firepower of 5 other clubs. Do you REALLY expect us to get 4th every season and win trophies year in year out? AFC went 9 years without a trophy. Nine years. LFC havent won the league in 25 years. What makes us better than them in terms of our potential to win? We OVERachieve every season, not underachieve.

We don't want to go bust but do we want to always be the big teams feeder club?

Ah! The new stadium! A friend of mine owns a pub which has a big sign on the bar saying "FREE BEER" and in a much smaller font "tomorrow". Every time I think of the new stadium, I think of that sign.

Thanks for your reply by the way. My point which I think you understood, was that every body talks about DL as if they spent the last 14 years sharing a cell with him at the Scrubs, and yet if you look through the media, you won't find many direct quotes from him.

Of course we don't but we need to balance the books. Once the stadium is built and its debts paid we will be in a much greater position to push forward and progress, much like the scum are doing

We are not allowed to buy success anymore. Lets deal with it. The new stadium i guess could be bigger but since we are not a regular CL club why bring in a 60-65K stadium if it might not fill? I assume the ability is there to expand if needs be, but when in our history have we shown we are a club which attracts 60-65K people a week? I just sense a lot of delusional Levy bashing when in reality the only way we can break top four is by being bought out by an oligarch. We were not. Lets deal with it.

  14. The atmosphere at the lane although muted for cat b/c games is still a lot better than it was in the 90's if you want a loud and proud atmosphere then try a Fighting **** U21/Europa/U18 fixture we put Chelsea to shame home and away in the U18 semi, Scum away at Underhill had it all terraces.....free entry.....cheap beer (2.80 a pint not 3.70 a bottle)....smoke bombs...drowned out the home support(ditto away to Chelsea)....flags....90mins of non stop chanting.....players came over and gave us a big thumbs up end of it al.........couldn't give a flying fcuk about all you negative nancys...all in all I am loving it at Tottenham these days. :)

Our stadium will still be smaller than many others!!! So revenue will increase but still be less than those above us so we will still be behind!!! Please explain the logic in that?!

I never thought it was a success, but you have to assume that this is how Poch wants to set the team up and this will be the plan for next year. So in 4-4-2, I think it's obvious that Poch will choose Eriksen and Lamela, which means that Bentaleb, Chadli and Mason are looking for the other two places.

FWIW regardless of who we sign, I don't see Poch having a lengthy and fruitful career at WHL.

Of course it's not all bad. But when we lose a few games this season and another manager is sacked will all you optimistic fans finally realise that levy is a muppet? Nope, didn't think so.

Abramovich looked at Spurs first but opted for Chelsea. A bit like petit went to Arsenal or Willian to Chelsea!!!
There over 30 thousand people on the season ticket waiting list so therefore increase the capacity to meet that demand. Surely a shrewd mega successful football owning chairman like Levy can see that?

I think regarding porch you are right. Sacking managers every two minutes is not a recipe for success and who hires and fires. Mr Daniel Levy.
