Spurs go into one of the most important games of the season on the back of a great win at Swansea on Sunday. We face Newcastle at home in the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup at the Lane on Wednesday night.

It has now been nearly seven years since Spurs last won a trophy and it’s about time we won something and this is a great opportunity to do just that.

Last time we faced Newcastle, we lost 2-1 at home, Sammy Ameobi and Ayoze Perez grabbing the goals that day despite Adebayor giving us a first half lead.

    Pochettino cautious on Kane

Harry Kane has started the last six games and Pochettino has said that he wants to be careful on how he manages the young England striker.

Harry has the potential to be a great player in England. He works hard and scores goals and these are the principle values that he has
But he is still young and you need to be careful with younger players. You have to manage, and be careful how you manage, this type of player.”

Pochettino & Stambouli want to win

    Poch
"Every game is different, but we understand we need a very good performance because Newcastle are a very good team.
“Tomorrow is an important game for the club and the supporters because we want to reach the semi-finals and hope we all create a good atmosphere together to win the game.”

    Stambouli
“We recently lost to Newcastle in the league so this is a chance for revenge,” said the 24-year-old. “We want to recover some pride after the last game against them, but we have a good chance to do well in this competition as well. I have a feeling that we can do something special in this cup.

    Team news

Adebayor returned to training on Monday but Pochettino has confirmed that the Togolese will not return vs Newcastle.

“He will not be considered for tomorrow,” “He only started again yesterday to train and after one week away, it is impossible to be ready to play tomorrow.”

Full back Kyle Naughton is available again after missing five games through a heel injury.

“Kyle is in the squad and may start or be on the bench, we need to decide, but he’s available,”

    Expected line-up

Vorm; Naughton – Chiriches – Kaboul – Rose; Stambouli – Dembele; Lennon – Kane – Chadli; Soldado

What is the Newcastle lineup expected to be? Do we want to win this tie or throw it away? Chiriches AND Kaboul in the centre of our defence? Why don't we throw in Harry's wife (or mother) to complete the set?

Seems obvious this game is a hindrance by that team selection.

Great team selection lets take our worst defenders and play them all at the same time. The minute i see their names on the team sheet the laurel n hardy music starts up.
Are we taking any competition seriously this year?

I really do despair for the modern day fan. Playing a weakened side in a quarter final is an absolute insult to the fans especially the paying ones not too mention the integrity of the club! Them poor saints fans last night must have felt they had a real chance to reach a final. I'd go vorm walker fazio vertonghen rose lennon dembele capoue eriksen soldado kane

Remember 5 years ago? We got to the final of the League Cup and played Europa League (Uefa Cup) the Thursday before. The same thing could well happen to us again. Last time we played a weakened side in the Europa League and lost to eventual winners Shakhtar, and narrowly lost the League Cup final - we could have easily won in Europe that year.
Maybe we should concentrate on winning the Premiership this season!

We might have a chance if nobody else's notices we have 12 players on pitch.
