When I saw tonight's team I wasn't overly excited. But I was pleased to see the man I've been talking about over the last week on the team sheet. Son tonight showed why I think he will become a starter and has a long future at the lane.
His work on and off the ball tonight was sensational. He is naturally 2 footed and defenders could not live with him tonight.

His goal was about movement and a ferocious finish. His work rate was phenomenal and his pass to Chadli for the second was beautiful. Perfectly weighted. Chadli doesn't do a lot of work to be honest but he weighs in with goals.

Tom Carroll was superb tonight. He covered every blade of grass, his passing was great and he won important tackles.

Wimmer had a good game and Dier is a diamond. He was calm at the back and epitomised tonight's game.
Lamela worked hard and is guilty at times of trying too hard. If he kept it simple he would do better.

Eriksen roamed again and was class. Pure class.

Great win, fantastic support and great passion from the manager. He wanted this and I love that!!!

As for Son. Another great talent. The idea of him and Kane together really excites me.

As ever, Come on you Spurs!!!

Agree with everything said about Son and Matts comments in general, my only downer on the evening was Kyle Walkers performance which I thought was very poor. Got himself in some poor positions defensively and use of ball extremely poor from good situations.

I was only able to watch the first twenty minutes on account of my own football, and especially after Davies' early booking and Walker looking a bit dodgy early on I didn't think we were in for a good night! Son's screamer - apparently 67.4mph, or equivalent to the speed of Ian Wright according to Ian Wright - and then Chadlis excellent finish gave us a really impressive win. I do believe we can win the cup this year. Really. I'll say it here first, I think we will.

    Ever the optimist! COYS.

good ball movement throughout the game. we kept it well and didn't panic.
agree Walker was poor....apart form 2 defensive interceptions. .....start of the seond half he had a moan at Lamela....and I thought...after your first half mate how can you moan at someone else!! ha ha ha
Thought the CB's looked good. Vorm did fine.
Son looks like he's really back from his injury....I don't see the manager panic buying a forward. ....Levy must love him!!

as for Carroll.....well....okay he made some decent passes....and yes one of those was for the Son goal...but to me he shouldn't play centrally before anyone else. he's just too lightweight. against any decent midfiled he wouldn't be in the game. he doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck...he sort of waits until it gets to him. not good enough against the top players

Not sure what will become of Carroll but he certainly deserve, s a chance to prove himself either way .. He's let nobody down that's for sure .. Bale and Modric wouldn't have got much of a chance if you were in charge .. Erikson goes missing for 6 or 7 games in a row once or twice every season and as for Lamela well what can ye say , 3 years later and even if he has improved , lets put it this way if any other club paid what we paid for him and this is what they were getting after 2 & half seasons we,d be laughing our boll1xs off at them ... Perspective my man , perspective .... Decent performance by the lads last night and all things considered excellent result and just what the squad needed as a group .... C.O.Y.S .....

The best for me was to see Son on the score sheet,he now need's a run in the team to really show what he can do,Carrol, nobody else can divide opinion than him,he look's light on bulk but at time's he can produce a good game,if Poch can get him to muscle up he would improve..Vorm still scare's me may be lack of game time affects him and make's him un-sure of himself. The rat pack today are talking of Berahino at a new price set by WBA 30mil What a joke, and yet they offer him to the bar codes for 15mil!!!!!!!Time to leave him well alone, any way after last night may be we do not need any new player's,Thoughts please..COYS.

£30m is indeed a joke! ....their chairman is just joining a long list of chairman who want to get one over on Levy. ...I doubt very much Levy would sanction that sort of an outlay (again) ....unless of course it was for a really top player.

Levy should go back with a swap deal for Lamela! (not that I don't like Lamela....I do....just that we was that price)

Lamela is good but not worth the 30mil paid for him,he has improved since last year but still has a long way to go,may be we should get rid if the price is right..Levy will piss people off every time he opens his mouth!!!Love him or hate him he has the club interest's at heart,I Hope..COYS..

Cmon lads Son had a good game last night but a CF he is not. Never once looked like one and his goal as terrific as it was, nothing to do with traditional CF play. It was a makeshift bk four from a makeshift Leicester outfit. I'm chuffed for the boy its been a difficult start to his stuttering spurs career hopefully he gets a start sat v palace and kicks on from here.

That's being a little hard on Son, Fran the lad was scoring goal's before he had the injury, when he came back he has only played bit part's as sub, last night was his first solo start and did well,he played CF in Germany so he has form in the position give him time and he will give us the goal's..There are not many "Traditional English CF" out there, the game has changed so much..COYS..

Very good report , Matt. There is nothing to add, IMHO.
Carroll was excellent, although every time I glare at him, him seems to be at more remote location than actual... Size does matter in EPL, but so is talent. We'll see what will be of more importance in his carrier.

I have a hunch that Levy will get Berahino in exchange for Townsend and cash. Pulis wants and actually needs Andros type very much for his tactical setup. Berahino is not critical for Tony. Whenever business and football sense is strong it usually prevails over any ego contests. I am confident it would be the case here...

Never heard anything like that. Link?
Townsend has good engine and fits the club that plays long ball and runs counter attacks. He was helpful to Poch up until Spurs started specializing in dismantling a bus parked in front. In this game with short passing and quick situational awareness Andros is useless. He is, however, very useful to the team that parks that bus and plays long ball. West Brom is good fit for Townsend. Berahino is no Vardy by any stretch of imagination. He belong to Spurs or to any other top team that plays short ball.

The problem (s) with Townsend are this.
    - tactically inept
    -poor decision maker
    - cuts inside and shoots ALL THE TIME and always misses the target
-doesn't work hard enough and press hard enough up the final third
-is greedy, gives the ball away often and unnecessarily in dangerous areas consistently..
And finally regarding all of the above and been given numerous opportunities/warnings fails to improve upon.
