Yes, it was only 2 - 1 and it took Eriksen to win the game for us as he has done already this season, but the final score line does not truly show just how dominant Spurs were today, and the only question still left lingering is how we didn't win by more.

What Spurs are starting to show is that they no longer have the old soft underbelly that has blighted so many of our recent Premier league campaigns.
It may have been easy to think that was returning as we gave away the points at Palace, but against Burnley in the cup, with what was to be honest, our second string, we showed that there is a renewed fight for victories within the Tottenham camp.

With Defoe returning today, the papers were all waiting for the script to be written, but to be honest he failed to get a shot in target and Vertonghen marshalled him well. Another positive was that Dier in his favoured centre back position played well and showed some of the maturity we saw in his first three games for Spurs this season. If we can now have a fight for places at the back, with Kaboul now certain to leave in this window, that can only be yet another positive for Pochettino's developing team.

Eriksen could have had at least two goals today and he ran the show from the first to last whistle, and it was fitting that he again scored with a beautiful finish, low to the keepers left, who could only stand and admire as the ball nestled in the net and we took a deserved three points at the Lane.

Kane was again heavily involved in a lot of Spurs play today and he showed that he is a hard worker who tackles back and holds up play superbly. His goals may have caught the eye of the majority this season, but we should not ignore just how good his all round play has become. Bearing in mind his still young years, the further development of Harry Kane is not only exciting, but frightening for the best defences in the Premier league and hopefully in time in Europe.

Sunderland managed to get back into the game with a wonderful free kick that the best keeper in the world would not have stopped. And he didn't!

Vertonghen had given Spurs an early lead before the blow of that Sunderland equaliser, and as we pressed for a winner, hitting the post along the way, it looked like we were in for another frustrating afternoon at the lane.

Spurs no longer lie down and die though and Eriksen scored as the final whistle edged closer.

It would have been interesting to see the negative comments come out had we not won today, but we were much the better team and it would have been a travesty to come away with anything less than the full three points.

We now move into a busy week of Cup football, with a semi final first leg against Sheffield United on Wednesday, followed by Leicester City in the FA Cup at the weekend. I expect two positive results from the Spurs and the feeling that we are going to Wembley is starting to fill my veins.

What started as a drab looking season, is starting to look more promising with each passing game. No longer a soft touch, team spirit looking strong and this is the apt time to say, as ever.....
    COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!!

Get the vibe from this post that spurs are turning into a Pochetinno side, tough to beat with that killer goal touch, very south american in nature ! Always good to win again and stay in contension at the top. "2-1 to the spurs again"! Its becoming a bit of a habit, and thats a good thing, its always better to win ! Coys.

We don't always play pretty at times, but Spurs have needed a stronger mentality for years and I think it is gradually getting there.

The hardest job will be keeping hold of Christian Eriksen this summer after another winning performance. The best buy of all the 'magnificent seven'!! We need to be very aware that Chelsea, both Mancs and every other 'big club' will be sniffing around and make a bid too good to refuse. With him and Lloris
our two best players Levy/Mitchell need to show that we are going places by giving them " Messi "contracts!!

Eriksen different class today. Credit to Poch also for improving work ethic, and fitness levels, starting to see results because of this

I have to admit I am also bipolar, same as Mattj78. One day Ramos reflects my feelings, next -- Felon82. I think it is in line with Spurs historical as well as seasonal oscillations of form and result. Good win today. COYS!!

  8. We were great at time but let's remember lloris is keeping us in the game at times. Yes a great keeper is supposed to do this but it does make one feel we over rely on him. I like our engine room as we have options there in modified. My best eleven. Kane, erikson uup top. Rose and chadli to compete for left spot. Mason and stamb or nabil. Townsend right Mid. Left back Davies, fazio vert, walks. What ya reckon? For me soldado is not young no need to invest in him count our losses. Lennon Paulinho and dembele are needed as squad players as we seen they come on a do a job. Kabooms days are over. Adebyor squad player. Our current system works well and we have cover in most areas. Starting to see a system which overlaps nicely overthe pitch. Well done poch for sorting and filtering a mess and more importantly mentally improving the players which is what avb and ts couldn't do.

Its taking time but we getting harder to beat now. Levy wise up and man up we need a quality striker kane cant do it on his own. Interesting times ahead time to move on somw dead wood and strengthen the squad for the second half of season.

Coys.... looking much better two tough games coming up Liverpool and arsenal we have to take point's in both thrm games and finish off the smaller teams when we face them.

Enjoyed the game yesterday. Thought we were a little more solid than in the past.
Looks like Soldado and Ade are kinda back in the fold?
Perhaps this means signing a new forward is off until the Summer.
Could actually be a good move by Poch as we will need the whole squad for our upcoming fixtures.
Do think sometimes we pass too often in and around the area when a few shots may mix things up.
We are becoming the master of the 2-1 win !
Big few weeks coming up, really looking forward it ..

I really like our improved work ethic and improving mentality of the players, which already has yield rewards few times this season.
As much as personally I would like for Poch to shift all deadwood this month, moving to many of them and bringing in their potential replacements could disrupt our new found team balance and chemistry.
However, the ones that I would like us to sell, are the ones that display negative attitude, namely BAE, Kaboul and Adebayor.
As we might not need to replace first two, it could be tricky to sell third and bring better striker in his place; hence we might stick with him until summer.
Of mentioned in rumours strikers, I would like us to sign Lacazette, who's younger and as prolific as other reported high-profile target, J. Martinez.
