As I've said many times before, I will always be brutal with my opinion. I don't expect you to like it but if it causes debate then that is what a blog tends to do. Poor articles get no comments and I think you will find my articles get plenty of debate going! Perhaps write your own my friend before casting the first stone.

I also think you meant 'poor' not 'poot'.

Well thats another debating point. I would suggest FFP has now made the top four a closed shop. We cannot sell to an evil oligarch as we would not be allowed the initial 1Bn investment to get us into the top four. Look what MC spent in the first 3 years to get them up there: 28M on J Lescott. 32M on Robinho. Look what they still spend now on toss. 30M a pop per player to come on as a sub. 28M for Bony to come on for 15 mins. He could have had a full 45 game season at Spurs or LFC but chose to get double the wages to come on for 15 mins 15 times a season. Thats football today. Forget top four. We cannot do it as we dont have the finances or the stadium currently. Maybe with the new stadium, but CFC and LFC have already announced 60K upgrades. Ours is 56K. And they have more money than us anyway. Do the maths. Top four is the current top four, for the next half decade. Football is dead

    ENIC ARE A BUSINESS
This is the heart of the issue
    Players are investments
Best investments are buying low, selling high
Hence emphasis on cheaper youth players who cost less, who develop to be worth more, hence more profit
I don't agree with it but apparently unlike some others I understand it

Again the Levy/enic apologists are out in force actively supporting a board that does nothing but strangle the club at our expense.
We should be right in the mix for Benteke and Clyne theyre the level of player this club needs could afford and deserves.
We are buissily doing nothing year on year. Spurs are not a Poor Club as much as Levy would like us to believe we deserve better than a conveyour belt of hopefulls.
Spurs are not some type of Utopia that are going to kick on using league 1 prospects, relegation players, random contract rebels etc its a totally flawed policy !

Looking at the article, my biggest reservation is that it is all about comments made in the media about DL. Does the author actually know this for fact?

I confess to being a DL fan, and I think the sarcastic comments made about Sugar, sum up where he has taken the club from. Having said that, I also find myself in agreement with those who wish to highlight his failures. If it's about sacking managers for under-performing, why does the person who chooses them not have to take ultimate responsibility? Clearly, though I am a fan, the evidence is that he doesn't get it right all the time, hence the managerial merry-go-round.

Regardless, he took us out of the doldrums to where we are today, which is almost perennial nearly men. I can't say I am confident that he will get us to the next stage, but given our limited resources (11th biggest ground in the league), I do think that we are a lot better for having had Levy at the helm, than many others who are running PL clubs.

As far as the transfer rumours are concerned, we see this every year. Are we really interested in Benteke, or is it some lazy hit whore hack blogger filling in some blank space so that he can pretend he has done a day's work?

BTW, when are one of the bloggers going to raise the point that it is more than a possibility that 4th place may not qualify for the CL in 2016/7, and that even 3rd might only be good enough for the play-off round as the PL is in serious danger of losing one of it's CL spots next year?

And you raise a very good point. We have had years to make sure our new stadium would be the biggest and best. It will be good BT as usual ENIC will sell us short.
Football died when abramovich arrived in England sadly. We will have a new stadium and still be unable to compete with the top four and that, is the reality of what ENIC have done in 14 years.
Sold the fans down the river.

For god sake do the business early benteke is two expensive go for Hernandez of Man Utd and schendalin or cabye hopefully alderwield is a done deal . Ship out vlad , capoue , soldado, ade, and lamela if the right money is offerd I don't think he is cut out for our league . With Paulinho and holtby gone and our kids coming in we won't challenge but may have a better season . But no doubt levy will drag it out and put himself in front of supporters and team .

I think your point is correct. Levy has done some good. Those that read my articles on a regular basis know I have never doubted that. What I question is that we are now stuck treading water and the new stadium will not change that so what next. Just be happy as we are. Sorry but I believe as a fan we have ambitions. Currently ENIC have none as the capacity of the new stadium clearly proves.

  10. I think Levy has done a brilliant job relative to any other chairman in the history of the premier league yet alone Sugarboy and Scholar.
What chairmen do you thnk has done a better job than Levy? (I can name at least 20 who have a a whole lot worse).....lets see how many name you come up with who are better than him.

The thing is, i guess a lot of fans on here are newbies who got attracted during the Redknapp years. We were coming 14th in the 90s. We nearly got relegated twice. We never came better than 7th until Levy came in. We have won 2 League Cups in 20 years. Also, we have NEVER been a title chasing team. We are a good cup side with a strong European record of glory nights. We havent come better than 3rd since 1961. We were part of the "big 5" when the PL formed (Everton, LFC, AFC, MU, Spurs) and technically we are still in the top 5. We're a top five club. But it was the other 4 that won leagues, not us. The only thing that has changed is that CL football only allows the top 4 in. Make it top 5 and we would be "big club Spurs" again. Considering the Europa leagus is so **** and they got rid of the Cup Winners Cup, which was a brilliant competition, just have the top 5/6 in each league in the CL and just have the CL. Really, Spurs fans have nothing to moan about. Nothing has changed in our history for 55 years. We are NOT a league winning club. Deal with it.

If finishing outside the top four is a constant disappoint for people, I suggest supporting arsenal.

I support tottenham because the club has a history of playing exciting and passionate football, and I'd like to see that as part of what we're building for our future, regardless of where we finish.

Buying youth and developing potential. Nowt wrong with that imo. Means we can brag about being the club that made the likes of Carrick bale and modric. Yep, frustrating that they move on, but seriously, we are a medium size club with good financial sense, we don't have to worry about doing a qpr or buying success like city

If you'd asked where we'd be now 10 years ago, I would never have predicted that we'd have a credible shout for a trophy, let alone regular European football. Let's celebrate that.

Agreed leeg. Spurs league finishes here. Under Levy we have achieved more consistent top 5 finishes than at any point in our history. 7 in the last 10 years. So technically we have been more stable and succesful in the league under Levy than under any other owner in our history.

Reality vs delusion. We're a top 5 club which needs to win some more cups. We are not a league winning team, and probably never will be. You want to support a club because they are going to win things, support CFC, plastic as they come.

Less of the Levy out and more of the better than Mike Ashley or those donkeys that bought Blackburn and didnt realise a team could actually get relegated. Look at Blackburn now. Won the league in 1995. Great. Playing 3rd division football now.

We finished third in 1990 - 91 behind Aston Villa.

I have asked the same sort of question myself several times. I see the wish lists of many posters or the comment "We should have signed a striker in that window". And when they say "a striker", you really know that this was nothing more than wishful thinking, because they couldn't even name a player.

When someone tells me this, I always have five questions for them: 1. who was available? 2. could we afford the fee? 3. would his wage demands fit into the current structure? 4. does he want to play for us? Is he an improvement on what we have already? Most people can't answer the first question.

And so while we are sitting here talking about Benteke, lets not forget that this is almost a re-run of last season where we were supposed to be in the lead to sign him then, but instead he got a new contract and a big pay rise from Villa. History has a habit of repeating itself, so I will not be surprised if he gets offered another new contract before the start of the season.

But just to add to my doubts that we are really interested in Benteke, if we were to sign him, how does that affect the team? Last year we played 4-2-3-1. If Benteke joins us, it will have to be 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 or even 4-1-3-2. So all the pain in adapting to last season's new system will have been for nothing. Are we really going to throw that work away?

Mattj78. Yes, we did. That's 25 years ago now. And again, we havent finished second in over 5o years. Since when have we challenged for a league? I dont understand what people expect of a club with a wage cap, transfer budget cap, and smallest stadium out of the top 6, which has never been a title winning side in over 2 generations. We're a top 5 club. If you want plastic success, people should support the top four. They are not real fans.

Look at the financial restricts of the club, can you blame Levy for being shrewd? We are over achieving for a club of our size. Also how can you say there seems to be no silverware on the horizon, didn't we make a final last season? Half the players we've been linked with we have probably either mot actually been interesting in and agents using our name to get their player a better contract or they have only been a second choice, cant always get who you want, have patience and some faith.

"No hope of any silverware on the horizon." What? We have nearly won the capital one cup and the F.A. cup in the last 3 years alone. I wouldn't be so harsh on levy. The players must perform on all competitions and if we aren't good enough to play in the Europa league then who says we are good enough to play in the champions league?

Its going to take some time to change like all things new, we must adapt to these changes. I knew this would happen as soon as Redknapp left. He did what he was asked just unfortunate in the fact that chelsea had one lucky game. People refuse to admit that Villas Boas was actually quite a good manager in developing bale into a scoring machine and delevering the most points we had ever had in one season. Yet again, we were overshadowed by the fact that everyone else did well and we were piped out of a champions league spot.

Levy has certainly made some strides and I would not be so quick to say he is failing us because you have no idea what kind of plans he has made and what adjustments he has made due to the fact that many other clubs in the BPL have made plenty of buys.

Cant believe these true 'Spurs fans' that are against wanting success, if you want Spurs to be making a serious challenge at top 4/trophies or God forbid a title challenge then your a 'plastic fan' ?
Sort it out your actively supporting failure and dressing it up as being positive.
Check the honours list is financially stable 2001-2015 on it?
    FFP winners?
Get a reality check Sport is about winning and doing everything in your power to get there. No sports person or team or club ever got anywhere with the mantra we do ok lets be happy were taking part!
