At long last the ongoing saga between Spurs and Archway seems to be over.

Tottenham now have the green light to build the new stadium, regenerate the area and also increase capacity to 54 thousand. The extra seats mean more revenue, and hopefully bigger investment in the squad.
We are seeing this season that youth will play a big part in the future of this club, as long as Pochettino is given time and proper backing.

It is now time that ENIC either put this club back where it belongs or moves on. The latter is not going to happen, so with a new stadium now a reality, what is next for our beloved Tottenham?

The first thing is that we need to make sure we keep our best players in the summer. Talk of Kyle Walker being linked to Man united worries me, because for all 20 million would be good business, it would yet again show Spurs to be a selling club. We do need to sell, but sell the likes of Kaboul, Adebayor, Paulinho.

Secondly, we need to think about our season or two season long move away from North London. Although the move will happen, surely location must be of paramount importance. Playing at stadium MK just seems wrong to me. Spurs will fill the stadium, because it's what we do, but we must keep our identity in that period.

Thirdly, how do we sell the idea that a new stadium will bring success? And I am talking about the players here. Think about Lloris, Eriksen, Chadli. 3 seasons will come and go by the time we move back home and we need to provide champions league football for these players to stay.

Spurs seem bound by the word 'transition' but if this new chapter is managed positively, glory nights could return.
Manage it badly and the results could be worrying.

For now though, let's hope it's glory coming home!!!

As ever, come on you Spurs!!!!

I don't think the club identity is so fragile that it would be lost by a season away from the Lane

Permission to "increase capacity to 54,000"? When the new capacity projected up to now has been between 56,000 and 61,000, how is 54,000 an increase? And what on earth is the point of such a quantum expansion over the current stadium's 36,000 and still leaving it short of Arsenal's capacity? To confirm the Arses as the superior club?

    4 things-

1 we don't create a corporate soulless hyper bowl of a stadium (see emirates & Wembley) view and atmosphere is paramount!

2 we don't give it an embarrassing name like 'the we buy any car arena'

3 as I have said before Stadiums may generate more income but unless that income is pumped back into the 1st team you will not be successful (see Newcastle, Arsenal, Aston Villa)

4 we have too many sub standard players in the mean time to achieve top 4 or win the EL, and the eternal dawdling surrounding transfers is forever holding us back.

Course its great news that we can now start building and the plans should be full speed ahead.
As for stadium move there is a ground in London (most importantly) that should be given consideration- the Valley, granted its not on the doorstep but it holds 27000 capacity its closer and more relevant/accessible to London Spurs fans theres not a deep seeded rivalry and im sure Charlton would jump at the chance for increased revenue to help them out.
Spurs are too big a club to lose all identity but i also have concerns that moving so far to MK would have a significant impact on 1st team and attendances.

The valley is a great shout and maybe use Twickenham or Wembley for the bigger games...
Be prepared now for a couple more seasons of austerity with more emphasis on bringing thru youth ie Pritchard veljovic coulthirst Fredericks which I think could be a good thing and maybe some bosmans with Luis Adriano Reid Fabian Schaar and yehven konopklanplya all available this summer.

It is important that fans are not made to travel too far and if it does end up being stadium MK, the very least the club should be doing is to subsidise fans travelling costs. Having a new stadium is important, but if we suddenly drop to mid table for 2 seasons, We could end up moving back home having gone ten years backward.

Most definately Matt, MK just seems a bad idea for the extra few thousand it seats i cant see full attendences from Spurs fans as its just too far for regular supporters, which is why we should b lookin at somewhere like the valley and as Fran said somewhere like twickenham or wembley for bigger matches
