Eriksen and Mason were at the heart of this well advised tactic, with both men reveling in the extra space and time afforded to them on the ball, controlling the tempo of our attacks and generally dictating proceedings.

This is true Ramos , but when you have wide men that naturally frees up space in the middle for cm players .

Classic here, Lineker uses him by not using him... (Goal 2)

Tell me something I don't know Nick...*yawns*...your preaching to the converted here mate!

Whilst quoting me, I suppose you forgot to read/add the part when Ramos also said:

Well, yesterday, Spurs put on a master-class of how to play against 10 men with the team maintaining (effective) possession, moving Hull around with quick passes and interchanges and spreading the ball wide at every given opportunity.

Eriksen and Mason were at the heart of this well advised tactic, with both men reveling in the extra space and time afforded to them on the ball, controlling the tempo of our attacks and generally dictating proceedings.

OR, the part when The Ram also stated:

The same could be said about Aaron Lennon, who restored to his favoured position on the right flank, offered the team balance, width and efficiency in his work, both from an attacking and defensive standpoint. With Lamela moved out to the left for the most part, although both the widemen still rotated/interchanged positions, Spurs began stretching the Hull rearguard, getting in behind their defence and as a result pulling the oppositions players out of their desired shape.

Listen, anyone can pull snippets from a post to try and prove a point (whatever that may be) but when you look at MY posts in their entirety I can assure that it is highly likely I would of covered most bases in my analysis/summary .;)

I'm not going to start harping on about the importance of having two attack minded, athletic full-backs in Pochettinos system (as I have commented of that before) but I can assure you that I am WELL aware of the effect having width within the side has on both your own team and the opposition.

Dare I say a lack of width within the team has also had an adverse effect on the performances of Mousa Dembele (going forward) too...but perhaps that's a conversation best left for another time.

Kyle Walkers return can't come soon enough....

I still believe the new manager should have time. I do have concerns about him so far, as I am not entirely sure what he is trying to get the team to do at times.
January will be an important month for us and it will tell us more about the new manager.
He isn't proven at this level yet, he had one good season with the saints and their replacement is already doing better than Poch did.

The team needs a good overhaul. Kaboul, Adebayor, Naughton, lamela are all players who we need to move on along with Paulinho.
Our current issues are with the players rather than the manager and once he has more of his own Players, I will be better placed to see how he is doing.

I do worry that he doesn't always seem to have a plan b, something that saints fans also pointed out during his tenure there.

The performances of the team thus far have been poor, but we are still only two points of fourth.

    Only time will tell Ram.

I think as a whole this spurs side but football in general lacks genuine width. Walker will undoubtedly be a massive boost as will an inform Lennon who is out most natural pacy out n out winger. I'm sick bored and tired of hearing about inverted wingers unless were dealing with the robbens bales of this world which unfortunately we are not. I'd like to see lennon restored to the side with the likes of chadli Townsend lamela scrapping it out for the left berth spot. Chadli just shading it at present although I'm not a great fan from what I've seen of him thus far. However he does have a knack of scoring goals arriving at the far stick and cutting in with his ability of coming on the inside or out. Long term I would see Townsend emerging in that position
as serious player for club and country. Eriksen does well from that position but will not offer much protection to two already suspect defensively left BKS. And I see his long term future more central but maybe deeper than a no 10 as mooted in the same way modric was moulded. Would have liked to have seen a trio of him sygi and Sandro or dembele but that ship has now sailed

    Ramie,

I read your posts in full, but they had 10 men hence more space in the middle imo.

With regards to width, Bolasie tore liverpool apart down the wing on sunday it works if used quickly and direct, you have to create space via width to open up defences its so obvious, why it takes a red card for us to employ this is ridiculous.
Again January? Overhaul? Back the manager? This is Levy were talking about- wont happen!
