PLAYER RATINGS: Spurs 1-2 Stoke City

Yes where are you Ramos ? hope you are well. Even Ramos couldn't defend Poch for this mess.

 

I'd rather be in dream land and think de Boer might become our manager then watch and put up with this garbage.

 

Very very worrying times ahead. Its looking and becoming very ominous indeed. All the criticisms are right this club is in a serious mess. The chairman with the help of Dof has spent insane amounts of money on unproven foreign players with a view to making money from the investment and then after a disastrous season and sacking two managers, he then hires an extremely high risk young manager who has achieved absolutely NOTHING despite the ridiculous and completely false high praise and glowing accolades that was given to him by the lunatic fringe. Unfortunately Felon is right. ( no offence Felon ) but what did we really expect ? we all knew that we might struggle but I had hopes that Poch could bring this team together and bring some team ethics and unity to this club but the players arnt buying it. whos fault is that ? who knows its getting complicate and messy, all we know now is that this going from bad to worse. Our current form is relegation form. its that bad. Like some others I remember what it feels like to get relegated and I don't want to go through that again.

 

As far as the players go, how bad was Fazio ? is Kaboul and Fazio the best we can do ? this pairing is horrendous I cant imagine what's going on with Verts, we can talk about him getting the sulks but really what's a player with his background and proven ability meant to think at a club as dysfunctional as Spurs ? Rose was terrible and looks like he's slipping into last years old habits, Capoue who started the season so well has also gone missing, as much a I like Mason he's a bit raw and had a poor game. I liked Andros for a start for this one but I would like him to stay on the left instead of the usual and constant changing, I still think we need the width that a player like Townsend can bring to mix it up but it didn't work. I didn't think much of the half time substitutions and think that although Eriksen is off his game and his set pieces are very poor at the moment, he has been made into something of a scapegoat and was not the worst player and should have stayed on the pitch, he was trying to make things happen and is the one player that could have made a difference. Harry had a few good moments but couldn't impose himself on this game. Mark Hughes had a very clear and very simple game plan which worked for them. Points to their manager. We got what we deserved. Nice goal from Chadli by the way.

 

Hahaha.... a joke of a team. I still insist, Daniel Levy should eat the humble pie and sip the shame tea and convince Harry "Redemption " Redknapp. You sell your best players and buy worst players? A joke. hahaha

 

Think its about time some demonstrations were made by the Fans, Levy and Enics totally flawed ownership has dismantled a top side and now produced the worst in 20 odd years.
Every top player weve had has been allowed to leave the minute we start looking like doing anything.
And when you look at the money recouped and spent to become this bad it speaks volumes of the ability of those running the club to bring any success to it.
Failure every window to buy A the caliber of players needed, B the positions that need strengthening, C players the manager actually wants, D shift the endless stock pile of deadwood, E flogging anyone that is good, F flogging anyone that shows the right atitude.
It all needs a massive overhaul!

Feelings of déjà vu? Regular Spurs watchers would know this game was not going to be easy for us, the way the game panned out was not a complete surprise. We are a team that seems to start games half asleep, not the first time we have been caught out by aggressive pace early on. We continue to be too narrow, we are incapable of quick breaks to put the opposition under pressure before they have time to get men back. Then there is the biggest problem, of course - the defence. I'm not going to slate Poch's team selection too much apart from leaving Vertonghen out. He may not want to play for Spurs any more, but he is the best defender we have and should always start. I agree with the comments about Kaboul and Fazio, they are shockingly bad. A quality CB is our most pressing priority as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not convinced player selection is the root of our poor form, more that so many of our players are underperforming. Bringing on Dembele and Lamela for the ineffectual Erikson and Townsend seemed like a good call. However, they proved to be just as ineffectual. Capoue shouldn't have stayed on for as long as he did, but (believe me I'm no fan of the man) bringing on Adebayor seemed like a good move. Guess what? He was so ineffectual I can hardly remember him touching the ball. The point I'm making is that Poch is giving these players the opportunity, they are failing to come up with the goods. I said it after the game in Europe, we need some new blood, there aren't any surprises to come through the ranks and change games for us. Panic buys in January no thanks, but come next summer I'd be happy to see us offload Kaboul, Fazio, Capoue, Soldado, Adeybayor, Townsend, and Lennon. A decent striker and one or two defenders with proven Premier League experience would give us a fighting chance. This season will not be easy watching for fans of the mighty Spurs. Take it on the chin chaps, more pain to come....

 

For the love of god, could we just have some deep runs? The reason Eriksen is looking "bad" is because the team is completely static. There are NO runs whatsoever. Eriksen has always relied on quick passing making space for himself and waiting for the right moment to dink lovely balls for WINGERS who would take runs in behind defences. At least that is what he did at Ajax.

 

I very much feel for what you say. I first saw Spurs in 1959 when John White immediately became my favourite player...he died 50 years ago and I can still remember crying.

You have to give credit to Potters. They played an excellent road game and could be a better team to any in the EPL. Notwithstanding, agree with all that was said here. Our best tactic is the one was used against Wenger. Posh went to attack and got burnt badly. Same used to happen to AVB and Sherwood. I want Sherwood back at this point.

 

So he finds booing demoralizing. Try paying good money to watch this ****; that's demoralizing! What was Adebayor's excuse for poor form and lack of goals when the fans were cheering him and the rest of the team week in week out trying to encourage them? Aren't the fans entitled to boo players who are -- I won't say earning -- being paid 10s of thousands of pounds per week and giving nothing in return? He says he would prefer to play away; then go away and play. Don't stay on the hallowed turf of White Hart Lane and expect to be cheered for doing nothing at all, every single week. And take the rest of the lazy goodfornothings with you. And don't forget Pochettino. Take him too. Two weeks ago he was quoted as saying he reserves passion for when he is in bed, and this week he says he doesn't feel pressure. Well, if he can only feel passion at home in his bed, and not when managing Tottenham Hotspur, then he is clearly in the wrong job. How on earth will a man who fails to feel or show passion, impart passion to his players? Today, he says he does not feel pressure! Is he joking? Only a complete fool would fail to feel the mounting pressure of managing a football team so well loved and for whom such great expectations are held as Spurs. No wonder the team isn't performing; no wonder the fans are booing. Get someone in there who understands what it means to manage a neighbourhood football club or to turn out in the white shirt of Tottenham and play at White Hart Lane. These people have no idea of what Tottenham means. Upset by booing! And today, Adebayor tells us its no one's fault, its just that we can't understand what the manager is trying to impart to us. Some fiasco. Levy: step in and find a Spurs manager and some fellas who can be made to feel the pride of stepping onto that pitch. Get us a leader in the dressing room; get us a leader (or two) on the pitch.

 

The answer is so painfully simple it makes me want to cry. We are wasting so much money on unproven "superstars" when we need 3 players (at least) with proven PL experience. The likes of Shawcross Schneiderlin and even someone like Shane Long who would all fight with everything they have and thus allow our "Superstars" ie Eriksen to play their football with less pressure.

 

Whatever issues Vertongen and Poch have he has to play his strongest team in league. Yes, Vertongen is a want away Spur but he's the most solid defender we have. Fazio not good enough.

When everyone watching could see we had no width or shape and midfield was playing in a tight clump why did Poch only change personnel and not formation?
Did you see QPR v Man City. QPR played with pride and passion and a simple 4-4-2 that the players understood. Are the players better than ours?.No. Is the manager more tactically aware ?.Definitely!

 

We do that because Baldini is our Football Director. Europe (not a globe!) scouting is his background. Levy views Spurs players as an investment portfolio. They must be bought young, cheap (hence Europe, not EPL) so then they can be sold with profit when older. That is why we have a misfits instead of balanced team. That is why we do not have good players, but mediocre ones with potential that is not materializing. That is why Bales money was not spent on replacement players AKA Beatles, it was re-invested with questionable risk and, therefore, as it is quite clear now, wasted.
Since Harry was a real manager and could see that, he was axed. AVB was a good manager too ( see how Zenit is doing there in Russia under him) and he followed. Sherwood was the only one who could somehow make this mess to work, but not for long, cause Levy wanted Van Gaal. Once Van Gaal snubbed Spurs, the naïve Argentine was hired. He would have had his hands full by just playing EPL with this group, yet he needs to play Europa and FA cup. Something has to yield... So there you have it.

Fans boo Levy, not players. Some one has to let Ade know...

 

Hi Harold in Ohio.....we have been tracking here since GB left us......our best results in the previous 5 years were all about pace and width and balance, Bale left, Lennon right, a decent left back (Benni was that on his day)...........to beat two rows of 5 you need width, pace and somebody who can pick a pass....like Glenn could......we don't have anything like that now and we are royally f****d unless we do something soon......howz the weather in Ohio....
