Because he’s 18 and he’s not good enough to start for us in midfield presently given we have plenty of better options there. Correct me if I’m wrong, but he played a lot of games at fullback for Leeds I believe?

We may end up playing close to 60 games this year. You can’t expect perfection every time out ... particularly when injury riddled. Roma certainly aren’t Leeds … they still have a few guys who would walk into our team. Guesty hit the nail on the head … we had 24 shots … they had 19 … that’s an awful lot for both teams. Despite how it came about, the draw was a fair result.

The more important fixture is in a couple of days. And I expect us to go hard in that one.

The most important game is the one that might bring silverware and that is the cup not league

That’s not true and you know it.

A Carabao and 12th in the league will get the manager sacked. Yes we need to win a cup … and we’re still on track for that … but league is still king for this club. There is far more money involved.

I agree…….unfortunately club football is (wrongly) all about Champions League……and money…..

I of course don’t know…..but my guess is that the club wants to push for top4 before any cups…..

However……it seems we do have a manager that wants to win something this season…..and that will only be a cup…..so he needs to play his best players……
The problem…..the best players can’t play every minute of every game.
Ange wants to be 3 up in every game so have can then rest players…..but no opposition will just give up…..this isn’t Scotland

Typical Levy way let’s get the money and don’t worry about the supporters wanting to win something. He seems to have brainwashed you

    Pffft.

I’m just a realist … I’ve followed this club more than long enough to know how it operates and what it values.

I just don’t take it to heart anymore.

Just watched Ange press conference and he does not do himself any favours with his incessant (I won’t change whatever happens attitude).Does he really mean if we are leading in a cup final with a minute to go he will still go gung ho.This arrogance is what gets people’s backs up and could be his downfall.I really want to back him because we are entertaining but please be prepared to change to get a win sometimes

So do I … the FA Cup in 91 was my highlight … that’s 35 years ago

Mine was being at Wembley when we completed the first double of the modern era in61 and the next year when we splashed out for the greatest goalscorer of all time(my view) Jimmy Greaves

So we can both agree … given the time span … that the club is no longer built to win things … particularly these last 25 years?

I just accept it for what it is now. And appreciate any manager who is going to give his soul to change it despite the inherently high degree of difficulty.

Why should we accept that the club is not built to win things.Did City think that did arsenal think that did Liverpool and Chelsea think that no they did something about it.Levy can’t last forever. This is what annoys me and why I am accused of being negative because I am not like the majority of spurs fans who have been brainwashed into accepting second best

The club does not spend the money required. Hasn’t for the last 25 years … won’t for as long as ENIC is in charge. You might want to take off those rose coloured glasses.

Not while I live and there is a small chance of somebody eventually buying out Levy

  15. So, there are meny mentions of rose coloured spectacles on this site. Some wearing them in the hope of a cup, some in the hope of transfers and some just because they like our manager.

ENIC and Levy are often at the front of the criticism about how much we spend (or don’t spend) on players and how much the club is run as a business.

According to F365, we are 4th in net spend over the last 5 years. No one will ever match Chelsea’s feat of signing literally anyone that is any good on FIFA but outside of their rule bending tatics, we have spent approx. £90m less than Man Utd and £10m less than Arsenal. That being said, we have spent approx. £200m more than Liverpool.

So, based on the logic that what you spend, directly relates to what you win, Chelsea and Man Utd have been the champions of all for the last 5 years. That, as we know, is not quite the case. If we take this season, Liverpool should be mid table. So, based on net spend, we are actually underperforming vs the clubs investment.

This then brings me to the point I am trying to make.

We can all complain about the manager, ENIC, Levy and our squad but the real problem seems to be the quality of the scouts and those responsible for signing players.

This season, if we compare our performances vs other top 6 sides, the biggest problem is not putting away chances to kill off games. When Arsenal played West Ham, they took no more shots than we do in most games yet clinically led 4-0 in the first half, which pretty much killed off West Hams hopes of getting anything from the game.

Despite our obvious defensive frailties and alarming lack of squad depth, if we can actually start to convert chances in to goals, our season could end up with the league place the club needs and the trophy the fans need.

So let’s forget all this talk of rose coloured spectacles, give the new recruitment team the chance to show that they can sign players who fit the requirements of the manager, give the manager the praise he deserves for turning us from literally the worst team to watch in world football for 5 years to one that at least gives us the ups and downs of a swashbuckling attacking style that usually, at the very least, provides some value for the very expensive tickets to watch them play each week.

This isn’t 50 years ago, 30 years ago or any other era. It’s now and we need to finish in the top 4 and win something soon and the best person to help us do that is Ange. If we stick with him, get the players he needs and stop with the moaning, we might just climb the league, get through the Europa League without playoffs and get past the next round of the Carabao. Maybe then, the spectacles can be put away for a while. If none of the above happens then it’s the same as the last 30 odd years and won’t stop any of us supporting the most infuriatingly inconsistent team in the league but at least we are now doing it having a go at other teams rather than sitting deep and defending for 85 minutes each week.

Didn’t see the game but just looked at the stats. One of the first times we’ve not had a lot more shots than the opposition or touches in the box. seems like a draw was good for us!
I guess solanke and kulu were tired but has made a big difference

Please no more .what the hell is the man doing Fulham down to ten so he takes off maddison and leaves strikers on bench. And he subs when we concede even though we were being outplayed.Porro out on his feet but no sub for him.Son should have been removed before Verner and that says how bad he is becoming.Time to stop this glorifying of an average manager.Tactilly amateurish forget top 4 no chance .If he does not win a cup now he is history
