Pity he has Son so out of form with him

Good win! a lot of lads played very well today. As sublime as I’ve seen Maddison in a long long time, which just makes you wonder where his head’s at half the time. Speaking of which, how eccentric is our keeper?

I saw a very good first half played at a very good tempo. The ball was moving quickly and all the players were very concerned. I'm more perplexed about the 2nd half. Some players once again showed their limits. Johnson must score his 2nd goal or better serve Solanke several times. Son, even if he gives a good ball on the 3rd goal, is still slow and in dire need of ideas! We clearly lack defensive solidity in the middle of the field and this must be remedied in January with the transfer of a number 6 such as Ederson.

Yep, let’s react to a post about our newest striker by criticising another!
Just maybe, Son is feeling a lot of pressure to be the one to carry the team and now that others have started scoring, he may relax a bit and improve.

Great game from Maddison I thought.. over to you.

My thoughts exactly.I believe there is a good player in Johnson but he needs to pick his crosses better or if shooting be more accurate. At the moment he seems undecided.Bettercoaching sessions?!Son I am afraid has now slowed up in thought and deed which comes with age.Shame because he has been one of my favourite players. The midfield enforcer has been needed for 2 seasons and Ange should have got one in the window but I think that would mean him changing his playing style and we all know that ain’t happening nice to see Maddison back to his best

Agreed about Maddison but don’t knock me for doing what most of the supporters are doing in worrying about Sons lack of pace all of a sudden and the ease he gets robbed of the ball

Sonny was actually very good yesterday. Still too much indecision in the final third, but his build up play was generally great overall.

Now will he disappear again sometime in the near future? Let’s hope not. Have to believe this is an upward trajectory for the entire team.

Agree good to see him score hopefully that will shut the press up who seemed to be going after him about not scoring

Yep was a lot better with regards to vicario I wouldn’t mind seeing Austin get some game time to see if he’s a viable replacement

    Interesting stat from the game

“Son who was a creative force during the match, ending the day with two assists and seven key passes leading to chances. For context, Brentford's players managed six in total between them.”

Maybe not. But last year he got slated week in week out including by you.
Saka for Arsenal was lauded for being brilliant yet….. Son was joint 5th on the goals and assists lists, higher than Saka and yet he had a bad season?!
I just don’t get the constant need to look for the negatives even after we had a great game and he played well.

Just facts .not looking for negatives!.Best we have played for a longtime but let’s hope we are still in this upbeat mood after United away next week.We differ and that is good you always on the upside me after 60 years still waiting to be convinced of a return to when we were a force.I have stated before that Son is one of my favourite ever spurs players but time is catching up

Yes I know that the only stats that matter are the wins, however these are interesting reading. If we were losing and not having these types of numbers, it would be different.

Tottenham in the #PL this season:

    • Avg Possesion - 1st
    • Crosses - 1st
    • Passes into Pen area - 1st
    • Shots on target - 1st
    • Touches in final 3rd - 1st

just need some change of fortune and sharpening of finishing

Thanks for sharing. It does suggest we’re on the right track. Now to start turning it into results.

I get the stats but all they prove is how poor our final ball has been. Sky so called experts said spurs crossing was the poorest they had seen.I would like to see where the players were in the box when crosses come in

Well we are leading at half time but it won’t last if Ange does not change our shape. He really does not know how to defend a lead We have 10 men for gods sake don’t be so tactically naive.Udogie so far is a disaster area with Davies?Solanke working his socks off

I don’t know what to say about that.To win with ten is magnificent but the openness and the chances they missed cover a lot of sins..This could easily have been 4 -3 to them..We won’t get away with that in the premiership.I will say that we fought hard but we’re still sloppy in our passing.Honourable mention to Van who was immense andVicario who has been poor recently was superb today and Solanke gave a great all round performance.Still think we play too high and serve up chance after chance

With any other manager, we would have immediately set up for a smash and grab. Instead, we played our way minus 1 and scored 3 goals.

Just watched a rerun of the game from last night and in the light of day can’t believe we won because we made so many errors and defended diabolically. Will Ange ever see that teams who win things know how to defend. The last 10 years we have had Man City Liverpool Mourinos Chelsea winnng most things and not one bad defensive team amongst them. While everybody is so happy with the entertainment value we provide do we want to win something or just be the great entertainers as we were when we had Hoddle and Ardilles and win a cup every 20 years.
