New Spurs signing Benjamin Stambouli has passed his medical examination at Hotspur Way and is one step closer to being officially announced as a Lilywhite.

Stambouli has been Spurs-bound for the last few days after rumours of his supposed move went under the radar, and the defensive midfielder watched from the stands as we were beaten 3-0 by Liverpool yesterday.

The fee is reported to be in the region of £4.7million with Montpellier for the sale of the 24-year-old, who made over 110 appearances for the Ligue 1 side scoring 3 goals.

He is expected to sign a 4-year-deal, after Spurs hijacked Swansea’s move for the former France Under 21 man at the last minute.

    He’s the Mane

Alongside Stambouli, the Metro have claimed that Red Bull Salzburg winger Sadio Mane could be on his way to Spurs in a deal worth over £11million.

Mane was a target for Spurs during the last transfer window, especially on deadline day, but no deal was struck as Spurs brought in 7 others. The African winger’s agent is in England to negotiate a contract however the 22-year-old would undergo a medical in Austria should a deal be finalised.

He has a prolific record in Austria, scoring 45 goals in 86 appearances for Red Bull, as well as 4 goals in 156 for his native Senegal. His sale would surely see Aaron Lennon move on to Queens Park Rangers or Andros Townsend move to Southampton.

    Saint Andros
The latter could also see England international Jay Rodriguez move in the opposite direction as Mauricio Pochettino looks to join up with his former Southampton teammate.

Rodriguez has been high on Spurs’ list of targets throughout the window along with midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, however a deal for the Frenchman has fallen through. Rodriguez missed the end of the season and the World Cup with a knee injury but is on the way to recovery.

Southampton’s interest in Townsend has seen them offer £11M and £12M in the past week, but Daniel Levy is more likely to manipulate the deal to get Pochettino the man he wants.

Rodriguez scored 15 Premier League goals under Poch last season before picking up his tragic injury, and The Daily Mail claim it would be a straight swap for fellow Englishman Townsend.

It is rumoured that this deal may now be off, so it will be interesting to see what the problem is if any. It looks likely that spurs are going to take this window right down to the wire.
