Nothing wrong with Harry Rednapp. I mentioned the reasons why I appreciated Martin Jol and Pochettino.

The net spending includes the latest transfer window, the new players coming in have not settled yet (which in itself might be a problem) but the difference in spending before the latest transfer window is quite a lot more than 6 million. Anyone want to quote that number?
Btw: Who is the creator for Liverpool? Creativity seems to me to be mostly an excuse for midfielders who are not working hard or possibly not having good offensive off the ball movement nor good defensive off the ball movement.
No bids came in for CE or? There is the risk that he might be missed if he goes, on the other hand... If he wants a dream-move then he needs to up his game, if he does not up his game, then really, who will miss his performances?
& should he have been offered a new contract based on the performance last year? If so, how much higher wages than he is currently on should he have been offered? Am personally not sure if he'd have performed better with higher wages but as is I really don't see why he should be one of the higher earners.

Top 2 has gotten stronger last season and is now much tougher than during Martin Jol and Harry Rednapp's time. We are lucky that the best of the rest has gotten weaker. Chelsea has weakened Arsenal by selling them their prized asset, Luiz while Chelsea itself is in transition. As for ManU, the Midas touch has all but disappeared and they are even worse than us in away games.

Who chose not to spend? Spurs. Why? Pochettino is perfectly happy as he was quoted. Subsequently, he questioned the club's spending in the transfer market, if I remember correctly.

Oh how I hark back to the days of Gross had no hope and it's the hope that kills you we improved for a couple of seasons and should have won the title when Leicester won it hopefully we can turn it around but is sacking Poch really the best way to go how the hell people know what is really going on behind the scenes anyway believing that we would get anyone half as good as Poch is a bit rich do you really want Mourinho (god no) and with Levy in the background would any manager in their right minds come anywhere near the club I'll reserve judgement on Poch for a few weeks but I liked AVB until he got a bit big for his boots could always ask big Sam to help out

What you stating is correct, but it is immaterial to the question at hand.
Which club spend more on new players? With spending the new players acquired. Net income is not the factor that reflect spending on new players. It maybe that none were acquired , like in Spurs case. You can say that LFC is a better run club and I wouldn't disagree to it. But it was presented as if they spent the same and got a better team. That is not true.

    Club A: Gross spend $100m (5 in), Receive $100m (5 out), Net $0 m
    Club B: Gross spend $0m, Receive $0m, Net $0m

Club A finishes above Club B. Can we say off course you expect Club A to finish Club B. Look at the money they've spent $100m vs $0m. Club A spend to replace departing players whereas Club B didn't spend as they are no player departures.

The example is over simplistic. But it illustrates why net spend and not gross spend is a better metric. Whether Pochettino was talking about gross spend or net spend over the last 10 years, I don't know and didn't think about it.

The actual outlay from Spurs on Players last 5 years is in region of 120m while Pools 155m so there's about 35 mil difference on actual player recruitment.

But net spend is only 6 mil difference with Liverpool having recouped more.

Again all this Poch has had his hands tied feel sorry for him he's punching above his weight is a myth.

He's worked with relatively the same money as Chelsea & Liverpool in the last 5 years.

    People need to wake up

What is happening now is something new - buying players expected to go straight into the starting eleven and the replaced player will be one who the manager previously had as first choice. Doing that might require a cold/harsh approach. So far the indications are that Poch might not be great at that, some young players were quickly moved out by him but now it is about replacing established older starters. We'll see how soon/well the latest signings come into the starting eleven.
Hindsight is often said to be 20/20 but based on where we were in December last year, how many players should have been brought in during the January transfer window?
& I agree, Poch seems to be better at getting up fitness levels than on improving tactical awareness of players. But we'll see how it goes, replacing him during the season is in my opinion not a good idea.

Read my post #33 on this thread.

Tactical awareness is a talent that differs from player to player and it is an attribute that is hard to improve, if absent. Furthermore it is difficult to assess by scouts. In order not get in trouble with otherwise good performers many coaches prefer to play same system all alone to avoid the confusion.

I do think Fran that Fergie was able to call on limitless funds, which "we" we're not. Sure Poch has wasted money, or at least been partly to blame, but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. But something big needs to change, and very soon.

That's true Felon, but having Coutinho on the credit side of that equation makes a massive difference to the Scousers numbers. Beyond that, we've just failed to buy wisely, period, and why can't we discover thee players whose prices go from 10mil to 50 mil in the blink of an eye - Sanchez and Lo Celso for example, and probably Ndombele......

Doesn't matter how much you have to spend on transfers lads , if you're restricted with wages you're still shopping in Aldi rather then Harrods ...

Please go now Pochettino you have now reduced us to a laughing stock ..Team selection atrocious and substitutions unbelievable. Why are good players in the past two years now suddenly very poor.It would be understandable if it was one or two but we have 6 or 7.Moura Ericson Ali Kane and Son no where near what they were and don’t look interested any more.Trippier intimated that there was trouble in the dressing room when he left and I believe there is unrest whatever the adoring press say about the Tinker man.I don’t care what his fawning fans say but Pochettino must go now and I don’t envy any body taking over because he has drained the life blood from this team. He is and always has been a fitness coach and nothing more

    Farewell Poch.
I've loved so much of the football you've given us and having us dining at the top table but the last 10 months (at least) form is diseased. The CL run last year was incredible. Some may argue that the silverware is all that matters and I would never argue with that having grown up watching the FA cup being lifted on regular occasions, but the emotions from that quarter against City and the semi against Ajax will stay with me till my dying day.
However, at this level this form has to stop even if it means starting the 'project' over again.
After this result Levy must surely be dipping his pen to the ink on your farewell cheque. Even he knows that despite the investment he has put in you it's as much on his shoulders when it fails and he has to be seen to be ahead of the game in preventing carnage that we will surely endure if we carry on with the same.
I've always said that regardless of previous spells of poor form you had the dressing room, and sure enough the team would come back with a blast. But that now is clearly not the case. The motivation is gone. Everyone can see it. Team selections are perverse. It seems even the players don't understand what you are trying to do. I believe Erikson may be the virus that installed that and should have gone in the summer for a sum but like any virus if left untreated it will multiply.
So sad, because you had us all believing once again for a few years. But it turned out only to be that devil in disguise -> hope!

Am I right in thinking Rafa is currently a free agent?

This season - and tonight's result - is increasingly mirroring Ossie's last throw in 94/95. Getting beaten by Notts County in the League Cup did for him early that year - I wonder is Colchester going to do the same for Poch ? And, as an after-thought, what is Eriksen doing in the side. He wants away, he's playing absolute brock, leave him out. Oh, I forgot, silly me, he's our "dead-ball specialist" isn't he. Pity that doesn't seem to extend to corners, free-kicks and penalties then. Petty of me to write this but I'm p*ssed off yet again. J*sus.

Following on from my previous post I have just watched thr debate on sky and Pochettino has not received any criticism from the panel including Tim Sherwood but other managers like the Everton man have been castigated .Can anyone explain what the hold is that this man has over the media which allows him a free run.Cant wait to see his after match comments where he blames everybody but himself.I know other teams made a lot of changes but their back up players are strong unlike ours .wait and see how many are in the squad on Saturday when Southampton probably stuff us

Well that's the title race n league cup out the way , just the FA n CL left.
Oh n the top 4 'cup' although that's looking less likely everytime Pochettino uses the names in hat method to pick his side.
