Anyone remember Joe Allen going down like he'd been struck by lightning at the lane a few years ago after minimal contacts from Eric Dier for a penalty ?
That one really pissed me off at the time but apparently thats modern football and i dont remember us carrying on and moaning incessantly when we've been on the end of it. I agree with Harry to a point that its not up to him to get out of the keepers way but for me Lamela's was very cynical indeed, rolling and writhing all over the shop while the ref and the assistant were talking. Ive seen it a couple of times but im not sure of any contacts at all. Right up there with Joe Allen's performance a few years ago so ha frigging ha and get over it.

Everyone is lost at Chelsea after the initial burst - surprises me that so many take on the chalice, knowing the Mafia's record. Ugly owner, club and fans. They all absolutely deserve each other - pity Mourinho didn't stay too, to make it a Full-House of despicable scum.

IMO....Kane goes down too easily....BUT....the keeper is sliding out and doesn't get the ball.
If the keeper chooses to slide...he needs to get the ball. I agree its not Kane's job to take his eye off the ball and hurdle the keeper. If he does that and the ball gets away....ex-pros will say he should have gone down! ..so its a penalty

Also...I'd be interested in seeing what VAR would have come up with leading up to that first penalty. ...IMO Alli is passing to Lamela not Kane.....so Kane is not in play at that point. .....the ball then flicks off Wijnaldum and goes towards Kane....at which point he is on-side as its has come off of a defender. I don't think the touch by Lovren makes a difference to on-side or off-side. ...s I say IMO.

The second penalty is a foul anywhere on the pitch.....so is a penalty. ...van Dik is watching the ball and not Lamela....so doesn't see him nip in. I think he does kick him in the calf. ...Lamela does make the most of it.
you can tell by van Dik's reaction that he knows its a penalty

Thank god there is a team that look wobbly in the top 4 coz we have done ourselves no favours overall this season.
    Top 4 is ridiculously important

We need to be positive about our prospects felon....we've hopefully wasted all the home points to lowly teams for this term .... As for the Gooners, we have to prove we are better than them....a BIG performance is an essential. Think I'd go with Victor and Moussa.....COYS.

Well I have to say the furore over the match at the weekend is starting to get on my graw now .. I'm not condoning diving for a second , in fact it puts me off the game if I'm honest and the regulars here will know how often I've slated our own players for it over the years but the pontificating by fans of other clubs , especially sh1t bags down the road and Scouserpool is nothing short of embarrassing .. People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones yee short memoried Muppets .. By the way I do believe Kane dived as well as Ali and i think it's bullsh1t and listening to our manager justifying it doesn't sit well at all with me personally , but my biggest gripe about last weekend is having to listen to so called experts who are getting very well paid for their so called expert opinions who don't know the damn rules of the game .. The offside rules have changed since most of them played the game and whether they agree with them or dislike them is completely irrelevant .. You'd imagine the first thing any so called commentator or pundit of any sport is to be up to date with the rules or rule changes of said game .. Now if they accepted the decision was actually the correct one but then explained their dislike of the modern rule there wouldn't be a problem but calling it incorrectly and still saying the ref was wrong even tho it's been explained umpteen times by now is unacceptable by so called professionals .. You shouldn't have air time on TV or radio if you don't understand the feckin rules .. Again I personally don't like this new interpretation of being onside or offside , it's just too complicated and there are times like the last day it doesn't make a lot of sense but it is what it is and the very least we the paying viewers should expect is these so called experts should understand them .. As for scouser fans , it just glosses over what Yee really should be looking at , why Yee were so sh1t for the whole of the sec half , why Lovern messed up once again , he should have easily cleared the ball but nearly missed it completely and then at the end of the game why your new 75 mill pound defender didn't clear the ball first time and the game would have been over .. Don't forget Kane missed the first pen , in all likelihood Yee would have lost the feckin game if he hadn't missed but Yee ended up with a point Yee scarcely deserved but sure none of the real issues matter do they .. Your shortcomings are always someone or something elses fault , nothing new there I suppose and to think Yee and the media in general refer to Yee as the most knowledgeable fans in the world , lol some feckin nonsense that is ... Rant over ... C.O.Y.S ...

Yep. Also an OG from United and tonight from those perennially big hitters Newport County (Exiles). Not enough quality efforts on goal. Lots and lots of slow possession, but very little end result. However, we are marching (staggering?) on. COYS!

Re Burnt's last post - Savage, in one of his Mirror columns a few weeks back, was making his point about soft free kicks. He said he "absolutely would" go down to earn a penalty, it's part of the game sez he - now it's cheating unless it's one of his Manchester Utd darlings. Oh by the way - did he mention that he was one of the Class Of '92 ? J*sus, If I hear/ read that again.........

So - big H sticks another knife into them, but owing to well documented reasons I saw and heard nothing other than the result and, thanks to Sofascore, the goal. Fill me in guys.

Totally dominated them GMc, despite the 50;50 possession stats, 18 shots against 6, 6 on target v 1. We dominated them, particularly in the second half, Kane was great and got MOTM from BT (Robbie Savage). Personally I would have gone with Moussa who had an awesome game.
They had a chance late on but Lacazette pulled it wide - that would have been a tragedy if they had nicked it. Good all around performance for me. Great cross from Davies for Kane to bully Koschelny off the ball and head home.
And another record crowd - over 83,000.....get In.
    COYS

Should've been 4 or 5 but I'll take 1 - nil and the three points. Cant remember seeing Dembele play so well, untouchable and a class above rest of the field.
As usual some heart in mouth moments near the end when Lacazette put one wide. Deserved win but we need to be putting away these chances.

Ultimately when we're playing that lot the result is all that matters , great day , great result ... We weren't flying first half , we were comfortable but struggling to really get our own game going .. Second half was different , we took them apart really , everywhere except where matters most the scoreboard and in the end we were damn lucky not to throw away 2 more points , Boy it would have hurt big time and I'm sure most of us were predicting it when we were missing chance after chance , lol ... We've missed some big chances over last few games , could easily have scored 3 ,4 or even 5 today and against the Mancs and the penalty against the whinge bags and still managed to get 7 points ... There's been some really good spells in them games , Dembele fit and firing is so important to that midfield , the others are so called holding midfielders but why do holding midfielders have to be so limited , it baffles me ... It's been a really good run so far in what was looking a right tough run of games on paper , was a make or break period and in fairness to them they've responded brilliantly with some spells of our best football this season i.m.o ( bar the feckin finishing ) .. All of a sudden Wembley is not looking a problem anymore , we,re looking strong there at the moment , jeez I hope I don't jinx it and don't forget where the FA Cup semi and Final will be played ... Lol would be interesting to see who's the first to to cry about Spurs having an advantage by playing them games at their temp home after all the Wembley curse stuff at the start of the season , but that's for another day , we have to get that far first of course ... We've got to keep going now , we seem to be building up some nice momentum playing wise and squad wise with lads coming back from injury , so hopefully this time it's onwards and upwards ... C.O.Y.S ....

My only regret is that Kane's volley did not go in because it would have been the assist of the season. Trippier took a quick free kick just outside our own box and then sprinted forward, Ericksen took the ball forward and passed back to Trippier who then nutmegged Jack Wilts and put in a superb cross/pass to Kane. Trippier is already way better for us than KW was, and he is getting better every game.

Got to say its a fantastic run of form from a difficult sequence of games. A score draw at juve would be a mega result heading into another win able Cup tie sat. The squad is now injury free hence even able to leave out fully fit Toby Rose winks and lesser extent llorente yesterday in a massive game. Look in good nick to take third place if not second and hopefully lifting a cup.

Get In, indeed Bazza - and big credit for an A+ report !! Cheers. Assorted buddies at the Sunday Morn part-timer told me that we should've really put the Goons away - but hey - 3 BIG points and on we go. COYS.

It shouldve been 3-0 minimum, would've been scandalous had they equalised at the end but the doors always open if you only have a 1 goal advantage for your dominance.

Big Fran - A kind Spursman has been on my case re streaming and things moved on a bit but a difficulty arose, hence the "loss of vision". It is hoped service will resume shortly, but owing to Pensioner status and relative non-too-tech-savvy abilities, it remains to be seen how it progresses. I had the pleasure (or not) of the first 5 minutes yesterday and it then went t*ts-up. We'll see. Thanks for your input anyway.

In a strange way felon I wasn't too worried and left at 88 feeling really good. Watched the last 6 at home....that would have been so sad had we let one in. Misses by HK -2, Alli, Lamela.......even the Trippier volley. Some papers gave Cech MOTM, although for me it was Moussa - don't get booked in Turin lad, you know what those CL refs are like.
