One step forward and two steps back the ongoing project is delivering again.

Once again we are playing catch up from the off. Huffing and Puffing unable to blow the house down.

We threw 2 points away today against a stubborn Burnley side who in fairness fought well.
Had our chances been taken we could/should've ran away with it.

After having spent the whole summer snoozing we have finally sprang into action signing a 3rd rate Keeper, a 20 year old CB and are of course making long winded negotiations over a further 2 defenders.

This is yet another bizarre window where we have just smashed our transfer record on a 20 year old back up CB.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but 38 million on a back up CB surely could've been wiser spent on a pacey forward????

Take a look at how Liverpool shredded the scum apart today with pace, Salah and Manè ran riot.
Again Chelsea's against Everton chances were carved out of Willian, Pedro and Moses all using bursts of pace.

We're still playing our ponderous 1 paced football and it's no Wembley hoodoo it's lack of pace and quick ball on a large pitch that is undoing us.

It makes it easier for teams to sit in read what we are doing and the longer it goes on the more confident they become.

The still ever present lack of any in game management to do something different when things aren't going to plan is evident again.

The team isn't crying out for more defenders - it needs quality forwards that create and put the game out of reach.

We're still doing the same predictable things, we're dropping points nice and early, still don't know what the squad looks like for the season and will yet again fall short business end due to this.

But as we're a club that doesn't believe in achieving trophies and giving ourselves the best start and platform to do this - it won't matter to most.

Exactly. And abother young defender on his way and another 10-12 million wasted. these are purely for long term gain and not addressing the real problem in attack ...pace.without another proven quick forward and quality pacy winger we will struggle.levy holding club back ..only interested in profit for owners.best manager and team in years not funded properly.expect another last minute panic buy or a huge bid for a top player which dosent meet the deadline and a negative net spend.

We have 4 days to either invest in this team sensibly and add pace into our attack with the new right back or go backwards.

Pach said Ali and Kane needed to be challenged with quality players ...that means 4 more singings with Aurier and Foryth.

He also said a minimum of 3 .. i hope he is not including Foryth .. yet another centre back !!!

All the signs are we will be short changed again.

Levy wont spend...i hope i'm wrong.

What is that you want to spend on? Just tell what this team needs are before bluntly placing the blame. As far as I know, Spurs have the world class offence and the best defense in EPL. Our defensive midfield may not be the best, but it is quite formidable. Which teams have better than Dier/Wanyama-Dembele pair out there? Pogba-Matic may be, but not every week.
The problem with THFC at this time is lack of depth. That is where the spending should be directed. Other clubs that do not have Harry and Dele address their needs by buying first XI forwards. We have absolutely no needs for first XI forwards or any starter to be exact. We do need second XI. For that Spurs buy players starting with defense, since Spurs second XI do not list dependable stoppers. No RCB, so there is no one to sub for Toby. Now we have gotten one.
Back to Burnley embarrassment, who would you rather replace at the front with new buy? Son? (I do not think you would take Harry, Dele or Christian). Is Son the reason we didn't convert our chances? Not at all. We lost 2 points because of substitutions They weakened the team. And it is not the players that were brought by Poch in , but rather the timing of it. Although quality of the bench is what Poch was lacking since his arrival. So, yes, we need to buy, but we need to buy spare parts, not the machine. We have built one by now.

If you say we need to buy the bench that would keep the first XI on their toes, I would agree for sure. But then the other clubs in contention should not be referred as an examples to follow. Their needs are different, they have to rebuild. Once they are done, our window of opportunity may close. That is why we need to go for the title this season.

I keep seeing talks of Draxler, that would be an amazing signing for us. imagine that, Draxler, Dele and Eriksen in behind Kane.
Sadly I can't see it happening, we'll be lucky if we manage to sign any players who spend their time in the final third.
    Typical Levy.

Spot on Felon with everything! it is crazy we spend £42 mill on a defender when we are crying out for another quality striker/ winger/ right back/ creative midfielder/ game changer! i just don't get our screwed up transfer policy! we don't spend any money then splash out £42 mill on a defender WTF?? also season after season we are trying to sign players when the season has already started and we lose points because of it and give the others a big head start! if by some miracle we are 4 points off the top 4 at the end of the season and miss out we know who to blame this is no way to run a football club and to try to win things no wonder the players and fans are getting so hacked off with this every year but we know Levy won't change he is money first at the cost of winning something. As for yesterday we should of shut up shop and not gone for the second goal, we got caught last week when our right back was up field and we repeated the same this week and that has nothing to do with Wembley it is just being naive and not learning by our mistakes! teams will put numbers behind the ball like cheatski and Burnley did so it is up to us to break them down but we are relying on Eriksen really to create something we need more options of pace, creativity and yes definately another striker to compete with Kane and keep him on his toes look at Woolwich 4 strikers, cheatski 3 strikers, most clubs have at least 3 but most have 4! we have got 1 because Poch will not play Janssen or gives him 2 minutes at the end!!! anyway end of rant i could go on and on....Levy needs to get his finger out and get us some decent attacking options instead of buying all these defenders! Coys.

Wembley woes seems to be on every critics lips at the minute. The signing of a quality defender, with the possibility of another, looks interesting but the lack of pace on a pitch like Wembley seems to be a bit of an albatross at this moment in time. Yes we have spent at last, and the one or two signings should, at least, strengthen this squad but its the lack of investment in a another quality forward and more attacking options that is the problem here. We dominate, create chances, keep possession but ultimately squander it when it matters. Im afraid we are not going to win anything this season ( I will eat humble pie if we do) and the longer the lack of success from a promising team and manager goes on, i expect more departures from our team along with Kyle Walker!

I'll give u a scenario here Spurporter - international break Alli and/or Kane get injured, where's enough consistent goals gonna come from to win matches?

Or dips of form, who's causing other sides problems?

We could so badly do with a Manè type player at least coz without Pace or options especially on a bigger pitch were just too predictable.

Everton away next followed by Dortmund the side needs to get its backside in gear else this season could be write off before its begun.

Then we'll see the true reasoning behind buying so many defenders watch this space.........

You can add 30 mil for Sissoko to that as well

I'm gonna keep it short and sweet....... we lack blistering pace and creative directness in the final 3rd in the mould of mane and salah that's the type of players we lack and it's so obvious !!!

Thing is we should have got involved in both the mane and salah deals. There dont seem anyone out there to sign at the minute that fits the bill. Vardy maybe??

Any body concerned about Ali,his lack of celebration after his goal,no fancy hand shakes,no smiles,in fact the entire team lacked any form of joy at the goal, last season we played every game with a smile and back slapping when we scored, the team wanted to play the match, wanted to win now, nothing. It is not just pace we lack,we had a striker on the bench instead Poch puts the donkey Sissoko on,why keep Janssen if he is never going to be used???some thing is not right....

The body language is not right for sure at the moment ... There's definitely something not right ...

Everyone knows we lack pace but that wasn't the reason we messed up yesterday ... It's quite simple , we didn't take our chances , we had plenty , it just didn't happen ... As for our ponderous football , would that be the same ponderous football that got us 2nd & 3rd over the last few seasons , conceeding less then everyone else and scoring as much as most ... Also everyone knows Wimmer ain't good enough and Carter Vickers needs more time if he's ever to be good enough , so we go and try and sort that problem by replacing both , but low and behold that's not good enough for us either ... Yes I know we need more up the top end aswell but that doesn't mean strengthening the other end should be overlooked .. Maybe as some are suggesting , we are preparing ourselves for the inevitable ( others leaving ) , well if that does turn out to be the case then it's also the right thing to do ... The inevitable will happen sooner or later lads , there's no way we're hanging onto these guys under the current financial situation ... That's for certain .... Get used to it ... C.O.Y.S .....

That is SO on the money Del. We've lacked pace since Bale left. The quality the Pool showed makes our 68% pedestrian possession a total waste of time and effort. Losing two pacy full backs from last term has left us sadly exposed.
Eriksen passed backwards, Son look knackered too early and Harry is short of luck.
Without quality added in midfield and up front we will be lucky to finish top 6. My pre season view was 40 points at Wembley would be a good return for such a challenging venue change. We've 17 matches and 51 points to play for and now need 39 ......like 13 wins out of 17.....mmmmm, might need to relook at the forecast Bazza.

Little or no chance that we can keep them, particularly if there is no CL coming our way in 18-19....also burnt that wasn't the form or standard we achieved in finishing 2nd and 3rd, it was the pre Kane/Dele/Son era, with Walker and Rose pushing on speedily....

I think if we remember correctly this is exactly the type of football we,ve got at the start of every season under Poch ... Of course we,re missing the pace from our fullbacks , but we always start slowly ... Don't forget these two fullbacks were constantly in the side towards the end of last season when we were rinsing everyone , 12 wins in our last 13 games ... Funnily enough I don't remember anyone talking about our lack of pace back then ... Don't get me wrong here I do accept the team as a whole lacks pace but it's been overblown at the moment due to our results ....

So you want to buy the bench players? Good news. But you want to buy them at window's opening or early anyway. Bad news is there are certain times in the window for starting XI and second XI. Potential starters go at the beginning. By August they all transferred, normally. When we wanted Ali, Levy got him even one window before he was available, so he loaned him back. Most players acquired for Bale money were purchased early in the window.
This time our targets are those who would agree to play second fiddles. With some possibility to get a chance for first XI. These are mostly young prospects that want to move up to better club, get better pay and work for coach who promotes. Our competitors in need of first XI do not look at those rightfully considering them not quite ready. So they stay unclaimed till window's end. That is when Levy will pick them up at most advantageous terms for Spurs. Can he lose one or two? Yes. In this case Levy would need to overpay not to get entirely empty-handed. That what has happened with Sissoco. And that is difference in philosophy Poch is talking about. Spurs cannot buy trophies, they can only win it by development its own players.

No I want to buy 1st team quality Squad players, players that give the players on the pitch and Poch a headache.
Seriously I don't get this we have 1 striker no one can or should challenge him????
The only thing that does is creates complacency/comfort. Even Poch has said so.

I understand we only ever play with one up front so to speak but what about the good ole 4 -4-2 formation with a couple of pacy wingers? The likes of Bale and Lennon( i know his crossing wasnt great at times) havent been seen since. I just think we can be predictable on occasions and while playing 3 at the back against Chelsea at home last season reaped dividends, it was clear from a week last sunday that Chelsea woudn't suffer a repeat of that. Why on earth dont we start with n'kodour ( spell check plz) and Janssen up front with a stuttering Harry Kane in a system similar to that under Redknapp? I often feel some players simply dont have enough game time and how can anyone be expected to pull a rabbit out of a hat with just 30 seconds of play on the pitch? Subs need to be made alot earlier. In the meantime, i wont accept that Janssen is the worst striker in THFC history ( Not just yet anyway) As always Coys!

Do not think their sub, Woods? would not have looked out of place in our squad.
Has pace, can find the net and may have been cheap enough for Spurs.
The lack of celebration is a worry.
Now Walker has doubled his money, the others will want that, this is a job to them, we would all move for a double your wage offer.
Cannot see CL in our future, next season.
Think more than a few will agitate for moves next season.
We had a fantastic opportunity to leap forward after our second placed finish but we most definitely have taken a step or two back.
    Such a shame.
