Well, that's possibly a bit harsh. But in the last 3 games, Spurs have managed to disappoint, frustrate and annoy.
Against West Brom we were toothless. Against Chelsea we spent the first half doing what we have done best all season. Being patient but being slick and incisive when it was needed most. In the second half we were a disgrace. I know there have been many who have applauded the actions of Dier, Rose, Walker, Lamela but I cannot. No matter how much goading the Chelsea players did, the Spurs players let themselves and the fans down.
Today we were okay for 45 minutes but after that we were plain awful. The passing was abysmal, Rose suddenly resembled the Player of 2 seasons ago and Kane was non existent. Even the crowd were flat. The Saints fans enjoyed themselves, the Spurs fans were as flat as the team.

Son's goal was well taken, showing desire and a cool head. He has talent and I think with more game time will become pivotal to our future Spurs squad.

Arsenal now have the chance to finish second. Where Spurs did not lose the title, if they finish third, then they will have lost that runners up position. Whilst the top 4 wasn't really what I expected at the start of the season , when you get into a position, you have to take it. And a win at Newcastle will give us that deserved runners up spot. We have to take it regardless of what the red and white shite do today.

It feels somehow wrong to moan about today and the last 3 games, but this is football and it's points that win titles. I feel frustrated that we have just bowed out so limply.

But, we have a good manager and a good foundation to now build on. We certainly need to do business in the summer though. Firstly we need to sell the players that add nothing to the squad.
As much as I have tried to defend Carroll, he clearly has no future at the club.
So, along with him,the players we need to sell are: Mason - showed on Monday and today what a poor player he is. His passing is awful and reading of the game just not good enough at Premiership level.
Bentaleb- not played much this season but when he has he has shown that he is not good enough.
N'Jie- he kind of reminds of when George Weah's cousin was signed and people thought he was a real footballer. I know he has been injured but when he has played , I can't remember him passing to anyone other than an opposition player and he couldn't run round a traffic cone let alone another player!

I think those 3 must be sold. They have tried but they just are not good enough.

We then need a midfielder as back up for Alli, another as back up for Dembele and we still need that second striker. Of course Poch will look to further bring through the academy, but we must make good signings to add to a talented squad.
We also need to quickly tie the likes of Eriksen, Lloris and Kane down to newer and longer contracts.

I am sure that by now, most of you have read the yearly installment of the Daniel Levy love letter to the fans. Some have said it is a positive and welcoming statement. Maybe we should all take a closer look? There is a telling part where he refers to Spurs having to deal with difficult times. Why would he say that?
Considering his past dealings, I expect what he means is that we will sign no one because the stadium has to come first.

As much as this season has been a surprise, what the chairman should be saying is that we can build on this and continue to challenge for the Premier league title. But he doesn't, and that concerns me. He is still more interested in the profit margin than success in the pitch!

We now have to move on to the Geordie pantomime, who should be relegated by then, and we need to beat them to keep onto our best ever premier league finish. One last push is required.

A season that started with pessimism, blossomed with optimism and seems to be finishing with disappointment.

But, as ever, and today with not much lustre, Come on you Spurs!!!

We're all entitled to an opinion. Your comments unfortunately are full of the garbage Spurs don't need. Your negative, inane and pointless review of Spurs season is minute as is the intelligence shown by you. That we are in CL is admirable. Yes we need players and more than one! So stick you "Same Old Spurs" up your ar*e and if you don't appreciate the season thus far don't piss me and the multitude who embraced the new Spurs

Typical Spurs bottle it again no plan b and let down us fans with another dire display! Overall a good season but wish the players would take the chances that have been wasted time and time again. Very frustrated with poch today not once did he leave his seat to urge the players on it jst felt like they've already finished the season with nothing to play for but in all honesty it means so much to finish above those knobs down the road but again throw that away aswell !!!

People have been saying for months now that Pochettino has finally ended 'Spursyness' - pity no one told the players! As for the future, I've no doubt that Levy's support for Pochettino is based solely on bringing players on from the academy, or buying cheap, so the idea that he'd be opening the wallet for big names this summer was always far-fetched - as I and others have said, THIS season was our big chance, and I don't think we'll be so close again for quite a while.

After this result my sadness goes to the top! In my opinion a Tottenham team without Alli and Dembele worth almost 40% less ... Today went in this way and Saints are a good team...my disapointment is high: Saints made only two shots on goal = 2 goals but we made a poor match. Let' s go to Newcastle to win! As ever COYS!

Have to agree. Today was ****. players looked tired and not interested. poch had a look of given up
we have bottled it - given in to experienced players / teams that have used tactics to knock us off our game. we need to learn that. Why take Son off today ? looked our best player etc everyone else was below par.And yes shame on our fans today - didn't do enough to lift team - hear the noise at Leicester - now there is a lesson also.
if the Barcodes are still in with a chance to stay up we will lose again up there and will not finish 2nd. shame as we have punched above for most of the season and played some wonderful football
Just hope we do get a couple of upgrades for next season as we will need more depth for Europe
I have enjoyed this season as I can see we have progressed under Poch and feel we have entered into a new era. Gotta get new stadium up and running (many yrs overdue) then we can push on

  7. The West Brom game was good. There was some wonderful football played that night. Maybe some over confidence made our team lose its path but it was overall a very good game. Without those clear cut chances missed courtesy of the goal posts we would not be arguing about this match.
I agree that today's game was a different story but Spurs had overall a very good season. Trying to obliterate it is blatant intellectual dishonesty.

    A dissapointment?
Our end to season form has been awful.

The table doesn't lie and just because the establishment have been abysmal it does not mean weve been exceptional.

Win the next game and we finish on 73 points our highest point finish in the Premier league era by 1 point, anything less and weve not even bettered that. And in any other season we'd be struggling for 4th.

And if we let the scum over take us on the last day then we have well and truly bottled it.

The team is a solid functioning unit but lacks killer instinct/quality at times and has no idea how to change or adapt when our 1 style is not working.

We need to improve our squad especially our attack. We need to work on more than out running the other side. Hard work is the basic back bone of a decent side its not some new innovative way of playing. And it only seems such because of the shocking post Arry seasons where we were all over the show yet still around the same points achievement.

All I see is moan and groan. Wake up the lotta you. Our best 12 are on par with any team in the league. Yep without Alli and Dembele we are 30-40% worse off. Yep we need another 3-4 players. Yep we should ship Mason Carroll Chadli NJie (sorry this cat is average at best) Methlab and there's probably others. Today showed up our weaknesses regarding depth. **** guys we are in the CL next year stop whinging

You might regard this as heresy but after the title of your article I think we're all entitled to spout boll*x once in a while.

Lloris isnt a title winning goalkeeper. Hes horrendously overrated, inconsistent and his distribution is up there with the worst in the league. He doesn't command his box properly at set pieces either. Think scum away, West Brom at home, today's game. I say we take United's offer of £30mill when it comes in from the sale of De Gea and take Jack Butland at Stoke. Hes consistent, he's English, and he's young.

Not to bemoan the squad, obviously, and Hugo himself hasn't had a bad season - just so frustrating at times. Schmeichel for Leicester seems unable to put a foot wrong in comparison.

Still, we need a point at Newcastle to secure second place as the scum will beat Villa. COYS

I have to disagree, Lloris isn't worth a new contract, sure he makes saves but a good goalkeeper is judged by his mistakes, and this guy nakes plenty of them. Look back at the season and see how many goals he has cost us before someone says "how many points he saved us" , he makes far too many bsic errors, Newcastle at home, Arsenal at home, and today the list goes on.

We are all entitled to our opinion and then you sped your entire comment telling me that actually I am not?!
Spurs have been excellent this season and will finish higher than any of us really expected. Which my article clearly states if you had read it at her than simply reading the headline and deciding to make comments without even putting your brain into gear.
What I have done is put things in perspective. To finish third considering the season we have had would be disappointing. Finishing below Arsenal would be heartbreaking.
We have a good foundation of a squad and a great manager so the long term looks good.
However, if we are to say that we have Sally made massive strides this season, we must now finish second.
To finish below a very poor Arsenal side would leave a bitter taste surely?
I am a pessimistic Spurs fan and I admit that. I am optimistic for the future but now we have gone so close, we cannot go into next season with any other ambition than challenging for the title.

It is gracious to say we are all entitled to our opinion, which I agree with, but to then follow it up with little intelligent comment or reasoning , defeats your point.

Spurs will win the league provided we invest in the team and deal sensibly in the transfer market.

I'm not trying to obliterate our season at all. But, the fact remains that we must fishing second. If we finish below Arsenal again, and a very poor Arsenal, how can we really say that we have improved massively?

Well I have been following Spurs for over forty years and have to say that the last three games have been as bad as anything I can remember to end a season; yes indeed same old Spurs. There were flashes early against WBA and scum but like today after the first 20 minutes we have been dire, awful, clueless but why?
We simply must get a result against Newcastle..

We must get a positive result at Saint james park! Only one focus: win against Toon! For the second spot is enough a draw but for our PRIDE ... A WIN! I hope that Poch and the Lads are thinking the same thing!!! The season is not over. As ever COYS

Only one focus: win against Toon. Is Poch thinking the same thing? It would be shameful does not get the second spot...it is a waste of time to be optimist for the future when we are fully lose in the present...awake up stop to believe being a great team ...we must be a great team. As ever COYS!

Today's result is pathetic - fact. We have no1 to blame but ourselves and to now finish 3rd (in the circumstances) would be Spursy, it's the likely outcome ffs. We certainly didn't deserve to win the title.

For me, as superb as they are, Alli and Mousa's lack of discipline is costing us and they have to learn.

Remarkable that we now need to go to the Toon and get a result.

Please do NOT implode on the last day boyz.

Were average without Alli and Dembele, this isn't news if you've been paying attention over the season. We can just about manage without one, lose both and we go back to sideways passing and conceding stupid goals. Still work to be done and money to be spent. Everyone is now waiting for us to screw up again Newcastle, lets not give them the satisfaction.

Seriously - u can't dig out Hugo. I certainly wouldn't sell him. A sound keeper and a leader.

    Jog on!

totally agree. As a captain he has made too many mistakes. And the team as a whole has this attitude of passing backwards , sideways and slowly until the opposition knows exactly you move and the door to move in the goalmouth are closed. Also the team never does or lacks training in defending corners and attacking in corners... These are very evident to me and most important the desire to kill the game is totally absent!!

This way sadly, I can't see us in top 6 next season. For those who don't agree, I correctly predicted Spurs fate as is now at the start of Jan!
