Prime Minister David Cameron may have announced the date for Britain’s European Union referendum, but I reckon Spurs’ Commander-in-Chief should wave a final goodbye to the continent much earlier than expected.

The UK will make their decision on Thursday 23rd June, but it’ll be 3 months after Spurs jump off the European bandwagon if Mr Pochettino has the same mind-set as me going into tomorrow’s home clash with Borussia Dortmund.

The Argentine revelation saw his side humbled by the Bundesliga’s second best side; the likes of Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ruling the roost as the cockerel fell to it’s knees in Germany.

And that’s why I believe he should bubble wrap our stars and give the kids a go at clawing back the 3 goal deficit.

Poch nailed his colours to the mast in the Westfalenstadion, leaving Eric Dier at home and benching Harry Kane, even before this weekend’s 3-point-gift at Villa Park.

Inexperienced heads such as Josh Onomah and Tom Carroll felt the full force of Thomas Tuchel’s finely oiled machine, his Rolls Reus taking the headlines with a brace.

A full strength side now would make no sense. It was widely observed that Pochettino himself, furnished with a starting XI of pensioners, could have triumphed against an Aston Villa side who have themselves given up on everything bar breathing.

If he wanted to contest this competition, he could have.

And so he must stick to this trend tomorrow – put his faith in youth, inexperience and exuberance, and continue his so far heroic charge for the Premier League title.

The likes of Cameron Carter-Vickers and the aforementioned Onomah could gain valuable experience against Dortmund’s established stars, while Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen have surely seen it all before. There’s no need to risk an injury that would derail our domestic freight train.

I have no doubt that Pochettino will prove me wrong – so is the nature of the man. He won’t want to roll over. He won’t want to surrender this one in front of our home support – and so he shouldn’t; after all, the game is about glory.

But the harsh reality is that the boss’ team selection in Germany already made him a firm supporter of the Premier League Independence Party.

I agree the damage was done last week - play the second string team tomorrow night and save the regular stronger first teamers for Bournemouth on Sunday and the remaining fixtures in the league and guarantee ourselves that much sought after Champions League spot - that was always the goal - anything else (title for example) is an added bonus. The disappointment from last week in Germany comes from the fact that it was Silverware I personally felt that we could win. Anyway thats behind us now - consolidating our league position much be the only priority now.

As supporters lets just accept that we really do have a chance of the Premier League.......and that we don't have a chance of the Europa League.

Painful maybe, but those 33 million fan days given by all of us over 55 years have a voice, and it far exceeds the voice of the EL fans.

After fielding the stiffs last week, there is no sense in playing the Golden 11 tomorrow.
Now that would be criminal, after giving away the round last week.

With the run in also this could be the last chance to keep potential stand in players match fit incase of injury on the home straight.

Eriksen is to be rested, as will Dembele. Total yoof squad for this Europa tie, it's gone. We should fight for a top 3 place now as our only priority. The title chase is over, Leicester not going to throw it away now, plus their run-in could not be easier. It only gets tough in the last three games for them, by which time they will have sealed the title. Plus every man and his dog, apart from Spurs fans, wants Leicester to win (including players).

If you were a Foxes fan you could not have cherry-picked their remaining 12 fixtures, ours are tough by contrast with Scousers and Chelski as well as Manc Utd all looking to be potential Jaffa skins.

    As always COYS!

Yep the damage was done last week in Dortmund. Me and thousands of other fans paid for the privilege !! About thirty odd thousand fans have paid forty quid plus for the privilege of watching our reserves tomorrow night. I'm glad you lot who think it's right to field reserves in big games are so flush you're happy to pay through the nose to watch it !! I will never support finishing second as a success !!

    To dare is to do.

My head says give up the tie, my heart wants this spurs side to announce itself in europe.

I reckon Mp will play strongest team. If nothing happens by 60 minutes will sub off Kane alli and another 1st xi player.

Plus surely this is the game all players want to feature in, against the best in europe!

    Coys!

This is my opinion for what is worth. I think the club owe it to the spurs fans to have a go. First half at least. Juve were only a flag away from pulling of a massive shock last night v much better opposition away from home.
Regardless of what people think MP didn't field a team in the away leg to take an hiding and write the tie off on purpose. He tried to rotate and snatch a result. He got it wrong to which he has pretty much said.
Now playing a whole reserve squad with many youth players will do zero for thier fledgling careers believe me. One or two mixed in with a decent 11 and performance could kick start thier careers, send a message to Europe and boost the morale of the squad as a whole.
Get to half time and if nothing is happening pull the big names off by all means.
Lloris Trippier rose Vickers Toby dier bentaleb mason lamela Son Kane.

It's not that we are happy to accept second best, we are in a situation that we haven't been in for years. Brings me back to the point why wasn't the squad strengthened in January for nights like this. We all know WHL has a special atmosphere on european nights.
We must take in consideration that our league status is far more important at this stage. Finishing above the scum and secure champions league place, 3rd spot at the very least will do me. COYS

Well that's that then a totally pointless European venture thrown away buisness end.

    What did we learn?

The depth of squad quality is not big enough.
And we are still way off the European level of good teams.

I wonder when it comes to the Champions League next year will we be playing reserves etc saving our best players for the bottom team in the league?
Will our first teamers be disinterested and unable to play 2 games in a week?

Think we all know the answer even though we have no chance of winning the CL but every chance of winning the EL.
    Food for thought.

    Well said Felon.
At least we only have to beat the minnows of the group next season in the CL to gain entry to the EL final stages.
We do lack squad depth when it comes to changing over half the starting X1 - we have cover in a couple of positions but even with our first team, we can pick 10 players and the eleventh is a case of 'the lesser of three evils' Lamela, Son or Chadli).

    We also learnt that:
You've got to exit with more grace for Spurs sake!!
I may need to change my avatar after that Thursday performance of the lad.
Poch is to blame for lack of depth as well. It is easier to manage smaller squad (AVB did that and ended poorly). Mitchell must be put to work now.
Players playing twice a week must be paid double.

Who is on the bench for Rose against Cherries? Bentaleb? Losing Davies is a huge blow to title aspirations.

Leicester have surprised all of us we have to agree ! Now let us forget the Europa debacle and focus on the PL title. No point looking back we can do nothing about it. It was bad planning and tactics given the lack of depth in the squad. We should have signed an out and out striker and a creative midfielder to cover the EPL and rest players for the PL . Levy as always is trying to do things on the cheap and thinks it is good business sense- what rubbish! It is time we stop underachieving and claim what we are able o doing.
The team MUST BE FOCUSSED and WIN ALL IF NOT 95% of the games left. They must be ruthless stay calm be in control and kill off other teams - be prepared to play for 100 mins -RUN TILL THEY DROP THAT IS WHAT CHAMPS ARE MADE OF - NOTHING LESS! COME ON YOU LILLYWHITES MAKE US PROUD!

Some Spurs players will need to show what they are made of now. Son , Lamela, Chali have got to be goal scorer sand take the pressure off of - KANE ALLI AND ERICKSEN.
Players have got to stop getting injured so easily and play thru the pain barrier- some if you will remember GRAHAM ROBERTS lost three teeth in a game continued playing and won the game. Time to be tough and positive.we need an Alan Mullery to take charge of midfield -give no inch no quarter! NO ROOM FOR COMPLACENCY.

THIS YOUR TIME SPURS DO NOT BLOW IT- YOU OWE IT TO THE FANS AND YOURSELVES.
