A win was a must this afternoon and what better place to go than Aston Villa. Before I go into the game, as a football supporter, I genuinely feel sorry for the Villa fans. From every level, board, manager, players, stewards even, they are being royally....... The players have no heart and the owners don't give a monkies. As much as I am not a Levy fan (did you know that?) I have to admit it could be a lot worse!!!

Anyway, now I've said that, back to today's game. From the 1st minute, unsurprisingly , Spurs went for the jugular. Kane hit the bar after 3 minutes when it seemed easier to score and Lamela found the post when it again seemed easier to score. Was it going to be a frustrating afternoon for Spurs? Nah. With half time looming, Kane fired home and just minutes after the start of the second half slid in again to secure all 3 points for Spurs and we now, temporarily, move to within 2 points of league leaders Leicester City.

During the game I had a quick look at social media and spotted this gem from a Spurs fan, : " this is disgusting from Spurs. Disgraceful. Poch is useless." Now, as a self styled pessimist, even I choked on my beer at this!!! Okay, so it was only 2-0 but we won!! As I keep saying, we are way ahead of where we all thought we would be this season, so that kind of comment is just baffling. Utterly mind boggling.

Alli looked much fitter today and Kane had that sharpness about him he has lacked in recent games. It was also great to see Dembele looking hungry and Toby was again a man mountain.

We now face Dortmund on Thursday in a tie that is surely beyond us, yet if we score early you know we might just start believing again!! It will be interesting to see if Poch sticks or twists.

We then face Bournemouth at home. They will be a different proposition to Villa but they leak goals for fun so Spurs should be confident of another 3 points. Newcastle go to Leicester tomorrow as underdogs but with a new manager, they will hopefully raise their game and get a point or even better 3!!!
We can only do our best but what a crying shame that the Woolwich game wasn't in the league eh?

Whoever it was who posted on social media should be ashamed or drink less loopy juice.

Spurs are in this title race so let's just try behind the team and embrace each game as it comes.

As ever, Come on You Spurs!!!!

Professional result got what we needed.

There is no point chasing a 0-3 agg so I'd like to see all our key players rested, call up the youth Carter vickers etc.

Job done; 3 points and a clean sheet. I thought Alderweireld, Wimmer and Walker played extremely well today. Kane took the goals well too. +29 GD, unbelievable!

PL has to be the primary focus now with 3 points against Bournemouth. Then, take 3 from Anfield and we really put ourselves in a solid position for the tricky run in!

    We can do this.

We may never have a better opportunity than right now to win the league but we do not have anywhere near the depth in our squad as some might say so its time to put this years euro adventure behind us and concentrate on the league in which we have some tough but very winnable games. Spurs fans venting their spleens, nothing new. Have a look at any site, after a win its a ghost town, after a loss its an avalanche of trothing at the mouth Spurs fans. What are they going to say after we win it ? someone the other day said they don't want us win the league because we will lose our best players and it will set us back years FFS. Laughable.
We played well enuf at Villa and we needed to get back to winning ways. There is always peaks and declines with every team, we've had a few lows and then came back strong and peaked around the time we played city. This was a much needed win and by the time that we come up against Pool and Manu we should be cherry ripe and ready to run thru brick walls and win the fecking league for the first time in my lifetime and im fecking old so stop fecking moaning and start fecking supporting.

Lamela was garbage. Missed 2 sitters and gave the ball away constantly. Subbed by Chadli after 88. How he earned right to stay on I don't know. 2/10.

I totally agree with Notnats comments! Even of I think we could won with a higher score and played better after the second goal it was good to win again. Stop moaning and continue to support the team and the manager. Until the last game of the season at least....! The only thing I'm not really confident is Poch substitution.... Why Son never came in for Lamela or Eriksen yesterday and Why again Mason and Carroll on the pitch together. That was the beggining of Villa resurrection....? COYS !

good 3 points. we played well early....and I think would have stepped a gear or two if we needed to.
PL teams will always have a percentage passage of play. yes they had a couple of chances....but I really think we would have pressed them into their own half if they had scored. ...we have that about us now. we don't fold.

we just need to keep winning games. forget what anyone else is doing

Great result for the boys yesterday, we've all seen it before when Spurs have slipped up against teams like that in the past, the game was a lot harder than it looked on paper from a mental point of view. Come on Rafa get your boys going tonight.

First of all it was a great 3 points, it was expected and was delivered. Can Andros do us a favor this evening! I shudder when Poch brings Carroll on, it was no coincidence that we conceded chances when he was on the pitch. Mason & Carroll together on the same pitch is not good. I've been dreaming for a few weeks now, COYS....

Carroll is simply not good enough. I don't understand how he gets pitch time.
Its like a Dads football match...and if the son turns up enough some day one of the team say...'give the lad a game'

Dier and Dembele have to be on the pitch if we want to win the midfield

Villa should have kept Sherwood. Lerner cares, just made a mistake with managerial change.

I am glad that our lads were not affected by loss in Germany as bad as myself. Although when MP reverted to Thursday with Carroll and Mason in the middle, Spurs kind of gone in the same mode and got quite close to conceding.

Magpies to win! Townsend to score (is he back from injury?)!! GOYS!!!

Is it me or does TC look like he needs a rocket up his jacksy and about a stone in muscle....he needs game time on loan again to see if he can man up, for me.

You're right Matt Alli did look much fitter and really sharp. Two assists and a tremendous plus for me. Just need goals from Lamela and Eriksen and we might just do it.....COYS

As a club with ambition do we put out a team to try and over turn a 3 goal lead meaning we need 4 to win against a club that sit's second in Germany,or do we concentrate on what we CAN win the PL Title which means a weakened team on Thursday risking a sanction or fine from UEFA for doing so,and also risking another hammering on the pitch,Poch and Levy must decide what is best for Spurs,The fans deserve the best as they pay good money to watch it,but I think this is one time where they will forgive if we get the PL Title....COYS

I would say....at home....we should be trying to win the game. Okay the first leg backfired as I think Pochy was trying not to lose rather than trying to win.....but picked a poor defensive minded formation.
He now has to show some face. we can't lose at home.

Also....Leicester play on Saturday....so could be 8 points clear before we play on Sunday.
So would a 4-0 win boost the guys!?!? ....and put doubt into the Leicester players minds??

We have to win our games and keep in touch with Leicester. .........FFS....our 1stX1 are youngsters....they can play 2 games in 4 days!

Thursdays team is a tough call for Pochy

Tough call this one especially with Leicester again chalking up a win last night despite a decent toon showing and not playing particularly well. I think we are playing for second place now and maybe worth splitting the eggs into two baskets and a good showing on Thursday to show we can compete at the top level.

Too late. Poch cannot and should not try to undo the mistake made last Thursday. He has to dress the weakest squad possible not be subjected to UEFA penalties. EL has been thrown away. There must be a training match on Thursday.
