Home tie, second leg, nicely poised with an away goal in the bag.

I really want us to progress in this competition it would be great to win it. It seems such an energy zapping contest with long trips, uninspiring ties (mainly), second string, rotation- as a result many a turgid game and is usually a hindrance to everything else.

So it always surprises me that after enduring the opening slog and however it hampers us we play a weakened side and always seem to nose dive out just as it starts getting interesting.

I know we are mathematically bang in a title race but my own opinion is that this should be treated with just as much importance. It would serve as much better prep for a CL campaign next year playing a higher caliber of teams and with the increased pressure of latter cup rounds.

The title race is no dead cert as there are 4 good sides going punch for punch and 2 of them like it or not have some real quality to get them over the line, that's not to say we don't but i just don't want us to put all our eggs in 1 basket when we have the capabilities for both.

Lets have a right go for a European Trophy, as well as the league. Worst case scenario would be a top 4 finish anyway (barring a disaster).

I think its a Big Game and should be treated as such,
Do we want to crash out of 2 cups in a matter of weeks?
Is it good for the squad confidence to go out or progress?
Is it good prep for a CL campaign next year?
Should we focus solely on the Prem instead?

Just wondering what the general thoughts are.

    COYS!

Surely it's important for the confidence we don't go out of another comp in the space of a few days ... Don't care how good we've been up to this point , confidence can be very brittle , and all of a sudden the Pressure is massive going into a crucial week with 3 massive league games ... It happens to teams at this stage every year , they're flying in 3 sometimes 4 comps one week , then 10 days later it all looks so different ... I expect a difficult game , they're a decent side by the looks of it so if we can manage to come out the right side of this one it can only be a good thing going forward I.m.o ... C.O.Y.S ......

I agree that we have to make a good try for the Europa League. Pointless getting into the CL if we cannot compete in this competition. I also think that the earlier rounds are good for blooding new faces and so are not a waste of time - better than pre-season friendlies.

A very big game. A win will increase confidence going into what could be a pivotal week for this Spurs side. A win tonight which now looks certain after a solid display is followed by a tricky trip from a team from Wales, Wet Spam and then we welcome some team from Woolwich to the Lane!!!
