We've done it!!! We've actually signed an attacker!! Well a winger who can play up front.
He scored 29 goals in 87 appearances for Leverkusen having joined them in 2013 from Hamburg.
The reported fee is 22 million pounds and he will be wearing the number 7 shirt at the Lane.
Having watched a few videos of the player, he is good in the air, has good feet, ( a la Crouch) and has a good turn of pace.

It's very difficult to try and analyse how well he will do in the Premier league because he is an unknown quality. On paper he looks good but is he worth 22 million pounds? Is there not a sniff of Desperate Dan here again?
What this signing will do is kill the Berahino deal once and for all. West Brom had already said he wasn't leaving but while ever Spurs were Floundering In the transfer market, there was always a possibility we may go back in with big money.

The question is, is this our final signing of the summer? With Levy you would think not but Poch did say he only wanted one more player to complete his squad.
If he really thinks that I am very worried. If you look at Spurs squad it is wafer thin. A couple of injuries and we are in all sorts of trouble. If Kane were to get injured can we really rely on an unproven player in the Premier league?

With N'Jie and now Son, Poch surely has to change his tactics at long last and deliver the attacking, high pressing, free flowing football he long ago promised us. Let's play with proper wingers, none of this inverted nonsense and actually take games to the opposition, get in front and kill them off.

Poch now has his squad. His team. He will now succeed or fall very heavily on his sword in the coming months. Let's all hope it's the former and start with a convincing win against Everton tomorrow evening.

As always, COME ON YOU SPURS!!!!

Not sure if I am the only one, but I would rather sacrifice the league this year and go for Europa League. We are not going to crack the top 4 until were in the new stadium so why not try winning the Europa League, bit of silverware and CL next season. To do this our league form will dip but I get the feeling majority of our fans only care about the league?
Even if Poch fails this year - which with this squad he might - unfortunately again we are in another transition with all the comings and more so goings, I would stick with Poch. Let him build, it will take time but sometimes you need to go backwards to move forward - lets back him and Mitchell and get behind the team

I still think that Mr Levy should swallow his pride, pay the £25 mil cash for Saido and get Wanyama as well.
Then we would be equipped to go for the top four places, providing that we give Pritchard and Alli as many games as possible, no more loan outs

    COYS!!!

Unknown quantity? Well, he scored roughly 20 in 60 for Bayer Lev and roughly 20 in 70 for Hamburg, so, consistent scoring over 2 seasons in one of UEFA's Big 3 leagues; I'd say that was pretty reliable productive attacking output for which to refer to. Also, our estimations of player valuations are quickly becoming obsolete now that this staggering TV rights deal money is soon to be coming in to the coffers, so I think 22 mill really isn't much for a consistently good attacker from a CL club nowadays.

Also, "Good foot control, a la Crouch'???! That's the one thing he couldn't do, control the ball anywhere below his knees! lol

    COYS

Also, cringe at that beautiful punnery? That's the last thing I'd do, my good man lol

3 games gone already , should have at least got a draw with Man U . The other two we should have won easy . Once again it's going to be a struggle top 6 maybe . I love Spurs but you have to real ,The only way we will ever get to CL spot is for a sugar daddy to buy the club and spend spend spend .

I agree, with the money Man U/City and Chelsea have paid out you would think the top 3 places are sealed - Arse may be vunerable, however Liverpool are also going for Fourth. I would take us getting into the Champs League via the Europa League for sure (this rule should have been around when Chelsea won the CL, but lets not dwell on it!) FA Cup/Europa League Double would be great!

We still need to try and get Berehingo and Wanyama in by Wednesday, with Lennon, Adey and Lamela leaving. I would be happy with that sqaud- so would the accountants with the wage bill coming down drasitcally!

TBH - if we can get the two other signings before Wed, I am pretty excited by the squad. It may take a little while to gel, but the nucleus will be young, fast and hungry. The players that dont want to play for Spurs (or havent played well after numberous opportunities) have been shipped out (a few more to go) and we will have a bunch of good youngsters playing for us for the forseable, if Poch can foster some real team spirit with the new group, and the experienced ones, Lloris, Vertonghen and Alderwield show leadership, we can suprise some people this season. We have a new stadium to pay for, so we cant currently pay £30M plus for a player (those players go to CL clubs anyway) But with what we could end up with, the future should be bright.

Son has proved to be a remarkably consistent goalscorer throughout his time in Germany and that's reflected by the fact that he is one of only four players to score 10 or more Bundesliga goals in each of the past three seasons. The other men in that distinguished group are Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Max Kruse, so the Korean is in good company.

Just to let you know lads, Cracking stat i thought

Not a massive fan of stats as they CAN and OFTEN DO hide a multitude of sins.. but with a goal ratio of 1 in 3 games over a prolonged period for two different sides in one of europes top 3 leagues and also in the CL is a very good return. if he can replicate that at spurs he could be a real quality signing who can play various attacking roles, is quick(very by the way) will stretch play and looks strong in the air. What can go wrong haha.
Now some people will rightly say that Chadli has a similar record for spurs and his previous club but we all know how poor the Dutch league is and as I state above stats don't tell the whole truth. While Chadli's goal record at the club reads well he offers nothing to the cause outside of that but remains a decent squaddie but is nowhere near the standard required for a starting regular 11 player at the level we aspire to reach.
Listening to Talksport yesterday the German football expert says while Son offers all the above that we have talked about he can often be a little lightweight, inconsistent, drifts in and out of games and sometimes struggles to impose himself on games to which the radio host says "You've just signed Lamela"- OH DEAR..
Look there are no guarantees when signing players and the more the fee the higher the risk especially when signing unproven prem players which is why I would have preffered Berahino or Jay Rodriguez but with the premium you pay for English players you cannot blame the club for looking elsewhere for value for money. Over the span of the premier league Spurs have signed many players who have come with big reputations and records but we have been unfortunate than many have flopped for one reason or another much down to luck but fingers crossed this time will be different and we will have a real exciting talent on our hands not to mention the massive commercial revenue that will come from the far east with this purchase£££ (Levy stamp all over it)
Im hoping this isn't just a back up plan to the Berahino deal looking like being off but I suspect it is because if we managed to pull both off I feel well equipped to compete for a top four spot. If not id agree that Poch would be living in cloud cuckoo or just a plain liar to state he is happy with his "completed" squad and a season focused on winning the Europa would be our best shot at a CL spot and maybe target the league cup.

Matt, finally something positive! A la Ramos? Well done.
You had to bring about those inverse wingers, did you not? Let it go, please. They are to run to center, not wide. The width is supposed to be provided by our full backs. They are not inverted. Its not MP fault that both Walker and esp. Davies cannot keep the ball past middle line. I expect Rose and Toby to do better. Alli should start tomorrow. N'ji will be coming off the bench as well. Son could be seen soon. And a few more signings are coming to please you, Matt. COYS!

Chadli can be sold for 25 million right away. Spurs cannot afford to buy in this price range anymore. Better player will cost even more. So we have to develop players that will be eventually better than Chadli to meet what might have been a correct requirement of yours. The other option is to force Chadli to improve. by buying cheap completion to him. Son may not be so cheap but N'Ji is. We got a few own lads to do the same.

I would suggest a look at

    http://t.co/4o8ObzfPuj

For an.in depth look at Son. He's such a star in Korea that he may actually end up paying himself off with sponsorship money that goes to the club.

Also a bit worrying that he may have to spend a bit of time in the Korean military, but hey ho.

Thanks!! Okay, so not inverse but the fact they run into the centre is my point. They run inside and do bugger all!!!
