With the January transfer window set to slam shut in mere hours, Tottenham are yet to conduct any major business this month – but the rumblings in the press continue.

    Mirallas

Most interestingly, The Mirror states that Spurs are ready to make a second attempt to sign Kevin Mirallas from Everton.

It is believed that we have been rebuffed in an initial attempt to land the versatile Belgian but that Tottenham are ready to make a second proposal for the star.

The report states that Spurs want to sign Mirallas in a straight swap, with Aaron Lennon going the other way, but that the Toffees do not feel that the players have the same value.

I am a fan of Lennon and believe he could still do a job for the club, but Spurs are dreaming if they think that Everton will do a straight swap between the diminutive winger and the Belgian.

Offering £5 million and Lennon seems like a proposal more likely to be accepted and would be one that would be positive for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

    Ings

Liverpool are seemingly ready to step up their efforts to land Danny Ings, with The Mirror coining an interesting proposal from the Reds.

The report indicates that Brendan Rodgers’ men are ready to offer £5 million to land Ings and are willing to loan the striker back to Burnley for the rest of the season.

The England under-21 star is out of contract at Turf Moor this summer, but is Sean Dyche’s main attacking weapon and as such Burnley are likely to rebuff any attempts from suitors to sign Ings this month.

However, loaning him back to the newly promoted side actually makes sense and Spurs would be advised to offer a similar deal.

Ings has shown that he is an exciting prospect and can score goals in the Premier League; £5 million would be a great price for him, even if he doesn’t head to White Hart Lane until the summer.

    Kaboul

Finally, The Mirror are at it again, stating that Stuttgart are ready to end Younes Kaboul’s second stint at the club and is high up their January priority list.

The Bundesliga side have identified the out-of-favour Frenchman as a target to shore up a leaky defence but Spurs are eyeing one of their players as part of the deal.

The report states that Daniel Levy is trying to negotiate a deal where exciting attacking prospect Timo Werner heads to North London in a swap deal.

Again, there seems little likelihood that Stuttgart would part company with a young, exciting first-team player to land Kaboul and Levy will surely have to sweeten the deal if he wants the young star.

In truth, if Stuttgart are to offer a cash offer for Kaboul, Spurs should take it and potentially look for a separate deal for Werner in the summer.

With Pochettino’s comments earlier in the month dictating that there is likely to be little-to-no business this month, Spurs fans shouldn’t hold their breath to see any new faces at the Lane this season.

A striker is a priority, I would let Kaboul go for free , get him off the wage bill.Someone like Ings or Benteke , young and hungry

I would get more excited if you stated that we were thinking of swapping our boot cleaner for their tea lady - due respects to our boot cleaner.
Everyone wants a striker, most want a big-name striker, but who wants to come to a club that has two 'big-name strikers' lurking on the fringes of the first eleven. If we had sold the waste at the beginning of the window, obviously at a great loss, we would have been a much more attractive proposition for a prospective new striker. Too late now, we are stuck with what we have got to the end of the season at least.

I read somewhere that Levy wants 10m for Lennon which is probably why he thinks Lennon for Mirallas could be done. Nice bit of business if he could pull it off but its typical Levy asking ridiculous money for a player that doesn't at al look like getting another game this year.
KM would be a good fit and could maybe be achievable if we would ever consider selling Lennon for a sensible price and then buying a player like Mirallas for a sensible price but instead I suspect will will see Lennon staying at the club picking splinters out of his arse or watching from the stands.
As far as the reported deal Liverpool have offered to Burnley this is exactly what we should also be doing, lets face it there's no way that we move Ade or Soldado before the end of season but having a ready replacement to compliment Kane will soon see these two on their way. Danny Ings for around 5m again nice business but will it happen ? of course not. Kaboul, we paid FA for him a few years ago and now he's injury crocked, older and well past his best as well as near the end of his contract but Levy wont sell him for anything less than top dollar. So does anyone seriously think we are doing any business in January ? Poch said at the beginning of this window that we wont be doing anything, he wasn't ****ing around.

If we only make two signings berahino n mirralles would be my choice with the bk four looking more solid with died at cb. A cm would be a massive bonus cabaye/Schneiderlin

  10. Ten million pounds for lennon ha ha ha ha ha if a club offers nine pounds and ninety five pence for him we would be very fortunate.

The rumour we are looking at nabbing Munoz and then selling Kaboul makes sense. That will surely settle our defense in the middle. I agree we need a striker. Liver's deal for Ings is brilliant! We should jump in and offer them more for the same deal. I'll suffer Ade and Bob for the rest of the season. I've been holding out hope that either of them find late season run of good form and help us to more points. Miralles would be an nice upgrade to Lennon, who hasn't offered much more than a little defense. However, we are so crowded in the midfield, does it really make sense? I really like Dembele at CAM for his dribbling and stoutness higher up the pitch. It moves Eriksen out left which isn't too bad either. I'd love to see Poch play 2 CMs moving forward and see if we can unlock some teams.

Everytime the glaring issues are ignored by the board, dof and manager they are failing the club and fans.
Do they not take note of seasons past? Do they not look and see what 99% of people see?
Adebayor & Soldado have 3 goals in over half a season

  13. What will hull do when they discover lennon cant score cant cross and is totally useless.

  14. Gee, why do I get the feeling you're not a Lennon fan? Please turn your mind back a couple seasons when he and Walker teamed up to form a very dangerous right-side combination. It would be interesting to see how many productive events came from their interpassing, crosses, etc. Lennon's a playmaker, not a goalscorer. Okay. Though I loved the goal he scored in Chicago last summer. Good work from Soldado on that one, too.

Addtionally, Lennon helps out on defense immensely and I don't believe he turns the ball over as frequently as Townsend.

I guess it's all moot as Lennon seems set for a season-ending loan to Hull. Such a pity....

Read somewhere that the proposed deal by Liverpool to buy and load back Ings is not allowed by the FA. Rule 7 ish - Not sure about the truth of that though .. disclaimer !!
Apart from maybe one out I cannot really see anything happening this transfer window.
From Ings point of view, leaving Burnley now, he has also said he will stay to seasons end, is not in his best interests.
He will pocket the fee that would be payable now and command bigger wages and a signing on fee when the transfer happens in the Summer. Also Burnley will get approximately £3 million for him anyway. Not to mention as a free agent he can choose from any number of suitors. Also by completing his contract and playing to his best game after game will only enhance his reputation.
