We have a few winnable games coming up, Chelsea aside, which if we win could see us in the top four by Xmas!! It just shows how poor this league is becoming.

Why oh why have you given Rose above a 1 (1 for showing up in correct kit) our defensive issues are down to him. The times that Vertonghen has to cover for him leaving Kaboul exposed! This is not just today it's every week, my brother who is now 30 and a overweight Sunday league player is twice what this guy is!!

The guy is a average league 1 winger at best, Iam certain that if he was out of the side you would see our defensive performance increase immediately

He is SO bad....he's never had great attitude, rather bad attitude....when he needs to be wide, he is too narrow, he ambles back after a misplaced pass...for crying out loud....

The whole defence looks very poor. Vertonghen was not too bad today but Kaboul and he simply do not communicate. Naughton is Championship quality and Rose is simply inept at football.
Too many players are just turning up for their wages and going home with no concern about the results or performances.
Eriksen seems to be going backwards and our best players are Kane, Mason and today Townsend. They show passion although can be naive at times.
If a manager cannot motivate players, he simply is not doing his job.
The interview after the game with Poch was almost embarrassing. At least when we played **** under Harry, he said so. Poch saying we were the better team today was laughable. Yes we won, but the victory failed to make me think we are suddenly going to improve.
The football is turgid, dull and ineffective.

What's best case...Lamela and Eriksen and Soldado come good. Fabio replaces Kaboul, Davies replaces Rose, Walker returns, add Lloris, Verts, Rose, Mason.....nearly there.....see - easy, solved it...you get hysterical don't you...

What are some of you talking about? Why should Mason have been sent off too? Benteke was an arrogant, aggressive twit all game. He pushed Lamela in the back, gid annoyed about being challenged, kicked Mason so he nudged him to have a word and Benteke stuck his head in and then shoved Ryan in the face. Weimann should have been sent off too for about 5 yellow card incidents, when he was only booked for shouting at the linesman when went high and down the back of Roses(?). If they wanted a red for Vertonghen then he should have gone. As for us getting the rub from the ref, a Villa player only had to fall over and a player in claret was shouting at the ref and he gave a foul. Especially first half.

Having said all that, we were absolute ****. All over the shop, and Poch realised he had nowhere else to go but bring Harry on. He didn't want to. He was trying all week to make excuses for not starting him. "I won't be pressurised by the fans". "I won't pick him just because he's Young and English". The guy is an idiot. I bet he's annoyed that Kane scored the winner. He started two strikers who can't hit a barn door and who were woeful. AGAIN. He's got too big an ego without anything to back it up with. I for one would not be unhappy to see him go. I don't care about all this give him time ****. He's displaying too many bad tendencies for team selection and tactics. We are shocking and only one man won that game for us today and it wasn't our manager.

So let's try a possible best team.....
Lloris, Walker, Fazio, Vertoghen, Davies, Mason, Dembele, Eriksen, Lamela, Kane, Soldado......with Benteke arriving in January....sorted....injuries not allowed btw...COYS

And to test the quality of the squad, how many of our players would the Gooners take if they had free picks....Lloris and Verts only imo.....Who would we take from them....Ozil and Sanchez.....

The reason that Mason could, and I say could have gone is because he did put his head into bentekes face and although it would have been a soft red, he could have easily been sent off.
It's irrelevant now though because he wasn't and he is one of our best players. You are spot on about Kane - he won the game, the manager simply gets to live another day.

We do certainly lack strength on the left, unbalancing the side....Bale was such a loss....memories....taxi for Micon....!

See Rose in front of Davies is lateral thinking....Poch would never think of that.....we've got enough Europa games to experiment with.....

I honestly think Rose has been one of our most consistent players this season. Bear with me... last season he was diabolical; the worst player on the pitch more often than not, poor attitude e.t.c. I can't tell you how much I disliked him.

This season he's had an absolute turnaround. He's had a couple of average performances but honestly, he's not done a lot wrong. He was great last week vs Newcastle, great against Arsenal - I could go on. I think he's getting a lot of unfair criticism because of how poor he was last season.

Naughton is in the same boat. He got a lot of stick last season when playing at left back (he was poor tbf) but at right back he looks decent, I couldn't fault him today defensively. He's not world class, or even very good, but he's a solid enough back up. Again, he gets a lot of unfair stick because he's not the most glamorous player in the world.

Watched a sky sports gold the other day- Spurs 9 Wigan 1 an exceptional game yes but what i saw was a team that had no Berbatov, Bale, Modric or VdV in it, instead it had the likes of Corluka, BAE, Huddlestone, Palacious, Krankjar, Crouch, JD, Lennon(when he gave a sh;t) and Jenas and Bentley in the latter stages. What i saw was a balanced team with purpose, movement, quality but most of all pride.
It was beauty to behold and something that has been severely lacking since AVB was appointed.
This core/ethos/team spirit etc has been totally dismantled, we were not the finished article by no means, and we were prone to the odd bad result, but by god we werent an embarrassment totally void of all ideas and passion and teams playing us would actually think they could be in for a spanking by us.
Whats gone on from a management/board perspective is nothing short of scandalous the teams from 8/9 years ago would destroy our current crop with ease. The dismantling, the sales, the sackings, the money recouped, the money squandered, the none existent net spend/investment in the 1st team, the constant excuses on all progression and the stadium is a Fecking Disgrace.
Levy and Enic should be charged for Crimes against Spurs, they have well over stayed their welcome and everytime they fail to buy a player thats needed, of the caliber needed to improve us, while failing to deliver a stadium and charging us through the nose to watch this circus they are laughing at the Fans.
    Get them out Pronto!!!!!!!
BIGGEST PROBLEM AT SPURS MING THE PENNILESS, DANIEL the SILENT DICTATOR LEVY !

It bought a smile to my face when Harry was fending off Lamela from taking the free-kick. Shaking his head saying "No I'm taking this one". :). Another one of Levy's saleable assets given a new deal in the summer. Think we will finish 10th we are that bad. I mean was that even football? I watched the game and I'm perplexed at how a simple game played by highly trained professionals who have done nothing else in their lives can put in such a display to the equivalent of shitting on the toilet seat lid.

Definitely had some luck in this one with Benteke's stupidity ( still like to see him in white in jan ) but a win is a win and three points saved us from slumping even further down the table. That they got a red card is their problem, how many undeserved reds have we suffered lately ? in fact we've had a few dubious ones at Villa park over the years too. I don't really like or condone the behaviour of Lamela and Mason but its good to see a bit of mongrel and fight in this team and we were good for the two late goals and deserved the win. There were some positives from this game, we actually scored from a set play and Harry scores an injury time winner which will put more pressure on Poch to give him a decent run. I also think that Soldado had some good moments and could form a good understanding with Kane. Cheer up you miserable pricks...

  17. Well, you folks have summed up today's game quite neatly. I watched the game with the Cleveland Spurs chapter, and when we scored the first goal, three guys might have swooned at seeing a corner kick that actually made it to the far post but for all of us jumping for joy in a packed bar.

If Kaboul is a skipper, he needs to skip himself right over to the bench and confess to Poch that he's not worthy. If Dier is supposed to be a central defender, then let him play in the middle with Jan, who, himself doesn't always seem too inspiring. Or for certain, Fazio or Stambouli.

As I watch other teams' offenses, so many seem more direct and wide than our approach , which often diddles around until there are eight defenders waiting to dare us to find a way to get through.

Whoever wrote that the defense isn't bad needs to watch some video of previous Spurs and other back lines.

Let's give kudos to Poch at least for going with two strikers, even though one was Adebayor, who, I suspect, might be changing his name to Adebyebye by January if we can pick up some replacement talent. Anybody like the idea of Jose Altidore escaping Sunderland? I'll bet Deandre Yedlin would put in a good word or six for him since they play on the USA team. Oh, and when it comes to shooting, why couldn't Ade have gently chipped the ball? I know he's done it before. And maybe a few strikes from everyone that weren't at ground level to make the goalies' task a little more challenging might be worth a try at practice!

Now it's on to Greece, where we likely will stroll through another bracket match in Europa and make everybody think we can really play well and should be better placed in the Premier based on the Thursday performance. COYS!!!!

Some really good points and the red card was down to their overreaction and stupidity it was all down to heat of the moment. We've seen a few reds this year with cheat players throwing themselves to the ground after the slightest touch but this one was given away, that's their problem and we did not get any favours or rub from the ref. Not sure that Poch would be annoyed to see Harry score the winner but I get your point and there's definitely some poetic justice and fan satisfaction in Harry's goal. It wasn't that special and Harry might not be the best striker but he keeps on scoring goals despite Poch's arrogance and refusal to start him, how long can Poch ignore him ?

Spurs are in trouble. They have a squad of talented and skilful players but don't have a "Team". It's a group of players who pay lip service to teamwork but demonstrate on the field of play that they don't understand what that really means.

Evidence of this can be seen in the results. In the long run it doesn't matter how skilful a squad of players are, team play always trumps skill without teamwork. The Premiership and later stages of cup competitions have teams that understand this and practice it.

If Spurs are to progress they need to build a team ethic, work for each other as a unit to beat opponents. Can this squad of players achieve that mentality? Unfortunately, up until now they have shown that they can't. It looks like a long term problem which will require careful squad replacements or promotions from within the clubs up and coming prospects.

No doubt about it a lucky win but lets not get carried away winning when playing bad is always a plus. Keep Kane on the bench for another couple of weeks, loads of cup games so he will hardly get rusty. No one wants a repeat of what happened with Townsend he was going to be the next best thing last season and look what's happened to him playing well but good enough. Kane is way to young to pin all our hopes on. Rose looks to be getting better with each game he plays, the crosses could be better but isn't that a wingers job I know that seems to be POCH tactics bombing on full backs but come on. Mason looks good but so did Bentaleb .. Lamela looks better coming of the bench at the moment maybe bed him in that way , Soldado looks as if a goal isn't to far away, got into two good positions today still looks more interested than ADE .
