Are you sure? Coach who plays a high line and like players that are quick and can run non stop wanted someone with very little pace, zero composure and no ability to read the game?

preed, all due respect, but I’m glad we have levy running the club and not you cause we’d be f**k*d with that attitude. Gotta keep Porro, Bentancour, Biss, Vic, Sarr, Udogie, Davies, Odobert, BJ plus many others.

BJ is not looking like he was worth 50 mil, could’ve been invested elsewhere. But he’s a solid option. We need a world class 6 and could keep Bissouma for cover if so. We need alternatives to Porro and Destiny who can also challenge for starting spot. Every other top side has plenty of rotation options. Think about pool’s midfield options. They have Bradley and the Greek as backups for TAA and Robertson. We need players to push and cover for Porro and Udogie. Both haven’t been great this year. Porro bless him has been run to the ground. Destiny has had his injury problems and made silly mistakes. Both are young and quality players. Neither are perfect, but both are worth keeping around.

what bugs me about the negative folx on this forum is criticizing quality players who are young and going through rough patches. Sarr, Udogie, Gray, Porro, this is the future mate.

Seriously though after much thought I don’t think that the tactics used by Ange at Celtic can work in the premiership
because his squad was way the strongest and could sustain this against much weaker teams,The premiership is way stronger even at the bottom and no team could sustain this type of intensity without sustaining injuries. Some of our players look done and we are only half way through the season. To play this way would need the strongest squad assembled and with Levy that. Won’t happen.Youcan play attacking football and still be tight at the back see Newcastle and Forest

I’m not so sure based on the use of the word ‘we’ when discussing his signing, especially when Ange specifically calls out Lange and Mackenzie and “when we got down to the real detail he was the best option for us”. Sounds like he was given very few options to me:

"We’ve been working on the centre-back position pretty much since the summer window closed and there's been a whole list of players we worked through methodically," Postecoglou said.

"A lot of that work has been done by the scouting department and Johan [Lange, technical director] came in and [chief scout] Rob Mackenzie and the team started working into further detail.

"They presented it to me probably six weeks ago. From that onwards, Radu was always on the radar as one of the players we thought would be a good option for us. Then it was about getting as much information on him as a player and a person.

We spoke to as many people about him as possible and had him scouted again and I’ve been following him since we highlighted him. In my mind once we got down to the real detail, I thought he was the best option for us.

"Before the window opened we made the decision that Radu would be our number one priority. I like his defensive attributes, his

physical attributes, I there's still a lot of growth in him.

"A lot of improvement in him. He's only 21, only had one year in Serie A, not even a full year and he fits the profile of the kind of players we want here."

Appreciate you being thoughtful about this … an interesting idea at least

I don’t think it true though … our football is not as kamikaze as you think … though you could say the tactics were so with a depleted back line against league leaders Liverpool … quite a few other teams cover more ground than we do

Celtic were also not that much better talent wise than everyone else … I think Ange had a net spend of 10-15 million in the end … he did bring in 20 odd new players though … but all on the cheap

Richy has always been injured for us … VdV has soft tissue issues as well … other injuries are going to come and go … the plain truth is we’ve been very unlucky with this … or we have a bad conditioning/medical department

I think you’re being a little tough on Radu … he’s young and doesn’t have a wealth of experience and has yet to establish himself here

Give him a year or two … he has all the attributes of a classic centre back … though I would agree he seems a little immobile to be playing such a high line … but I think his technique is good enough

If Jose had shown a modicum of Ange’s daring he would have been everyone’s darling here … he is still a charismatic fellow after all these years

But instead he chose to play a low block long ball from the back system every week that bored everyone to tears … especially his own players … who he promptly threw all under his bus … sans Harry … and reversed once or twice

Conte’s story is a different one … everyone was behind him … but his time at Spurs was cursed through no fault of his own … he went off in the end just to get the f*ck out of here … I don’t blame him

Everybody including ex spurs players on the sky sports programs say the same thing that we are Kamicaze and need to adjust at times. The arrogance of not seeing this will eventually cost Ange his job and I am amazed that he is so blinded by his blinkered approach.I know all pundits are not the experts they think they are but they can’t all be wrong as they have played the game at the top level

  13. Angelos Guest

Well there’s a lot of arrogance coming from those pundits who’ve never managed a football team in their life but they’re telling him what tactics he should play … like he just got off the bus … and a few of these top pundits … and I like these guys … are proven hopeless managers

The guy has won titles in every country he’s managed in … he’s won an Asian Cup … he’s qualified for and managed in a World Cup … he’s not some neophyte … he’s a proven good manager with a certain style

I don’t think the tactics against Liverpool were prudent given our injury list … but I also understand why he did so … it’s not naivety … it’s him refusing to relent no matter … which is the instinct he’s trying to ingrain into the players … and God knows the club needs it … the most Spursy thing to do would be to give up now

He has never managed in a league as tough as the premiership..Gerrard won the Scottish league but his record elsewhere is poor so no comparison.Celtic continue to dominate in Scotland with a man who was at leicester who got relegated
