well we did lose the ball just about every time we went long so? I think we should mix it up more, go more direct on occasion—if only because teams know that we’ll play short 99 percent of the time. But also we aren’t a particularly tall team or great in the air, as evidenced by our our terrible offensive set piece record

I have an idea, don’t listen to scouse tv pundits. Was it, or was it not entertainment? What he said was factually correct. He defended FF pretty well given he is the only gk option we have and there are a lot more games before the return of Vicario. FF had a mare, what good would roasting him do other than destroy the tiny shred of dignity/confidence he still has after the mistakes? Generally he has been very good for us recently and we need him again this weekend. Oh and the big fellas instructions have nothing to do with taking too long to kick a ball so not sure how you are blaming him for that.

You missed the point.its not how long he takes it is the fact that he is piss poor with his feet so don’t always play the. Short ball.Liverpool. Will be all over. Him.You can play the long ball ball occaisionally

Lol … well I won’t forget your magnificent handle

  6. Well aren’t you intimating our tactics were poor last night? And aren’t you suggesting we should change the way we play just because we have a backup keeper on the field? We knackered United by the way, and with a squad on life support. Anyone want to talk about new manager bounce?

The wonderful Mou was the most defensive manager in this neck of the woods since the beginning of football. Yet his primal tactics gifted so many points late. The big Aussie beachball is right. Attack them until the end. No prisoners. Figuratively speaking of course.

I am saying don’t always play out from the back .after the first cockup play it long for a while until the keeper regains his composure.Only fools carry on with same way until settled. Our tactics have been poor at passing from the back all season and have caused me trepidations a many. Its not just spurs most clubs seem obsessed with the way to play from the back and most have conceded soft goals. You mention Mourino teams conceded late which was true but we did have Dier at centre back.

But the Viking plays for Bayern Munich now, not QPR. Sometimes a change is as good as a holiday, but I always liked the cut of his jib.

Joe Hart not long ago perfectly summarised what is required to play goalkeeper for the Acropolis. He is quite articulate. Give it a listen. The theory is not as outlandish as you think.

He plays on the bench and you must be the only poster to praise him on here

  10. But you are picking up on simple back passes that were mistakes by the keeper. I’m pretty sure the individuals in our team have the experience to know ‘if in doubt’ however he tried to overplay the first one and the second was like slow motion. Sometimes it happens and as long as we win, it’s ok. He won’t do it again I would guess

Pretty sure after the first one , everyone said he won’t do it again! :)

As I said above. I’m not bothered about performance in a cup game. It’s all about winning and the losing team always goes full on as they don’t care if they lose by loads
Will be a tougher test in a 2 legged against Liverpool. Don’t know why 2 legs and then a single final game. Anyway not as confident for the weekend game as I was for this

I actually liked Dier. I think he should have been a good player to come on and in certain games start. But I always thought his better position was in midfield in front of the centre backs- more where he started initially. It was him that pushed for cb as he thought that was his position

  13. Dier was excellent as a 6 for one season. Then somehow lost all of his mobility and was often terrible. Good servant for the club, but boy was he bad towards the end.
