I was just coming here to post that. Davies is the consummate professional, always gives 100%. I think he is better than people think but has often been understudy to v good defenders. He has been good when playing centre back for wales, he could have pushed for a move to get a guaranteed starting place but never has

Just watched the highlights on MOTD. A few comments

Were we at home? When we scored there was huge sounds, good on the travelling fans!

Werner left Walker for dust (yes he was fresh but that doesn’t happen much)

    brilliant attacking performance

This game is a perfect example of what I have been saying all season, we are very good but it’s a long term project and there will be ups and downs. I mentioned previously on early season losses that if the ball had gone the other way on a few occasions then the results would have been completely different and that the performance wasn’t really that bad ,
Now I think this an example of the opposite- City could have had 2 or 3 before we scored, just one of those go in and the whole game changes. City actually had a lot of good chances , (Halland seemed to get the ball a foot behind him each time).
So, great result but we will still have setbacks and shouldn’t go nuclear when they inevitably happen.

Of course there will be ups and downs ahead … this team is far from the finished article. But it is improving … that’s obvious. Most goals in the league … 2nd best differential.

I’m not sure why you want to keep kicking the can down the road. The manager has already proven he belongs.

I am not kicking the can down the road just saying what a lot of fans have been saying.I do feel that yesterday he changed our shape slightly because of the absence or both centre backs but it seemed to inspire Davies and DragusinThis has been my complaint that he was not prepared to change but I think the penny has dropped and he may surprise me,If you read my posts you know I am a life time spurs fan and would like nothing better than Ange to prove me wrong and as I have said I will admit my mistake but if it goes pear shaped again I bet nobody will do the same

  5. Key part of the win was the adjustment in the defending line height due to the lack of pace between them. That slightly deeper line allowed the FBs to bomb forward with less risk of us getting caught in the counter. I think with the pace and numbers we have going forward, the approach suits us better, irrespective of who the CB pairing are. It was a subtle but positive adjustment to the style Ange stands by and hopefully is there to stay because it makes us was less susceptible to consider on the back foot.
Also, Davies and Dragusin somehow seemed to provide a more solid resistance to crosses in the air, which in turn put less pressure on vicario and his week spot. If anything Romero and VDV currently need to work hard to get their places in the back 4

I have been saying for a long time that this adjustment was needed and then Romero won’t go missing up field and leaving us open to the counter so often.Even so on another day we could have concede 3 early on if Harland had been at his potential bestWe are definitely City’s bogey team as no other team has taken as many point as us over the last 4 years

    Good article …. good stats

I put the inconsistency down to a couple things … one our best players on the whole are pretty good but not great … and as they say form fluctuates. And two, the number of games this year is considerable and our depth is still not exactly there.

Overall, I think the manager and team are doing well for what we’ve got. We could have lost to City on another day … but then we could have easily beaten the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal as well. These things tend to even out over time. Looking forward to the next month of football.

Hate to say it but just watched City blow a 3 goal lead .Defensively they were awful so maybe we should wait till after Fulham before we big ourselves up.Most of thecurrent city team on form would not get in our team what a wonderful game

Can’t believe that Ange has said we won’t look to bring in another keeper.Forster can be good shot stopper but his distribution is awful. He his 36 and could easily get injured andthen we would be down to 2 youngsters and that could really cost us.We should at least sound out Navas who is out of contract as cover for rest of the seasons

Anyone like our odds tonight? what’s the vibe among the Spurs faithful here?

Roma are struggling but have a new coach … the great Ranieri … and I suspect we’ll play a decent but not full strength side

My guess is a win or draw at worst after thumping City

PS. Roma still have some quality players … the dreaded Dybala … who sunk us once … may be playing
