See voiceofreason … I couldn’t have explained it better myself.

It goes without saying that Bill is the legendary coach of the club. Bill also drew or lost more games than he won. You’re always calling for someone’s head after a loss, so the question naturally follows … did you ever yell out: Bill you ****!

I give up trying to have a proper conversation about Ange because he has fooled a lot of people.Lets hope he is not fooled on Wednesday by Pep saying he will play his kids because if as I think he makes 8 changes then we will get bear again. Now is the time to prove me wrong and put this cup before the league because we ain’t winning thay

Have you ever considered the possibility that the team is actually not that good at the moment and the manager is doing as well with the talent at his disposal as just about anyone could … all the while playing in a typically fearless and attractive Spurs way? You know Kane was an awfully big loss for the club … almost irreplaceable. His goals carried the team/papered over a lot of cracks in the past.

You can definitely question the player recruitment … I certainly do. I don’t think it’s been good enough. But while Ange has the final say on that, he doesn’t get to draw up the potential list either. You know as well I do that he can’t ask the club to sign Raheem Sterling for example given his astronomical wages.

I would have thought you of all people would appreciate a gung-ho manager who embodies the virtues of the club’s past, particularly after the boredom of recent years. I’m not sure why you’d think Potter is better … there is talk he may be headed to Scotland himself. And I’m sure Ange would have no problem getting a decent job elsewhere … gawd he may even take over City when Pep moves on since he has worked for their consortium before.

A lot will depend on the future. I’m not sure if Ange has been foolhardy signing all these teenagers and not much else … that part of the equation may be his downfall … but not his style.

I know the team is not that good and why.Transfers of kids with no experience and the reloading of Verner.Who is responsible for the transfers Levy or Ange .I would love to have the truth in this but nobody really knows. If it’s Ange then he has got it wrong and if it’s levy then Ange should be ashamed of letting him .Cant imagine City signing player not agreed by pep.I don’t believe we have the right players to play Anges system so whose fault is that.We do have some good young players for the future but we need experience now.why did we buy gray who is a midfielder and play him at full back

you could replace 'Ange' with any other manager's name we have had in the last 20 years........

    So what is the answer..???

  7. Angelos Guest

From what I’ve heard … no player joins the club without Ange’s final approval. Ange watches a lot of football/knows a lot of players, but the identification of targets is predominantly the remit of the technical director Lange. They sit down and consult occasionally but otherwise the technical director is driving recruitment on his own. So the answer to your question is Ange and Lange lol.

So why does every body blame Levy. Not my favourite man but does take stick for others shortcomings unless of course levy puts a price limit and salary limit

  9. Angelos Guest

I think you answered your own question. Levy is in control of the limited amount of spending. I remember a few years ago I saw some graphic where we spent one of the lowest percentages of income on transfers … certainly the lowest for clubs in the top six. Now the stadium has been built I’m not sure too much has changed in that respect, but I haven’t seen the numbers in a while. I do know our wages lag behind the other wealthy clubs.

Does that mean that Levy says budget is 50 mill for example and if you spend it on one player then no more .The wages have always been second rate so why would anyone sign unless they play for a second rate team where our wages look good.? Vicious circle and we supporters will never really know the answer

DL won't bankrupt the club.....so will not pay the huge wages needed to buy the top players.....

Ange has a good game plan..... but.... as noted plenty of times.... has not managed in any top league...... so really..... hasn't managed any top players.....
all of the players he has asked for are not top players...... but are probably a step ahead of anything he has managed before.
by that I mean watching them in training every day......

so...... Preed you have mentioned it before...... we need any sugar daddy.... as much as it would disgust most fans..... to come in and pay whatever it takes.....
and get top players who together only want Champions League football...... (and there's a name for those ***** in my opinion).....
and get a top manager who has managed top teams..... to come in and get the best out of the best.....

Or someone tells the owner to put his hand in his pocket.....

    will it happen..... No......
will we be carry on as we are and be somewhere between 4th and 8th...... Yes

Our only hope is that Ange can get everyone fit...... keep them fit..... find a way that works...... get consistency..... and win games....

Yes there is a budget every year I’m sure … and I imagine we spend under it most often too. Do you remember that dreadful summer when we didn’t even buy a single player?

We seem to have this business model where we only purchase players who have apparent resale value … yet with the very rare exception we never make money off of anyone. Only a very select few leave Spurs to go onto bigger and better things … most end up in the Championship. So we never get ahead.

  13. Angelos Guest

Yes as you mentioned the other day … Levy is going nowhere … he gets paid far too well at Spurs.

He often talks about his desperation to win something, but he never does what’s required when the opportunity is there. I suspect he does not know how to.

Even now … we have some good players. But ask yourself, who really excites you out of the current lot? I like the centre backs … but they’re centre backs … so there is no one really.

Even just a couple of real quality players would make a massive difference to this side … a Saka or a Silva would be sublime. Instead, we load up on teenagers while Brennan Johnson starts every week. It makes it very difficult to contend for anything.

The funny thing I checked total wage bills of premiership teams and only City Chelsea Liverpool arsenal and united pay more than us Villa about the same the rest less than us so maybe that argument is not as valid as we think.Agree the champion do come usually come from that 5

  15. Angelos Guest

Yes that has always been the case … but the teams you mention are all our rivals when it comes to achieving anything … so it is a major handicap

I will say the fact that Villa are spending the same now is a major indictment on us … but I suppose Levy could argue that we don’t have anyone worth paying over 200K per week lol

  16. Guesty Guest

I'd be interested in what the actual figures are......
but on wages we couldn't compete with the top4..... and would be equal 6th

Despite people on here thinking that I am all negative I think we have a great chance to beat City tonight .City will play a weakened team and as long as Ange does not get clever and think our squad players can beat city squad players we could go through. If he makes the usual 8 changes then we will get beat and the support will diminish very quickly. Please play our best eleven no shame in that because City’s reserves won 5-0 in Europe last week

I think he will put in a lot of second string players unfortunately.
Also it will be a bit of a case of damned if you do damned if you don’t
If he puts a second team in and we lose, then he didn’t take it seriously. If we put a first team in and lose or only scrape through, then it will be “ we can’t even beat city second team” And if the first team win easy, it will be “well it was only a second team they were playing”
Best scenario-our second team beats their second team
