Well, well, well, what a surprise. Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy told us that we would be housed in our new stadium by the 2017 season. I told you on this very site that anyone who believed that wanted their heads read. The reason I said that at the time was due to the fact that the timescale was unrealistic, and businesses in the area had yet to agree to being re located.
Spurs then secured the building rights they needed and we were led to believe that it was all going ahead.
Today, it has been revealed that Tottenham Hotspur will likely have to play away from the Lane for at least one season in 2017, as plans are on hold as two businesses still refuse to be re located.

    Blind business sense

It didn't take rocket science to know that this stadium has been a dangling carrot for years now and we are still as far as away as ever from playing in it. Yes, we have a state of the art training facility. Yet we are still waiting to get the final go ahead for the new stadium. What a surprise. Daniel levy puts out statements and certain quarters believe what he says. Why?

    Revenue down....oh dear

So, it seems highly likely that Spurs will play a lot of away games in just three years from now, but what are the options. Wembley makes sense logistically, but the FA are not keen on the idea, so that leaves the Olympic stadium, which would be rather ironic and the Hammers would probably cry laughing at us having to ask if we can play at their house.
The Emirates has been mentioned, but come on, let's be serious!
The BBC has also suggested that a temporary move to MK Dons stadium is a possibility. Well how would we all feel about commuting to Milton Keynes?
This whole stadium thing is an absolute debacle and yet again ENIC are showing us to be a laughing stock. A complete laughing stock. Whatever happens, we are potentially looking at reduced revenue which could impact on transfers in the future.
Reduced attendances and no doubt an effect on atmosphere are all things that could negatively impact the team.

    Broken promises

I promised myself that I would stay away from negativity and Levy this season as much as possible, but his whole handling of the stadium issue has frankly proved further that he is not fit to run this football club.
He has not just found out about the two businesses in question, and his statement about the new stadium at the end of last season was, as I and many others said, simply a smokescreen for his complete and utter inability to run Tottenham Hotspur as a Football Club.

I await the many reasons that Levy is great about to come at me, but enough is enough.

So weve stopped spending completely to fund this Stadium, in the meantime this is moving further and further away.
We are going backwards under this laughable 'leadership' and getting rinsed at the same time.
Poor flawed transfer policies, managerial merry go round, failure to deliver trophies, failure to deliver a stadium, Levy Out!

Ah well I suppose I wouldn't have liked having a season ticket anyway!!! Not surprised by today's statement in the slightest! Why would anything my beloved spurs do be straightforward!! Tottenham till I die

Nothing's ever straightforward with us, but who do these businesses think they are, and have we done everything possible to get the businesses to agree a move or are we haggling too much?

i didn't expect we would have to move into a temporary stadium while the stadium was being built?

Agreed...Thanks Levy but really is time for you/ENIC to move on.

Oh I will be taking up there kind offer of a sabbatical - will enjoy getting some real value from my £1000 that year!

My biggest gripe with this latest set back is the longer it takes to build this stadium the longer we are at the mercy of Levy & Enic and the choke hold they have on the club.
This whole stadium issue- of course the bigger crowd/added income generated would be in the clubs interest but people who think it is the answer to success think again, success is achieved by hunger from the board who understand that its results on the pitch that matter and they do what it takes to achieve it but first and foremost its results/cups/titles etc.
I will back this up with the fact that Newcastle and Sunderland have the 3rd 4th largest stadiums in the country and have 2 major honours between them since 1955, Villa have the 6th largest Sheffield wednesday 9th etc the stadium means nothing if the owners dont give the team what it needs.
Enic and Levy in particular have fumbled their way through their tenure with us and have shown the minute we looked like we were going forward they were out of their depth and have since done their utmost to dismantle the progress made.
It is farcical to say the least watching the never ending clangers, the 'brinkmanship', the bargains, the partnerships, the failed bids, stratford, private investigators, sackings, sherwood, dof, no dof, pointless signings, sainsburys, purchase orders, scrapped plans, re visited plans etc.
We finished lower and further away from the top 4 than when Jol was in charge, 1 league cup is the return on this sell out mob and we are going backwards.
If others are getting stronger and we arent and the excuse is the stadium then Levy & Enic are failing us on both fronts.
The sooner these parasites move on the better!

Sorry but I'll bet none if you either grew up or live in Tottenham. I lived my first 20 years on Park Lane. Then after 30 years away returned to look after my dad. I like many of you bleed Spurs, but, as much as I hate the place I bleed Tottenham. Yes Archway Steel are a pain but hey ya man is looking after number one. I moved to Melbourne 30 years ago and travel over 6-8 times per season. My kids are Spurs, hell even my missus has given up Aussie Rules to follow us. I'm not special in anyway ...theres thousands like me around the world. BUT ! If we move to the shite down the road then **** if, I'm not coming over. Milton Keynes are we that small ? Wembley is West London..know more about Samoa than that dive ! It's Stratford ( one stop from Tottenham Hale) or nothing for me. Someone has to fill the stadium... They won't

You are correct in everything you say mate. We hear about levy wanting the best for the club but the point is that he wants the best for ENIC first, the plc second and the football club is very much last. Under ENIC we will never be a consistent top four team. Moving for a season isn't the biggest issue, the issue is that levy puts out statements time and time again and then nothing happens.

Wow! What a bunch of moaning t****rs on here. Simple fact is Archway Metals are refusing to move and appealing against the CPO. This is not Levys fault is it? Not at all!

The fact us moaning toddlers are talking about is the fact Archway have been opposing the development for Seven years!!! If levy can't sort it out in seven years, then sorry but that is simply not good enough. At all. End of.

Stick around long enough, and you'll get use to it, mate. Some people will have you believe that Levy is responsible for EVERYTHING that is wrong with the world.

The London riots, JLS breaking up, Cheryl Coles weight-loss - all the fault of our very own Mr Daniel Levy according to some. But hey, toddlers are going to be toddlers, right!

Put simply, the are those that will find ANY excuse, no matter how ridiculous or implausible, to point the finger at The Chairman, who has been HUGELY instrumental in restoring the clubs reputation, both domestically, and abroad.

So when a opportunity like this arises for them to sink their teeth in, it is only to be expected that you will see a few mindless vultures circling the remains with gleeful gusto.

People had their knickers in a twist when they thought they Spurs might have to leave Tottenham in order to build the sort of new stadium we all desire...And now (some) people are moaning that because in order to STAY IN TOTTENHAM plans for the stadium have had to be delayed.

Like I always say ' some' people will NEVER be happy!

Sounds to me like the people at Archway are probably demanding huge sums of compensation in order to move which, to be fair, they are perfectly entitled to do. But I haven't half got a good mind to go down there with a sledge-hammer and get the construction process under-way myself. ;)

The steel company has the right to appeal the CPO, this isn't necessarily Levy's or anyone's fault and at this stage I doubt very much that Archways want to, or are actually prepared to go through with these proceedings. Its obvious that it is in the best interest of both parties that this is settled out of court and hopefully quickly, as I understand it the dispute, or part of it is about them being given a suitable location/premises for their business. If I was being cynical id say the only reason that the development would be allowed to be delayed is if that's what ENIC wanted to allow them more time to raise funds.

Josif wants 25million. Levy could have paid him that and would be a hero by now on this forum. is that the leadership needed? I kind of doubt it. I am sure they made all calculations and would keep the pay-off option in the back pocket.

I also grew up in Tottenham around the seven sisters and like others I get back for the odd game when I can. I love the lane, always have, and so, as someone born and bred in Tottenham im thrilled that the new stadium is being built on the existing (sacred) grounds. However, and lets be honest here, the grounds are archaic and in an area that is one of the shittiest in London, it would have been easier to have redeveloped the existing grounds and added another 8-10 thousand seats, or move the club completely to west London or somewhere like that. I think its fantastic that we are getting a world class stadium as well as keeping the clubs history where it belongs, in Tottenham and of course its much more than a new stadium, its also about redevelopment of the area and local infrastructure, jobs, growth and investment in an area that has been rotting for years, ive heard it being said that Tottenham was the only part of London that actually looked better after the riots than before. I know its all business with ENIC but I don't see anyone else including any of the local councils investing such money or creating jobs in the local area.

He wont get it and the club is not obliged to pay anything over the market value for the property/business, if he goes down that road he may find himself well out of pocket. If he's smart he will be looking to settle this one out of court quickly.

Just to add a little fuel to the fire the ever reliable Darren Lewis has come out with saying that Joe wants to sell Spurs for 1 bln. What next. Any chance of some football soon ?
