This is becoming the weirdest season .A first half of being totally inept and then a second half of so much more and it’s becoming a habit.People have not mentioned that with 10 mins to go an ex arsenal man missed the easiest chance to win it for Marseille and we would not be celebrating our get out of jail.I know we hit the bar unluckily before this but Marseille should really have been more than 1up at half time..With the injuries building up we will be fielding a weak team against Liverpool

I’m worried we will get a big hiding from Liverpool, they are playing like us, although instead of bad half good half, they are doing bad game good game. Bizarrely we need the World Cup to come so that hopefully after we will have a stronger squad when the season kicks off again. Sonny looked out of it

There will be no hiding because they simply aren’t good enough anymore

But can they beat us? Sure… they beat City

But really this is as good a time as any for us to sink the boot in

Fractured eye socket for Son! 3 of our main 4 attackers out injured. Worrying few games coming up. I hope we rest 6 or 7 players in the carabao cup including Harry, not bothered about that cup, top 4 is more important imo.

Yes it would but if our season finished with 6th place and carabao cup. I’d prefer 4th place
Although FA cup and 6th I’d probably take.

Sport is about winning trophies not finishing 4th and pretending it's some massive achievement.

    4th is a business objective

Don’t know what to say about today.Without Diers usual cockup we might have got a result. When will we not have a nightmare first half.I know we were without a second striker but That does not excuse the defence. In the second half we were far the better team and deserved at least an equaliser.Week after week there is an error that that costs us a goal and leaves us chasing the game. Why when we had so much of the ball in the second half did we have the useless Emmerson crossing to no one.I really don’t want him in the team.Good points Bettancour and I thought Bissouma is starting to look the part.By the way I don’t usually criticise refs but today he was so weak

Until Dier is permanently replaced we will always face an uphill battle. Full of mistakes and never a CB. When you add Emerson with him, it’s like starting any game with at least 1 goal handicap.

It was a really good second half performance with some dreadful decisions from both the referee and VAR which should have given 2 x penalties (if you base the decisions on consistency of the rules).

Could do with the World Cup break as also need something to be done about Arsenal. I hate to say it but they look decent.

On a change of subject what chance England in World Cup with Dier at centre half???? Although perhaps Emmerson will play for Brazil to even it up

I only saw the second half. Decided to watch only the half that we win!
I agree with the above Bissouma looked good. Royal looked absolutely shite as normal
As soon as Royal went off Doughtwry was involved in the goal. Kulu looking good
Second half we were a good team. Good to watch, going forwards at all chances. If we can be that team all game we will be sorted!

A very bad loss… not too much else to be said

No luck… weak referee… Dier needs to be shot out of a cannon

Tired of Liverpool’s never ending good fortune against us

    Predictable shite again.

Why hasn't Conte coached Dier or Davies to be world class yet......

Liverpools 1st away win, coming off 2 consecutive league losses and Dr Tottenham helped them on their way.

Until there's a mass clear out of these mentally weak and sub standard footballers it's ground hog day at Spurs.

Tottenham v Milan? there is some style in that… a winnable draw as well.

Before then we need a frickin’ break. This squad simply doesn’t have the depth to compete consistently every 3 days particularly with a number of key injuries.

Further and it hasn’t been mentioned here but the recent death in the family has had an obvious impact on the club… our form has plummeted ever since. We need to put some time between the present and that tragic event.

Never thought I’d ever back this ever so corrupt ridiculous mid season World Cup but it’s arrived at a very good time for us.

And as a Spurs fan I’m happy to honestly declare that no Dier doesn’t deserve to play for England anymore… he’s been utterly atrocious this past month.

Very tired of his Championship level buffoonery every time a big game comes up for the club. At almost 29 the jury is finally in… he certainly has almost all the tools but he will never have the mentality to be a great player.

Dier plays a part in most goals we concede, it’s amazing that some think he is any good.

He is either out of position, making a mistake, not covering other players, holding his hands behind his back and turning away from the ball, not closing or not challenging. All in all, everything that a decent CB should do, he doesn’t do it.

We can’t blame him because he is never a CB in a 100 years of training but neither is he a CM (especially top level).

if you watch back through our games, for example, Fulham, in lost games we concede a goal because he hasn’t defended well.

Lets hope we can pick up De Vrij and Skrinar from Inter for Conte in January. That would sort us out for not a lot of money.

Nice to see people finally waking up to the absolute liability Eric Dier is, he's 29 years old hel never be good enough never has been never will be

All in all, Conte has us defending collectively really well but Dier and Emerson mean that there will always be a risk of space being surrendered or a mistake being made. They need to be sold asap to provide some solidity for the back line and to help Romero and Lenglet who are the only two from what amounts to five at the back who can actually defend
