I wouldn't say JM is/was a punt ball type of manager through his career.
I think he looked at our midfield and decided the best option was to let 9 players defend and play over the top for Kane & Son.

Conte has decided to get rid of sone of the suspects and bring in a couple. Will they really change things.... I'm not yet convinced.

You only gave to look at the whole squad and decide who would get into a top4 side??
    not many.

so then who in the squad is going to give a blood & guts 'Graham Roberts' type performance?
    not many

Too many players expect others to do it for them.....and then no-one does it

At full strength? Absolutely... that was far from the case yesterday

    Excellent synopsis

Dier has been very good as the centre of our back 3... we need him to return swiftly

Lloris is one of the world's top keepers... and has consistently been excellent for some time... shame he chose yesterday to suddenly drop his level... but all keepers do at some point... it's inevitable

Winks... unfortunately... is rubbish... for every half decent thing he might do eg. the half volley strike that deflected off the post yesterday... he's guaranteed to hopelessly spray the ball away in very promising positions... or cough it up as the last man in midfield to give the opposition an easy chance on goal

He's 3rd string... or 4th in the depth chart if you like... 3 starts in a week for him is bad news for Spurs

What is full strength because I don’t know.Who would have thought the most maligned defender in the club Dier is now vital to us.Apart from Skipp andHojbjerg who else would you add to the team against Wolves maybe Reggie. One thing that must change is Winks must not be anywhere the team. This is the player that Pochetino said was the complete midfielder and so tenacious in winning the ball back .What went wrong.Where does Rodon stand because 3 managers have ignored him .This is a Welsh international although Sanchez is also an international so I suppose that means not a lot

It’s very odd with Rodon..3 managers now have not wanted to play him so there must be something in it.

With our clear deficiencies, I don’t understand why we won’t give CCV a go rather than loaning him out. He is clearly doing a decent job at Celtic and can’t be worse than Sanchez in that spot

Only until the end of this season by the way…then let him leave and sign 2 x decent CB’s

  7. What defender hasn’t been much maligned here? I remember Walker getting regularly panned by the Spurs ‘faithful’ when he was clearly the best right back in the league… how many trophies has he won?

Like Walker… Dier is prone to the odd brain snap… he’s not the second coming of Fabio Cannavaro… but he is good… and technically superior to both Sánchez and Davies… an essential trait for our style of play

Conte has thrown the top 4 towel in, and gone into expectation management mode.

Like all our managers do when the reality dawns how piss poor the playing personnel are.

Only difference is hel not get pelters for it.

I'm very sceptical about this whole appointment, you don't bring Mourinho or Conte in for a 5 year project especially with the latter being in a 18 month deal.
It's now or never coz to believe Conte will let his stock fall over a sustained period of time for a project that won't deliver is delusional to say the least.

Interesting comments by Conte today about the squad being made weaker in January .Surely this is a a strong criticism of Levy and Paratici and is laying the base for the next window. He also says that he now accepts that Spurs want to buy young talent and not proven experienced players.Surely Levy should be worried by this because no way is Conte a long term builder but wants the best now.I can see a mess coming that will surely finish up with Conte walking and Levy will be a bigger laughing stock than he already is

As I said summertime when Conte was mentioned it would go similar to Mourinhos time at the club.
They're managers that are used to working with professionals and clubs that have standards.
Once the Kevin & Perry squad revert to type which they are and will, the running will stop the sulking will start n thickos will blame the manager.
That'll be Poch Mourinho Nuno & Conte that can't get a tune out of the shambolic squads at their disposal.
Again as I pointed out those getting excited about a favourable run v cannon fodder were jumping the gun, so desperate to be proven right we've all had to pretend Davies Winks & Dier etc were now Class until they meet decent opposition n drop a customary 4/10.

The most tragic thing that there's still fans who believe there's a manager out there that can work with this bunch and get them challenging etc and they're not even on drugs

Until a sugar daddy appears and takes over we will never compete.
Liverpool, Chelsea & ManU will spend spend spend.
    We don't....

We will not spend the purchase price or the wages to attract the very best.....so how we got Conte (or JM before him) is a mystery to me.
What did DL say to convince them to come??..... and surely Conte was aware of the constraints JM was underbefire him. Did he think he would change DLs approach??

DL always wants to buy players he can sell on at a profit. Conte won't stand for it....as he wants the top quality now.

I'd be interested in who agreed the 2 new signings.... and also those that left....
For me... Conte wanted bigger names and more of them.

    same old same old

Can’t believe that an average ex player like Jamie Ohara who has critisised the players quite correctly for their performances has now criticised Conte for telling the truth about our transfer dealings

    I believe O'Hara also said......talking about Conte.....
“He’s always had great players and he’s always had clubs who want to win the league and now he’s at a club that doesn’t want to win the league.”
    ......I wouldn't argue with that

O'Hara all last season like Jamie Wetnap constantly banged the drum how good this squad is.
And now like many has completely changed his tune.
The bloke gets his opinions scripted for him and its to suit whatever direction the lazy narrative is blowing.

Credit where it’s due after all the criticism today was a revelation.Fight and spirit even though we had a small time with the ball and Kane was obviously showing what city missed. His best game for over a year.Lloris bad error for goal but wonder save in second half.Still a lot of improvement needed with passing but it’s a start .Kuluveski not as mobile as Moura but does look like a proper footballer in thought.Nice to have a weekend with smiles

Kane & Kulu were immense today.
Lloris giving simple goals away again, what was Romero doing?
What a bonkers game and result, 6 points from City this season madness.

I thought Romero was immense today as well but going to ground means you lose control of your arms .But credit to come back instead of the old collapse days

Why has this site gone so quiet after such a good performance on Saturday. It seems only myself and Felon who have been the teams biggest critics have given them credit
