City Chelsea Liverpool Utd Leicester West Ham Everton all have better teams/squads than us.
We have Lloris (liability) Son (form player) Kane (wants to leave) then the rest of our team wouldn't get a game at any of those clubs above.
People massively over rate the players we have completely oblivious to the fact there are so many players at smaller clubs who are far better and consistent.

Look at the players they have/had/acquired.
They both manage clubs that demand excellence and are backed by ambitious boards, if you don't cut the mustard n perform to the standards you're out and everyone knows it, keeps players motivated n on their toes, both Pep & Klopp have completely changed their respective playing squads they inherited.
Poch ran his side into the ground, Mourinho was given crumbs to patch it up with and now Nuno has been given the dregs of both regimes.
Our squad is so stale and poor that from time to time Ben Davies who's been at the club 8 years is actually made captain for some games.
If you think Pep or Klopp would take this mess on and not demand/expect a total squad overhaul n just coach them better you're seriously deluded.

WHU was behind the ball and were playing counterattack because Spurs had the ball. Guess which team runs more? The team with the ball runs less, the team behind the ball runs faster as they counter.
When Spurs play counter attack, you want them to have the ball. When they have the ball, you blame them for not outrunning the opposition. Bottom line: you just want the better result. You bring all those arguments out of frustration that comes after a loss and Spurs lost 2 in the row.
I told you earlier that win over WHU would make everyone to forget about Vitesse. It didn't happen. Hammers are the better club at the moment. Look at last season final table, if you forgot.
We will lose to MU as well. They are better than us. We can go after Newcastle and any bottom 10 team, but not higher, sorry. We should look for and be happy with a draw when we play upper 10. By that logic we should win Wednesday, but it will be a nailbiter nonetheless.

Our main problem is simple... : Kane ! All other players are most concerned but Kane is influent and his ghostly presence cost us a lot ! Even Son is apparently tired by Kane now.

You are correct Klopp and Pep would demand a complete overhaul so why does no one else demand this. One question Felon bad squad or not are you pleased that we have Nuno and if by some magic we obtained a few good players in the window would you trust him to manage us.A man who thought we were the better team and controlled the game against West Ham.To get better we need a strong personality who is not controlled by Levy and does not shy away from discarding the wage stealers and at the moment that includes Kane

Spurporter are you serious .The stats show we run less than all the clubs and you put this down to our style of play because we play counter attack.Rubbish it’s because we have lazy ba****** who don’t move into space .Pass and move simple watch City

I am still not convinced about the squad quality being the only problem. I think that our squad not suiting our coach and our signings not suiting our squad are the issue.
IMO Romero, Regy, PEH, Ndombele, Son and Kane could all individually get into the top teams as they each individually could solve a problem that the top sides have.
Lloris, Rodon, Emerson, Skipp, Bergwijn and Moura would individually make it into WHU, Leicester or Everton.
on who we are talking about).
Lloris, Rodon, Emerson, Skipp, Bergwijn and Moura would individually make it into WHU, Leicester or Everton.
Problem is that put them all together and they don’t work.
We don’t seem to have a plan when making signings and we don’t have a plan when playing them together. Why did we sign Emerson, Gil and Rodon? Who thought that Ndombele was a good fit for pressing/counter attacking? Why was keeping Kane so important when we have a succession of coaches known for football that doesn’t suit his game?
I am starting to agree with you that Enic and Levy are the primary cause with Paratici not seeming to help. Add to that Nuno looking to be a mistake and a squad full of players that look like they were signed thanks to their FIFA rating, we are in a bit of a pickle.
First job in January should be sell Kane for over £100m if possible, sell Alli for anything we can get and sell Dier.
Sign Johnston to replace Lloris and lose Gollini who is cack in the summer. If we could try to focus on signing players with PL experience that fit a playing style it would be good. If it’s counter attack, so be it, don’t try to sign slow passing ball players then ask them to adapt to become pressing and counter attacking players.
This is going to be another very depressing season.

This is a frustrated supporter talking. Firstly, plan do not win you anything; secondly every club there is has a plan. The thing is that there are clubs who get a better "planners" known as mangers ( boards and chairmen do not plan anything, they simply cannot). A better manager could get you a better performers for the game he plays.
No one yet has any idea what Nuno's plan is. He will, obviously, rid of players that do not suit him. That is the problem with changing managers.
If you want to change managers frequently you will end up with players that are marginal to the current preferred style of play. If those players are quality footballers they can be sold. Look at best coaches, look at Pep, Klopp, even Mourinho. And you will see many players playing somewhere else. It is normal.
The question is can THFC get a Tier 1 manager? No. Top managers work for top football clubs. Spurs are not yet such a club. We could get a formerly top managers, such as Mou. Or we can fire a true top manager in Pochettino. Tier 2 is what Spurs can only get, like it or not. So, we have.
My point is we got Nuno. He is one of the best from Tier 2. We should stop to criticize the man after 3 months into new season. It would have been a different story should that be his 3rd season. But as it is we must give him a break, accept the losses and hope for better days ahead.

I hear you, although based on what I’ve seen so far, tend to disagree about Nuno.

The plan I’m referring to is Poch played high press fast tempo, JM played deep counter and Nuno seems similar.

Why did Levy sign Ndombele for Poch when he has no energy or desire?

Why did Levy sign Rodon when he has no real pace or quality on the ball for the long ball JM likes to utilise?

Why did Paratici sign Gil when he doesn’t suit the system employed by Nuno?

Why did Levy fight so hard to keep Kane, who clearly doesn’t want to stay and clearly doesn’t suit Nunos game plan?

If we are to have a manager and stick with them, the players we sign have to suit the formation and ask of the manager or they will never succeed.

Nuno does not play the type of football that suits the players at his disposal and ultimately this reflects in our performances and results. This means either Nuno has to change something or the players need to change. We have a squad, that on paper, is a top 6-8 but in practice is top 10 at best. By making adjustments to suit the players, we have proved we can be decent but then we revert back to playing Kane and we look shite again.

My plan would be, sell Kane, lose the players with terrible attitude (Alli and Ndombele) and replace the defenders who can’t actually defend (Dier and Davies).

How do we have players like Sess who would make it into a lot of sides yet we don’t play him in his preferred position and then just drop him out of the squad. No plan….

For Preed & THFC my point is unless you give a manager proper tools and in our case at least a fit for purpose squad how can you demand champagne football from the manager?
We have 4 of the worst full backs in the league, 2 of the worst CBs in the league, 2 of the worst CMs in the league, attacking mids/forwards who haven't hit double figures in goals or assists if you add up their last 2 seasons plus this.
The guy is working through not only this lack of quality, but an attitude/commitment problem that has been going on for about 3 years.
If I gave you a boat with 15 holes in it and no means of repair would it make you a shite captain if it sank?
The guy is working with 15 players not good enough to be there or anywhere near what we need to achieve what people want.

You still have not answered the question Felon despite your disgust with the squad are you happy with our choice of manager

  12. THFC Guest

We have the nucleus of a decent side but the players don’t really fit the style. Lloris, Romero, Tanganga, Emerson, Regy, PeH, Skipp, Sess, Son, Kane, Bergwijn all could/should be decent players. Moura, Ndombele, Rodon and Gil all have some ability or potential.

Trouble is, none of them seem to be able to play in the formation/style that is being asked of them. It was the same for JM and the same to some extent for Poch.

I am not saying the squad is amazing but it’s better than the performances show and better than the squads at WHU, Everton and some of the other names that have been mentioned.

Levy and Paratici need to shift the trouble makers and sign players that actually work with whichever formation or game plan that the managers they choose as the ones we have don’t

We do seem to go round in circles day after day without any real resolution. There are those who think the squad is totally useless and those who think it is better than it’s performances..I believe it’s a poor squad and needs pruning and replacing urgently but there are players in the squad who have ability but don’t show it often enough.I hoped Mourino would be strong enough to sort out the mess but he has now diminished and is still struggling in Italy,Whether our director of football will be able to recruit players good enough to help us back to a top four side is still open to discussion and has not got off to a particularly promising start.Unfortunately he seems to be in close with the parasite Mendez hence the Portuguese connection. Our need apart from somebody buying out Enic is to get a manager with some strong principles and the strength to tell Levy a few home truths.Unfortunately Levy is too cute to allow that and so we go on as a second rate club and revert back to the the days when Fergusons team talk was its only Tottenham. It is time for the fans to show Levy that we won’t put up with it but I am afraid that our supporters are weak compared to some of the bigger clubs and continue to turn up to watch and pay the outrageous prices.Levy will only worry if the money stops coming in but what will it take to get our misguided off their bums and really protest where it hurts inLevys pocket. Finally I do feel forNuno to be caught up in this but he really is out of his depth and is levy’s token for the monumental ****ups.Would any of the top 3 managers allow Kane to put in performances like he had so far this seasonI think not.He would be playing with the under23s.

I'm neither happy or unhappy, I don't look at thinks from a feelings perspective I look at things objectively.
Nuno was about 7th choice for a reason because the likes of Conte & Ten Hagg didn't fancy it, it became desperate time.
For people to slate him for that n coz he has a shite squad to work with is ridiculous.
We can all say we would rather have Pep, it's like me saying instead of my missus I'd like Kelly Brook but guess what unless my bank balance and fortunes changes considerably wanting and getting are 2 completely different things.

I'm sorry but just mentioning players names doesn't make them good players when compared with their counterparts at other sides.
Just saying Reguillion who isn't as good as Alonso Chilwell Shaw Robertson Zinchenko Cresswell Digne for instance n this can be cross referenced against all the teams I've mentioned player for player.
So where some of our players are talked up like PEH coz he's better than Winks, Reg coz he's better than Davies it doesn't mean they're top players who should be getting us top 4 top 6.
People need to look at things as a whole n take the emotion out.

Sorry felon but l blaming the squad for Nunos lack of a system that looks like it wants to score goals is not right .Bad squad yes but do me a favour he makes subs when the game is lost as on Sunday when he should have changed earlier to look for a win.Have you seen a less animated manager on the touch line and his post match comments are laughable.Even if our so called director of football is to buy good players do you think they will look who is the manager and say we can’t wait to be coached by him.I know you think I am wrong to criticise Nuno but I do remember you crucifying Poch in the past for the same aimless comments and lack of solutions. I guess we will agree to disagree until the squad is completely changed and that could take 5 years or more

Levy doesn't evaluate players club signs. His job (now relinquished to Paratici) was to negotiate acquisitions and sales of players. Paratici is supposedly able to do both the evaluation, and the negotiations. Levy now only is overlooking overall spending and makes another financial decision that are not personnel focused any longer.

Not all coaches could be managers. What I mean, most unable to do scouting or do not have time for that. Pochettino was an example of such. That is why it is critical to have a GREAT scout. Hitchens is poor and so is our current squad. Paul Mitchell was the one who made Pochettino a great success at Spurs. Once he left Poch went down, although being a good coach he was able to keep the team afloat for a while. Paul Mitchell after that made Hagelsmann a success at Leipzig. What I am saying it is not only money spent that makes club a success. It is those spending it who truly make a difference. City, Chelsea and Pool have excellent football scouts. Plus, they offer a good salary to players. Spurs have nothing like that. We are the club with great history and that is where it all ends at the moment.

Is it Levy's or ENIC's fault? Not really. Spurs do not have a financial might to attract the best staff and best players. We missed that train some 30 years ago, when football became a huge money-making business instead of glory making hobby. Levy did a lot of positive things to improve financial wellbeing of Spurs, which is critically important, but yet not at all sufficient to elevate the club to the top of the league. No matter how many mistakes he made, the overall trajectory of the THFC is correct, it moves up. Sure, we had success under Poch, but in reality we overachieved, hitting well above our midtable belt.

Paratici hiring is a result of club understanding that what I said above is correct. He is a true professional Spurs never had before, no comparison to Baldini. Let's see what he does. The important part is that such position is here to stay. There will be another man should Paratici gets fired.

Paratici should know Nuno style (we do not, cause for now Nuno naturally adapts to the squad he was given) and buy him the players he needs, whilst selling those he doesn’t. For that reason, Levy let Paratici to choose the head coach. IMO, Nuno is a so called bridge hiring for a few years that will permit to right the ship.

  18. You forgot Wolves this year?

But instead apparently West Ham and Everton now have superior players to Spurs?

You never were the best judge of talent

No manager in his right mind would take either of those squads over ours

    City… Chelsea… Liverpool... United

    Everyone else is secondary

Paratici might scout the players but you can be sure Levy holds the purse strings.we do know Nunos way of playing he was at wolves .Do you watch other teams Spurporter.

  20. Nuno has always been a trash defensive counter specialist… you can check the numbers at any club he’s been at or listen to the man himself… he’s incapable of implementing a philosophy of attacking football

Not sure which is more laughable… Spurs sacking Jose to replace him with a B grade version of himself or our disingenuous chairman declaring that hiring Nuno was a return to the club’s DNA

Time to rip down the Blanchflower quotes from Tottenham Stadium and replace them with some Nuno pearlers

    Such as…

‘All coaches say, we want to
control the game, we want the ball, blah, blah, blah’

    Or how about…

‘I think, but maybe I am the only one, that the defensive process can take care of the game.’

There are quite a few more but no need to go on… a joke of a hire by a joke of a board

    RIP Tottenham Hotspur
