Transfer talk & rumours

  1. How *****ic can Spurs fans be?

Pochettino got the PSG job because people were so very impressed at how well he shovelled **** uphill at Tottenham for a number of years

You don’t need a degree to figure that out

You really don’t get it do you Jose .Not turning up for training is disrespect in anyone’s book.Nobody is sticking up for Levy and yes Kane is entitled to want a move but do it correctly didn’t see Grealish throwing his toys out .What do you think we should accept for Kane when Lukaku has cost 97million and grealish100 millionYour comments obviously directed to me about Pochetino will have to be something we disagree on because he had a good squad to begin with but let it deteriate with Levy’s help. When he started we had best defence in premiership a good midfield with Ericson and we had Kane and son and Ali in red hot form.He allowed it to become**** as you so eloquently say because he couldn’t stand up to Levy when needed.and you don’t need a degree to know that.I remember him saying we did not need to stenghthen when we missed 2 transfer deadline days when every fan knew we did need to strengthen to keep up with the big boys

  3. I’m not interested in your revisionist history… it’s not remotely accurate

But I do find it very amusing that Pochettino is managing the new Galacticos these days while Spurs have effing Nuno Santo instead

Now that must really stick in the craw

There is some truth in what you say about Kane although I wouldn’t say it’s disrespectful to the club (given how stubborn the club can be) but more just disappointing that it’s got to this point. I said last season that given his age and injury record, it’s probably not a bad time for all to sell as long as we get what is a fair market price. With Grealish valued at £100m then we should be adding another £50m to it.

Not sure why you mentioned Poch but unfortunately you are not giving the man the credit that he is due. He did not have the best defence in the PL, he had the best CB pairing. That CB pairing were shielded by Dier and Sissoko (which is definitely not the best holding MF). We had multiple years challenging the top 4 and a CL final, all while spending no where near most other top sides in terms of wages and transfer fees. He got the job at PSG because he deserved it and the reason any manager would take that job has been proved this season by signing the best GK, world class CB and Messi. Parking Poch because he is long gone…Nuno seems to have a very similar way with players and may not be as bad as some think. If we can shift Kane and a few more that Paratici has identified such as Dier and Sissoko, the signs are promising.
One more thing, we have shifted and signed several and still have time left in the window….the window is there to be used until the last minute and negotiations take time. I do t think it’s fair to moan about the transfer work that is taking place this season as we still have time and the more desperate City become, the more they will pay. Add to that whatever money they give us can’t then be used against us for signings, it’s probably the right strategy (which is why Paratici is widely regarded as the best in the world at what he does).

Sorry Jose it does not stick I my craw as you so put it.Please revisit at end of season when poch has won the quadruple which he should do with the team he has been given.I suspect Sam Allardyce could win the ligue with that team.

The situation with Grealish shows how it should have been done. Grealish inisted on a release-clause, got the release-clause and then got the transfer that he wanted.
Kane does not have a release-clause, no idea why he didn't insist on that. As it is now then the outome might be that if he gets his move then he might not get much higher salary.
When Eriksen was sold then I have the impression that the amount that the club got was something that Eriksen thought would be his - the split in money paid for the player between the selling club and the player might not have ended up as he wanted. In the end he probably agreed to lower his wage-demands thus leading to the buying club having money to give to Spurs as transfer-fee.
Kane appears to want titles and more money, as is he might not get both and if he is not being careful then he might end up with neither.

Surely Laporte and Silva sat on the bench for City yesterday again must have taken a look around at our stadium, our crowd and been impressed .

Laporte, Silva and £100m for Kane and you have a deal City….

Seems like Kane has put out something on social media indicating that he is staying this transfer-window. If true then it is not really a long-term commitment but possibly it is the best way forward now - transfer-talks will continue between the clubs and Kane with less time-pressure. Spurs will get more time to find a replacement. Possibly a January move

For me the key now is to somehow make the Spurs midfield more press-resistant. Might need to buy a midfielder or two to make that happen. The Man City match was kind of ok given the opposition, the Pacos match was not ok and neither was the Wolves match (despite the win).

It seems that the Spurs CMs now will:
-get the ball from a FB and pass it straight back to the same FB
-get the ball from a CB and pass it straight back to the same CB
-drop down to receive the ball but drops down so deep so ends up being in line with the CBs
CBs and FBs (and the drop down deep CM) end up launching long-balls towards forwards as that appears to be the only option

Ideally the Spurs CMs could receive the ball, turn around and pass forward.
Next best would be if they could receive the ball and pass sideways.
Next best after that would be if they could receive the ball and pass to someone other than the one who passed them the ball.
But now it seems that the only thing the CMs can/dare to do is to receive the ball and pass it straight back to wherever it came from.

The recent matches have been just horrible to watch and even if Spurs were to have the best CBs and best FBs in the league then sooner or later even the best make a mistake when constantly under pressure. Spurs do not have the best CBs or the best FBs in the league, the midfield has to be improved somehow.

    Transfer-window is about to close...

It seems Spurs will have one spot open for non-HG, possibly that spot is reserved for a striker. It might happen that a HG striker from the lower leagues can fill in (Vardy was fairly low down) but unless the striker is non-HG then it might be very expensive.

Nuno has played 4-3-3 and some strange 3-5-2 (looked more like 3-6-1). If those are the preferred formations for the season then:
On the left then Regy and Sessegnon might do the LB/WB for both formations.
On the right then what is available now is Tanganga who looks very good defensively and Aurier and Doherty who both have good attacking stats.
FB/WB might be an area of concern but if the midfield can compete then maybe it can be accepted.

Comparing with Liverpool then TAA and Robertson have impressive stats but they have corner-taking duties so those stats might be inflated by that.

My guess is still that Aurier will hold out for his preferred move and let his contract run down. The question is if he'll get it now or if he'll leave on a free at the end of the season.
Ndombele.... Lots of money involved, my guess is that deals have been worked on but since nothing has been completed by now then he'll be with Spurs and hopefully do well at least until January.

I am impressed with how Dele has taken to his new role, he'll score and assist less but his contribution might do more for the team in the midfield three. Team-player.

Son & Kane can and score and create, the question might be if Bergwijn, Moura, Gil or maybe Lo Celso can step up and add some more goals and assists to their game.

Looks like a rebuild is happening, I don't expect competing for top 4 this season but maybe it can happen.

Great to see that we are after a full back from Barcelona but I really would have preferred an all out effort for a class midfielder who can provide the attacking quality we lack. It’s beginning to look like we are aiming to win ugly which won’t win anything of note.I am afraid that we are stuck with Winks and Ndombele who I believe were Pochetino darlings. We should have pushed for a midfielder as priority and that is worrying as Paratici and Nuno don’t seem to see it that way

I hope at least the "win ugly" plan works. At the moment, we are winning lucky. 9 points from 3 goalkeeping errors in 3 games.

The last day of the window and I am interested in how the fans think Paratici has done.We needed 2 centre backs we got one we needed a full back and we got one who wanted to stay at Barcelona. We got a back up goalie which was a no brainier and the I think the one gem in Gil who looks quality. We have unloaded Sissoko but still have Winks Dier Aurier and Doherty.Unless there is a last minute surprise he has not got what we needed the most and that is a midfielder with some craft and passing ability. Was this because Nuno told him to concentrate on the wide players because that would be worrying in how he intends to set up in future. All the top four have a quality midfielder why not us.Liverpool maybe don’t have as much quality as the other 3 top four but they have full backs who play like wingers and can cross a ball.Still 11hours to go and maybe Paratici has a rabbit up his sleeve even now

We do. His name is Ndombele. The fact that wants out doesn't make him any lesser. He wants out because we are not a good team. He wants to play for top Euro clubs, not in the 3rd tier of Europe. Unlike some supporters Tanguy knows well that there is not a chance for him to play in UCL even next season. It will take time and winning to convince him otherwise. And me too.

Sorry Spurporter but you must be easily pleased.Ndombele has talent but does not want to work hard enough to allow the talent to flourish. He would probably be ok in la liga where the game is played at a much slower pace.It is a shame that he has wasted his talent with us

It is hard to find a better MF that's somehow available. Those that may be available we unable to afford. And they do not want to play for mid table team Spurs are either. Levy lost the top 5 status of Spurs Poch has built for him.

I'd say keep Tanguy, integrate him back into the team. He is a Dembele replacement. Moussa didn't like to run either. Obviously, Ndombele is not a counterattacking asset. No one needs a playmaker for a counterattack. He is a long siege coordinator, someone we need against Burnley, Brighton, NewCastle.

    NDombele........ seriously???
I simply do not see a Premier League standard player in him.
too lazy. too slow. plays on his own.
    waste of money

Absolutely shambolic window, the highlights were getting rid of Lamela Sissoko & Terminating Auriers contract.
Beyond that we've not improved anywhere, we're 1 or 2 injuries away from having to play championship level players and again no back up striker.
Of course the default mode of ENIC apologists is to put spin on it so it seems successful but this squad is literally good enough to stay in the league n that's about the height of its ambition.
