Rudderless Spurs

  1. Some history for you...

Spurs were on course to score 64 under Jose... they scored 4 more than projected over the final 6 games under Mason

Jose has never scored more than 73 goals in a season in England... and he has managed some absolutely dominant fully loaded squads

Same thereabouts goes in Portugal and Italy (75 with Inter)

That’s woeful after so many years

As a comparison... EPL bests from some notable managers...

    Pep 106 goals... Ancelotti 103... Rodgers 101... Ferguson 97... Klopp 89... Wenger 87... Pochettino 86... Conte 85

People who look at Jose’s numbers at Madrid as evidence of some repressed attacking instinct neglect the fact that Madrid scored 100 plus goals in every single one of Ronaldo’s 9 seasons there save his final year... and that was done under 4 different managers

So the common denominator there is obvious

Jose... an exceptionally boring and cynical manager more concerned with not conceding than scoring no matter how good his squad... that’s always been patently evident to the eye (hence his reputation) and the numbers back it up

I don’t make this stuff up

    I need a drink.......
You know JM isn't our manager anymore...... let it go..... move on.....

NB...... I guess you could win every single league game 1-0 and only score 38

I've explained 20 years of history to you... that's more than enough

Should not have to listen to any more deluded bullshit about the junk manager who held us back this year now he's been fully debunked

I read Conte is suggesting Kane needs to stay

And he wants Skriniar, Eriksen, Perisic, Matic & Giroud.

...... yep...... DL will do that!!

Latest rumour Conte has changed his mind how much longer do we have to put up with this charade.Any other business would have sacked the chairman by now.Soon we will only have Mason left who wants it.

Incredible that No1 wants to take on this squad full of internationals, that should be in the top 4 & playing champagne football.
Best training facility & stadium on the planet aswell.
Doesn't even have to win Trophies.

What a laughing stock we are ... The management of this club in sports matters is ridiculous! Today I'm ashamed to be a Spurs fan. Clearly !!! What good player is going to want to sign there for the coming season after this masquerade?

Maybe it is coming home to Levy that having a great stadium and training facility is no good without the right players. This is why no one wants the job.

In the recent and not-so-recent past, several once great English football clubs have fallen on very hard times, with Portsmouth the most recent, but Sunderland (with a new stadium!), Sheffield Wednesday (with what was once regarded as the best club stadium in England), Forest, and others, seem to have slipped so far from the top table that only the sweetest of sugar daddies could bring back their glory days. Are Spurs too big to follow them down the slippery slope? I used to think so, but I'm having serious doubts, and how many people will turn up when the stadium is fully open will be key - will 62,000 fans be happy to watch a Kane-less Spurs competing with Everton and Villa for the also-ran trophy (at best), while the Big Boys are engaged elsewhere, and the debt is steadily mounting-up? Levy's failed so often before that it's hard to see him getting this managerial appointment right, but he's simply got to - the alternative is too awful to contemplate.

It's funny we used to get them queuing up to spit their bile the Levy fans and yet you can barely find 1 these days.
I've engaged with many over the years yet don't hear a peep these days.

    I wonder why this is ???? .......

Could it be that most comments are based on media reports currently? Perhaps there is a plan, perhaps not…can only really comment when someone is appointed because at the moment, according to the media, we have been speaking with every manager in world football.

If Levy was the shrewd business man that some media circles make him out to be, we would have had a manager in place already and have started a clear out of 6 or 7 players in addition to what happens with Kane.

Let’s hope that is the case and there’s lots happening quietly in the background and he does know more about what’s happening than the various media outlets who are coming up with more stories than Jackanory at the moment.

There are several names that appear to be quite good fits but what has happened to Potter? His name has vanished….I just hope that we are not waiting until after the euros to announce Martinez or Southgate because that really will be a disaster.

Does anyone really know what is going on .The press say we are still trying Den hag who has signed a new contract at Ajax or Pochetino who Paris won’t let go.If neither are true who would want to be about Sixth choice.I have this terrible feeling that Martinez is getting closer.Maybe our new director of football will pull a rabbit out of the bag

Maybe a top manager will sign, however, top managers are likely to have options and who'd want to risk his reputation by coming into this?

-The club with the 6th highest wage-bill in the league was 6th in the league when the sacking happened.
-Two of the latest managers claimed to have too little say on transfers. Not sure if there are any managers who are completely satisfied with the amount of control over transfers but still.
-Rumours surrounding the departure of the star-player
    -Rumours surrounding the team-captain
-'Fans' complaining about the quality of the players but still demanding that the players that they say are not good enough for top 4 or even the EPL should perform as top 4 players

It is what it is, no matter who will be the manager I do not expect much better performances than the past year:
-unless new defenders come in then a few of the defenders are still going to be error-prone and costing goals
-unless new midfielders come in then the midfield won't be able to control the match

Leicester has a thin squad, an injury or two and Spurs might over-take them. West Ham overperformed, not sure if they can do it again. Villa appears to have strengthened. Who knows what Everton might do.
So my guess is competing for top 6 with an outside shot at getting top 4 is my expectation now. Might change depending on players coming in and/or leaving but it is what it is.

The fact is Felon the side was packed with internationals but not quality. How some of our squad made international squads completely bamboozles me.Lloris Aurier aldy Dier Sanchez Davies Winks Ali Bale Sissoko Son Moura Hojbjerg Bergwin Doherty Ndombele Rodon Kane all played for their respective countries in the last 2 years and at least 11 are still current. What other teams apart from the top 4 can boast that many internationals in their squad.

The squad was easily good enough for top 4 this past term... even a clueless youth coach showed that

Remove two world class forwards from that list and we will see where we stand come the beginning of next season

As much as you've enjoyed kissing Jose's arse these last two years it's time you called a spade a spade. The previous manager ruined last season... and in the most unattractive way

The reason we haven't filled the vacancy is obvious... that's how this board negotiates its business

Where have you been all these years?

So the next coach should have no trouble whatsoever then ?
Seems like such an easy job with a garanteed good enough squad - it's amazing no 1 wants it though isn't it.

Bet you can't wait for 1 of Southgate/Martinez/Potter/Parker to arrive.
