In this case, why not Flick from Bayern ?

One FB made two rash tackles which both should have rendered yellow cards, luckily he only got one. Other than that he lost his man repeatedly and allowed dangerous shots to come in but it is the other FB who is the bad one?
Dier had a good match but he is on a must go list?
Toby had a great match but he is on a needs to be replaced list?

The team-selection was not an easy one, no matter what some might think.
Ndombele has been poor recently and based on recent for then benching him did make sense. His center of the pitch dribbles might beat the press but one failed dribble against this extremely good pressing team would lead to lethal counter.
Son has been poor recently but his threat on the counter was good to have on the pitch.
Lo Celso or Bale? Lo Celso appears to be more willing to do the dirty but necessary work so playing him made some sense.

Am amazed but not surprised by the rewriting of history, under Mourinho the squad was supposedly easily and with some margin a top 4 squad and without Mourinho it is a squad where four starters and ten more squad players need to be replaced.
The difference between now and then is apparently Mourinho? Or are there other reasons for changing the expectations of the same squad? I'd be happy to know those reasons.
If there are no other reasons then that would make what the Mourinho haters are saying that Mourinho was the one and only reason they considered the squad to be top 4. I'd say that such a lift must make Mourinho a great managers in their eyes.

We will see who will be the not-not-Pochettino, the fact that Mason put in Sissoko should be an immediate disqualification for him and honestly for that reason I'd also say I'd prefer anyone but him for the rest of the season. Putting in Sissoko hasn't worked for anyone, he might possibly be great in training but in matches he is poor and like in this final directly responsible for conceding a goal.

Thankyou Jesper worded better than I ever could.

Most have been led by a blind rage rather than a fair and sensible stand point.
It was all supposed to be terrible selections tactics & coaching before and nothing to do with this squad of international footballers that belong in the top 4 regardless....
Now the tunes are changing and as I said before il call out the sheer hypocrisy of it, because now itl be the players aren't good enough Joe Bloggs needs time and his own team etc having not even afforded the last manager 1 full season in charge.

When we end up with Eddie Howe or Mason on a 6yr deal I'm gonna crack up at the they need just coaching watch.

felon you really can’t leave it can you.I have never been led by blind rage and I certainly was not against Mourino taking over but what ever the quality of the squad the fare served up was the most boring football I have seen at our club in 60 years.I have never said that the squad was good enough but don’t try and make Mourino into a misunderstood genius let down by the players because he is no longer a top manager and what ever the new man does is irrelevant because the squad will change and if levy is consistent we will just replace average players with more average players. We are a mess and arguing the merits of the squad and manager brings us back to the end of the poch era which also split opinion and did not help us one iota

No I'm not letting it go coz when you bring in someone like JM to change the culture n rebuild you back the man as fans and as a board.
We had fans from day 1 just screaming they want him out the club couldn't accept the state of the team or how bad Pochettino had let it get.
They've whaled n whined have been led by a media campaign and anti Jose agenda to force him out the club.
(Note the free pass Arteta & Klopp have had this season even Lampard got)
Sided with the French Mafia , Alli & Winks etc who are all a much bigger issue.
Now people have got their wish reality is gonna hit home, if you're looking forward to Kane & Son going the new Manager being Potter or Parker and neither being able to attract big players to the club because they're relative nobodies don't start crying about us not winning anything for the next few years n heading down the table to Arsenal n below levels because this problem is 1 of self inflicting.
Poch shouldve been backed or demanded backing if he wasn't happy n walked, failing that the board shouldve backed JM and the fan base shouldve too to build his own side.
This whole he had £90mil to spend on 9 players for a squad that was completely broken is and has always been utter garbage.
Now we are gonna reap what we have sewn.
**** players emboldened, unable to shift for another year or 2 at least, another false dawn project doomed to failure where all the same issues will arise.

I agree. I think Levy will get either Parker or Potter. For the UEL squad it would be appropriate, as we are going back to Sherwood times.
I think Mason did a very good job to date. There were no ways to attack against City, his game plan and team selection were correct. Spurs didn't sit back, they were sat back by the superior opponent. City played their best first 30 minutes for as far as I remember. A pure perfection they were. They intercepted all our passes, the long and the short ones, all of them. There is, however, no team on the planet to play for 90 minutes the way City did for the first 30. Spurs needed to wait them over, which they did. At the end they conceded from the dead ball, something that was much easier task to defend, just when Spurs started push back. With all their might the Citizens scored the goal the Spurs hoped to score.
We had a real chance to get a puncher win, but we didn't. Still good from Mason. Besides doing good on the pitch, Ryan is good with the press being a master of cliché, something last Spurs managers weren't good at. So, Levy could keep him as well.

With regard to he players I have just watched JamieCarragher on sky give the best criticism of the lack of courage in our squad as I have seen.He particularly pointed out Winks in two instances when he was able drive forward but did a circle and then went backwards. He tore apart Sissoko and finally his opinion of Aurier was amusing as he said he was the sort of player that would make you want to give up being a manager.Well worth a look nice to see an honest opinion instead of the insipid rubbish spouted by Jamie Rednapp. He also agreed with my opinion on reguillon that he was awful .

17 months of coaching being 1 week by a youth coach? The way they play has been drilled into them for so long you can’t expect someone with zero experience to change anything in a week. Add to that fact we know we need some new players, the hope is that the next coach can get us playing better not expect a miracle after a few days from someone that is doing us a favour

Hey Geneva, I agree that Sissoko hasn’t been great but he can do a job across multiple positions and wouldn’t attract much of a fee. We can’t sell everyone so I would try to get a decent fee for Moura just to reinvest then use Sissoko when we have to if that makes sense then maybe sell Sissoko in the following window

Are you for real? Aurier continually was caught out of possession, was never in position to defend and on multiple times made bad decisions when challenging. Dier played ok but was lucky not to concede on several occasions when letting the ball run past/over him unchallenged and regularly either passed to an opponent (including his amazing reverse through ball to their attacker) or passed backwards. Who wants to replace Toby? We need CBs to complement him due to his age?

As for JM the arguement and counter arguement a have been made. If JM had us playing consistently well he would still be here. We had a handful of good games and lots of deep sitting, negative, counter attacking...even more so when we took leads which led to us losing more games from winning positions than almost all other sides. Either the players didn’t listen/ignored him or he couldn’t improve them but either way, it wasn’t working after 17 months so we needed a change.

Trust me, if we were playing great football and all the players seemed happy most people would have been happy to keep him. We wasn’t....

You are carrying on like Nagelsmann was the only option as a good replacement and JM is the only coach in world football that can win things...so if you are correct, our only other options are Howe and Potter (the latter seems to have done a decent job by the way).
I think there are plenty of other options such as Allegri, Simeone, Rodgers etc that are bigger names/experienced that we could potentially get, so why not wait and see rather than keep going on about JM (I’m pretty sure you said something to a similar effect to anyone that liked Poch when he was sacked)

Have you not seen the odds list for next manager ?
That's why I'm saying we're gonna end up with a novice.
Allegri n Rodgers won't want career suicide with this bunch.

  15. THFC Guest

Until a couple of days ago the odds were on Nagelsmann wernt they? We are probably best waiting and discussing when we actually appoint someone. If it is Potter for example, he might actually do a decent job and has a RB and CM we could pinch straight away. My point being we don’t necessarily need the biggest of names because they might not be the right fit or have the right experience...then again Allegri or Simeoni could work out perfect. I would rather have Rodgers if there was anyway to get him

You claimed that Mourinho had a squad for top 4. Now that he is gone then you say that fourteen out of twenty-five players in that very same squad should be replaced. If fourteen players aren't good for top 4 now how come they were supposedly good enough for top 4 with Mourinho?
If Poch had Spurs these players playing well then he'd still be here but he couldn't get these players to play well. Mourinho couldn't either. I don't think Pep could make this squad playing well.
Whoever put this squad together appear to think that AMs and CBs is all that is needed. The squad is unbalanced with too many AMs and CBs making it almost impossible to play any formation without having at least one player out of position. It was even more unbalanced a year ago.

Reg could easily have been sent off for his bad tackles already in the first half. He gave away free-kicks in dangerous positions. He stood off Mahrez allowing Mahrez space to try his favourite trick of cutting in and shooting with his left foot.
Reg has not been good for weeks if not months and his poor defending has cost goals. But Reg is not Aurier who most importantly isn't Walker so Reg is therefore performing at an acceptable level/standard?
Rash, poor decision-making and caught out of position is more accurate for Reg than Aurier at the moment.

The conceded goal came from a mistake by Sissoko, no marking. The set-piece was not in a very dangerous position, the marking and the 'jump' by Sissoko were both so bad that he might not even have been there.

Key now is not to copy Arsenal and blame poor results on the manager instead of on poor recruitment. Get the recuitment right and then whoever is the manager won't have to work miracles. Miracles rarely happens so unless the recruitment gets better then abandon hope for trophies and CL-football.

& honestly, I am for real and I am curious how you can without any apparent shame claim that the squad Mourinho had was top 4 quality but the same squad now had by another manager needs to replace four starters and ten other squad-member out of a squad of 25 to be of top 4 quality?

I ahave always said we NEED 4 players...in an ideal world we will swap 8 to build rotation....of the 8 I mentioned to be sold or gone, 5 are subs and 1 is a loan?

We have the core of a very good side...we just have not been playing well enough, consistently enough. Our results earlier in the season proved that point. It’s only our approach and attitude that have let us down and both of those things are a coaches responsibility to at least improve.

Regy didn’t have a great game but was playing against a 2 footed player who is at the top of his game and did well enough IMO. Regy is in no way comparable to Aurier so I’m not going to ride to that bait.

Sissoko did jump (although not very high) but it was a needless free kick conceded by your mate Aurier and he should not have been marking a CB (so who is to blame for that)?

As for the squad, are they capable of top 4 with who we have...yes....have we missed an opportunity by our play...yes.

Oh and I think you are very wrong about our style of play with the current players if we had Pep as coach.

No no get it right you were constantly saying this team should be top, it's full of internationals that just aren't being coached properly.
How it had been backed with all the necessary players and money for the rebuild.
There was literally no excuse but Mourinho.

As I said earlier the tunes are all changing.

    Hypocrisy at its finest.

Don’t carry on with this wind up Thfc you can’t really think this squad is capable of top four and don’t tell me that reguillon had a decent game he was bloody awful. The

I didnt think he was awful and given the quality of the league I think the squad is capable of a top 4 place
