Who was easily turned? That was a very odd 48 hours and apart from the double save, we looked like a better side (especially in the second half).

we have got a relatively winnable run in, especially when comparing to those around us so if we manage to beat Sheffield, Villa, Wolves and Leeds...all of whom are absolutely beatable, we could face the prospect of landing in the top 4 in the final game. If we manage that, with the oddities that we have seen this season, that would be a great outcome and a good starting point for our next manager. Then again, we could lose all and end up in 10th

Changing the subject I been amazed by the lack of fury on this site over the super league. Most fans have demanded answers and apologies for their clubs involvement.Levy has not apologised but gives a statement to say why he was for it GREED.The contract that was signed was 1700pages long so was not an overnight decision. So how long had he been conniving behind footballs back.Did Mourino have an idea or was he kept in the dark,.The man should be removed from our club ASAP.His reputation with the rest of the league chairman will have been damaged and he will no longer find it easy to negotiate on our behalf.I suspect the timing of Mourinos sacking was done to deflect away from the announcement of the super league

Let's be honest we were never in the game until Ings goes off. Bale does what he can do and finish but his overall game is so passive. He looks still quick to me but cannot or chooses not to sprint much probably in fear of muscular injury but his inclusion cannot be justified by his goals alone. The team needs to function with balance, work rate and pressing. Personally the sacking has set us back now to pre redknapp a top 8 side looking to break into the top 4. It's going to be a rookie manager who will be happy in a big ish job with no confidence to question his chairman. The sacking is a last throw of the dice to get a bounce that may or may not ensure top 4 at the expense of Sundays final which any chance we had is now gone. To sack a manager with a history of trophy hunting and what seemed like a remit to win trophies 6 day before the very final he gets you to is strange to me.

Anyone would think we played Saints off the park yesterday some of the sh;t ive read today over SM.
Mason is being spoken up like a shoe in for the job now.

We are still in with a shout of top 4 (because we actually weren't as bad statistically as everyone was led to believe) hence 1 win puts us right back in the mix...

If we get Top 4 Mason will get the gig permanently I reckon and looking at the remaining fixtures we definitely have a punching chance and need to capitalise.
But it would be the wrong appointment long term, once the bounce/stumble goes and these players revert to type (see 1st half) then nice guy yes man Mason will get chewed up n spat out.

The whole structure club/team needs new ideas n that starts with getting all the wage thieves out, failure to do so and this will just continue.

Even Levy would not be stupid enough to give the job full time to Mason even if he wins all the remaining games. As much as some of the clutching at straws. Supporters on here who think one scrappy win means a new beginning I don’t think the sensible majority would stand for it.The only problem I see now for finding a new man is who would trust Levy after his latest faux pas with the super league

  6. I’m not sure why you’re getting worked up over Mason. He’s an interim coach if ever there was one. There’s absolutely zero chance of him getting the job no matter what transpires.

So the inmates will run the asylum for now so to speak and believe it or not that is our best chance to salvage something from the remainder of this season.

The road ahead with Jose was clear... we were on our way out of Europe altogether. Because yes statistically we’ve been poor... and our league position was beginning to align with that

The players lost faith with Jose (as they invariably do)... as would you if your boss tied one hand behind your back and then told everyone you were a bag of **** for not getting the job done

  7. Not sure why everyone is jerking off about Ings. Our best forward... one of Europe’s very best... didn’t even play. We dominated the ball in this game which is a step in the right direction

And yes forwards are judged on goals/assists... when exactly did that change?

The previous manager selected his forward line (and back line) on pace/defensive work rate... that’s a major part why he’s no longer employed

It’s mad for anyone to expect a miraculous improvement but given the ESL and sacking of JM, I thought we looked like the better side and deserved the win.

Our own players have publicly stated that they felt that we had adjusted our attacking mindset which made them feel better and ultimately should lead to improvements in our performances (given that our only decent players are attackers).

We do need a squad overhaul and the fact that Lamela actually wants to leave is a blesssing.

The best thing we can hope for is a decent run in with a bit of confidence against sides that have been very hit and miss and we might just make top 4.

The big decision is then who do we get in..several have pros and cons but as long as we go for someone who wants to play on the front foot, has a relationship with players and the ability to adjust tactics during games it will be better than the last 17 months

It is a new beginning because deep defensive punt ball is gone...no matter what happens, at least we might actually be interesting to watch again

I agree that the timing was odd but as in most of the games this season, our chances of winning are exactly the same as they always were...we have either been terrible or great. I don’t think the change will make any difference in that regard and it will be interesting to see which side turns up. The fact we seemed to play on the front foot against Southampton only seems a positive thing for the final to me and hopefully we can pinch something off of a very good side.
I don’t agree with the sacking setting us back though, we were on a very toxic slope and the change should have been made sooner IMO as it was plain as day that it wasn’t going to work out

Why not? He gave the job to Sherwood (took it back only because Van Gaal agreed to manage Spurs and then escaped to MU), also the youth coach at the time.
I would have given the job to devil, if we win all remaining games. Mason is not bad.

It's funny how people think football should work. I would never employ someone who hasn't had the relevant experience for a job in my organization. I would not hire based on speculation as to how that person will person on the job but how that the person has performed previously in a similar job.

If my ambition is Top 4, I would hire someone who has brought a club to Top 4 finish or retained Top 4 position. To depart from that criteria would require some serious consideration. When Chelsea appointed Lampard, I raised my eyebrow. If we consider Gerard or Mason seriously for the full-time job, then we deserve to be where we are now.

But to beat up and talk down Mason is pointless either. All we can do is to encourage him for the remaining games he's in charge.

20 years the Charlatan has had to get the recruitment structures in place for Managers/Players/Academy/Club philosophy etc.
Just stumbling from 1 calamity to the next, no proper structure, no consistent/contingency plans, still making the same expensive mistakes caused by being and doing things on the cheap.
The latest debacle just the icing on the cake of serial failure.

    Levy out !

The man does not understand football he is only a business man and should do what the trust recommend and resignIt shows how bad he is when the toothless trust get annoyed. As for Spurporter saying why not give job to Mason this sums up the accept any old rubbish attitude of most of the Tottenham faithful and is why we will always struggle under this regime

I am not a Levy/ENIC hater but 20 years is a long time. Sometimes a change is necessary if you want a quantum leap. Same Chairman, Same Management, Same Result. The Result is a unsustainable Top 4 finish, let alone winning the league. Competition is always getting tougher. If we don't see substantial injection of funds and continue to operate at our current financial structure, it's unlikely that we will attract world-class players to win anything substantial.

Trepidation is the feeling.I know that this site is about the male side of the club but our ladies are 4 down to united after 48 minutes .Another of the lack of interest from levy where the Chelsea and Arsenal and city snap up all the female talent and compete in the European competitions we languish at the bottom of the league. This may not matter to the male chauvinists but I also enjoy the women’s game and would like to see us compete but as usual Levy does it on the cheap

    We've got a decent chance

We've got some very experienced players who've both played in and won some of the biggest games on earth

For Spurs particularly those who've been here a number of years I don't think anyone leaves anything on the pitch today

    We're certainly due...

Best of luck to the lads

It's all down to one game. We can win if the players give it their all! We've beaten City before against the odds.
