Sorry Jose’s ghost but I am afraid you don’t really see the damage that will be done to the rest of the clubs .whosaid the richest should get preferential treatment .History tells me that likes of Villa and Leeds have far better history than us and should be given preferencial treatment for their history alone. What about Celtic and Rangers with a support to match any European club.Athletico Madrid are included and it’s well known in Spain that they would not survive without champions league football
This is pure American greed and I for one won’t support it or watch it even if we are in it soon we will have cheer leaders god forbid.Watch the tele and see the total disgust from the pundits even from Neville against his own club.

Just a small point who cares about the rest of the season because our beloved chairman knows we are in Europe next year in the super league if it comes off.Probably why he sacked Jose because it’s irrelevant and he has promised a new man the super league. What a hateful little man

Spurs being stuck in a league of giants being the weekly whipping boys with not even the hope of relegation to put us out of our misery all whilst ENIC Syphon off astronomical profit but still won't spend enough to compete.

It's the football equivalent of a permanent state of purgatory.

Purgatory is bad analogy, as it is still better than hell.

Apparently they intend to run this competition alongside the champions league and the uefa cupDoes this mean that the team finishing 7th will be in champions league and so on .If so finishing13 th will get you Europe. If the clubs are not thrown out of our league does that mean weakened teams in league to save the players for the big one

We don’t know anything about it yet really? If the top 6 sides in the premier league, top 3 in Spain and Italy and potentially a few more sign up, there is probably a reason that they have done it.

My very limited understanding is that we will stay in the Premier League, it’s just designed to replace the Champions League/Europa League?

Are both of those competitions not run by FIFA and UEFA who have experienced some honesty issues when it comes to finances over the years?

I am not for one second anti FIFA or UEFA but history does show there have been some questionable decisions made and what seems to be a lot of money is you believe what some people say.

If we know anything about Levy and Enic, it’s that there is no way we wouldn’t have been part of this so called elite group. IMO Levy has done wonders to actually get us in because as winners of the Audi Cup, we seem to be punching a little above our weight if it does take off.

I think the problem is he hasn’t improved us one little bit. We are terrible to watch, we have half a squad that isn’t great and the other half that can’t or won’t play for him. I really think he was a world class coach once but his ending at Chelsea, stint at Utd and time with us show that he really isn’t anymore. The expectation should have been to drive a mild improvement from us and to at least have what players we do have playing like a team who would rather die than concede a goal....he was famous for narrow victories and not letting leads slip and that was built at a time when he had a very good squad that all believed in him. We have an ok squad, with maybe one or two players buying into him and the rest either fearful of reprimand or public shaming or quite simply with their minds elsewhere in the hope they got sold this summer. A world class coach would not have made some of the selections he did and would not have changed the starting 11 and formation so regularly. It’s a shame because he is a funny guy and a big name but he is not the coach he was or that any of hoped he would be. Let’s hope we choose a manager next that has built teams on a formula that suits today’s game

I think you are right in terms of other sides and FIFA & UEFA are trying to make those European competitons the best they can be to be fair to them both.

The problem is the Europa League is becoming more and more like the Carabao Cup. It can be very difficult for some of the teams when the Premier League are so insistent on schedules to suit TV which means you travel to the very ends of Europe then have to fly home for a game 2 days later in some cases, all because of fitting for TV.

I am not for or against the idea as don’t know anything about it but am honestly amazed that somehow is and Arsenal made the final cut.

I assume after the first season of the Super League we will be binned for not being 'Super'

Haha it will be an annual play off vs Arsenal for the wooden spoon

I see that Ryan Mason has the managers job for the rest of the season.I have no axe to grind with Ryan but can you think of any other club that would give their player development manager the main job before a major cup final and 7 important games in the league.Obviously Ryan can’t lose because if he wins a few games he is a hero if not nobody expected anything.I would like to know the real truth about the timing of the sacking as even for the bald gnome this is off the charts.I suspect the players had approachedLevy about him losing the dressing room and I had heard rumours for quite a while that his training sessions were mind boggling boring.Mourinos assisstant was supposedly not liked by the players as well.I wish Ryan all the luck in the world I think he is going to need it

I have a bad feeling that all the big names wel be linked with won't come and wel end up with some absolute no mark or a journey man and itl get worse.

Perhaps the payout would have been higher if we somehow won the Carabao....that or the Super League announcement really was the perfect thing to take the focus away

  14. Guesty Guest

Mason has the job because we now don't need to finish in any particular position for European football. We have the Super League.
DL (& others) has sold football again for money

It won't even matter if we (and the other 5 teams) are relegated to the Championship..... as DL can field a youth team in that and save our top players only for midweek games.

For me the 6 clubs should be relegated and their players banned from playing in any UEFA/FIFA competitions and also for their countries.
Perhaps some players will ask for moves to clubs not in the Super League.

  15. Guesty Guest

... of course if the Super League gets binned.... DL will get egg on his face appointing Mason if we don't finish in a European league position

Without the threat of relegation and real competition, it will probably turn into the equivalent of the Super Cup or World Club Cup which are both right up there alongside the Carabao and the Audi cups

I don’t think the super league will take off in the end because I think the 6 have been surprised by the vehement protests.Itappears that Man City are already weakening. The American money grabbing 3 will probably hang on plus our parasite of a chairman .I wonder how the American public would react to Europeans trying to change their sports. How can Levy seriously be looking for a manager who he hopes agrees with his backstabbing.Because the way the German clubs are owned they cannot join the traitors and does that mean our future manager must be a fan of the super league which would probably not be a. German. The idiot ex Madrid man leading this has said that Madrid lost 300million because of COVID and this would help get it back. Has nobody told him that all clubs lost money and some have gone bankrupt.Sums up the pure arrogance of the man

You'd think Perez and Co are so naïve as to not to weight out all the possible ramifications? UEFA or EPL will not ban anyone from anything. There are no legal ways to do that. Euros will go as planned and so will the EPL. When dust will settle ESL should become a reality. It may not start this August. That is all that might temporary impede it.
This is largely a philosophical dispute. If you, in general, think that the rich are responsible for the poor (football or not), than you should oppose it. If you want to see the football advanced to a new heights, then you are pro-capitalism and will support the ESL. I do.
It is very beneficial for Spurs (based on the current, we don't deserve it). We will get ESL money, TV money, best players, best coaches. Levy will invest in the squad. Obviously, it is not a close group, as presented. There will be relegations and there will be promotions. So, "founders" could go down eventually. Nottingham Forest were the founders of the EPL, for example.
Most importantly the ESL should end the " sugar daddy" advantage at least for awhile.

Spurporter you have woken up .How do you know that there are no legal ways to stop the ESL and yes Perez is an arrogant and naive man only interested in helping RealMadrid .If you think we will get the best players it’s you who naive we will be bottom year in year out playing the same teams over and over. There will not be relegation or are you not familiar with the USA way and if you think Levy will invest in the squad you really are totally NAIVE
