The point is not about which level of football has been played by any individual, it’s more about a lack of understanding of the impact that players can have without the ball and by keeping things simple. Lots of top managers have never played at a high standard but the good ones have that appreciation, the two you mentioned particularly so which kind of proved the point?

Thanks to results elsewhere, this wasn’t a terrible result. The performance yet again was awful to watch but hopefully we will start to improve soon. I have never liked the way we have played under JM but based on the opinions of several on here and the documentary, really want JM to be successful. It’s another case of style vs substance and in order to win, I think we need to accept the fact we are one of the worst teams to watch in the PL week in and week out. If we somehow manage to finish top 4 and sneak a cup, it would have been worth it to try and change mentality as we must win something soon. If we don’t, we surely can’t accept this for another season and there are a few managers that would be worth a punt who could probably have us playing a better brand of football and still get results (Alegre & Tuchel spring to mind).

I think the game against Wolves probably proves that Jesper is right in terms of the fact as bad as Aurier is defensively, he would have given us way more than we showed going forward. Until we sign a decent RB that can get up and down the line, we probably should only be starting Aurier, especially in a 3-5-2

Its no longer just.. about results for me I want to enjoy watching us play.we are the worst watch in the premier league& nobody has ever said that about spurs in my lifetimeDo we intend to play the same way next against Fulham at home God forbid. We are fast becoming a laughing stock because of the way we play and the crushing boredom we produce.

Just seen Mourinos after match comments and who is he trying to kid.He says he did not want to sit back in second half and basically blamed the players for not being able to go for more goals.Never his fault .Kane sits in midfield and son is on his own up front and this is not his instructions but the players choice .Do me a favour. He said it was the same at Liverpool .How much longer can the players take this from him before they say enough. He will never change if results are not good throw the players under the bus.We all know we have some weak players but Jose picks the team and chooses the formations and still picks Sanchez Winks Davies. He has played this way for years now so accept your outdated Jose

Sanchez didn't have a bad game. Davies neither on the contrary. Except on the goal of the wolves. On the other hand, why a player like winks who is useless defensively, is not positioned at the 2nd post? why, moreover, do we no longer put players at the 1st and 2nd post on corners? Winks was ok 50 minutes but when mourinho started his changes the only player who was a risk for us was winks. Instead of bringing in sissoko for him no, he prefers to leave ndombele which was excellent yesterday! Shame on you José for this tactical ineptitude!

As Jose said in 2004 following a 0-0 draw with us...

I would have been frustrated if I were a supporter who paid £50 to watch this game because Spurs came to defend

(interesting fact... we generated as many shots that day as we did yesterday... and against a far superior opponent)

When you ask your backline to absorb so much pressure each and every week it really should come as no surprise to regularly concede late when mental fatigue is greatest and your opponent is throwing caution to the wind

Perhaps Jose will jag us a Carabao with this chaff and then everyone can be absolutely ecstatic with that and we can politely ask him to leave

Shocking to watch and not getting results either ! just checked and we have thrown away at least 8 points from good positions in games so far this season also thought Kane and Son were a bit off yesterday along with others, to top it Mourinho hints that players didn't try to go for win even though he did his usual negative set up after leading to get a result which backfired ! can't believe the majority of players are enjoying playing this style of football and even if we win a Cup this season think Harry will prob go also didn't like Manager digging out Dele last week after he made a mistake for Stoke's goal, didnt hear him do that to Aurier after his shocker against Leicester although hasn't played him since, he seems quite harsh and a bit unfair in the way he does things nowadays.

Thfc says it’s not about which level of football you have played so why mention it when trying to put someone’s opinion down

Not trying to put anyone’s opinion down, so maybe read the thread....players that track, cover space, make ground and play simple passes, play a huge part in a team, especially in that position/formation. Using that against a player who is a regular starter for both France and Tottenham would seem to indicate that it’s not an opinion based on experience playing...it’s not a criticism, it’s an observation.

I have read the article and agree with most of it.How depressing that only West Brom are below us in shots an they will probably go down unless big Sam does his magic.I bet Newcastle fans won’t believe it and they admit they are set up to defend at all costs.Nothing will convince me that the team play this way through choice.I know we have a lot of players who are not as good as they think they are but we do have a better squad than all but the big money boys.Jose’s team selection is a mystery to me and his substitutions confusing. We do not have a leader on the field and and how Kane gets the job for England is amazingWhen I watch Liverpool Jordan Henderson is always urging his team on .Jose is the manager but who does the day to day coaching because in all my time supporting spurs. I have not seen such poor passing.and all done at a snails pace.

Wolves midfield out done Spurs. Without an ability to get through the middle of the pitch all wishes about an attack would be just that. Mou just don't have able bodies for the fight, he was forced to play Regulion in MF. Then Ndombele, as usual, expired. JM could only put Dele as a suitable replacement. He used Sissoko, so that is when 2ng goal got out of the picture completely. Spurs had an hour to score the 2nd goal (not 89 min!). They could not because Wolves overloaded their MF. If Ndombele was able to play 90, there was a chance to extend that time.
I do not see much of the tragedy here. Football is a game and gamble is the large part of it. Only a truly exceptional play cannot be defended against. So Mou gambled that Wolves would not come up with it, since they were pretty much impotent the entire game. He lost because they did.
Draw is not that bad for the squad that is tired and depleted.

I am amazed to say that some of you were correct...there is a worse RB than Aurier but sadly he plays for us too..I would like to know who at Spurs thought Doherty would be an upgrade because he is really bad. Probably the same person who is coaching Bergwijn at shooting.

That ball from Kane and the finish from Sonny....magnificent. Ndombele is looking better and better each week, let’s hope he gets to at least 70 mins today because he is looking magic on the ball

How can you judge that game.Leeds style suits Jose’s style to play on break.Brilliant goal from the duo again but still some abysmal individual performances .Docherty is the worst right back I have seen at Tottenham and that includes Aurier.Winks again does nothing to inspire me although I think the commentators are watching a different player because they say he played well.Bergwin puts in a shift but his final ball is usually poor.Must praise the two centre backs who did play well plus Hojbjerg again our best player. Not the greatest fan of Sissoko but I do feel more comfortable when he replaces Winks.Let’s hope we are done some favours this weekend
