Confusing two issues you are. It was not about JM vs MP. Felon82 insisted that Levy will not back Mourinho up, very much like most here, including yourself, Preed. I was in disagreement then.

We loaned 2 players, another is on a loan/buy back deal, then we purchased another 4 players.
A LB & RB which were desperately needed due to neglect.
A DM desperately needed due to neglect.
A washed up Keeper on a Free.
A back up striker which was desperately needed.
A CB that was to replace an outgoing class 1.
And a gamble on Bale who's yet to show if it will pay off.

It was a major patch up job that should never have got to that state of repair.
JM has bought clever with the crumbs he's been given.

I would discount that. Not sure about Vinicius, so far he is no different than Ndombele a year ago. Needs adjustment, etc. Which are the other words for not hitting ground running.
I am glad ENIC backed JM, it was very helpful. Yet the largest breakthrough came from Mourinho himself. That was when he figured out Eriksen replacement. With Kane, nonetheless. That, and making Ndombele/LoCelso a box-to-box MF replacing Moussa Dembele, something Poch couldn't do.

I’ve been watching this from the sideline for a while and thought I would put my thoughts in

Pochetino- Thought he was great for the team, got me excited watching the team for the first time since Hoddle and Ossies time . Did an amazing job guiding the team through a really difficult period whilst transitioning from WHL
The issues he had were not being strong enough to put his foot down for a few signings and then the biggest one IMO was suggesting he would leave after champions league final Without winning it, that then made him look a bit daft and fractured the team spirit, not setting a good example for the players
Having said that I think it was then the perfect storm in his final season, a few of the first games could have gone either way and changed the perception, plus he got some good players in , Ndombele and Lo Celso, who had injuries or couldn’t adapt quickly enough Plus the CE situation affected everyone. So finally I think it was right that he left but personally would have preferred him seeing out the season

Choosing JM was like scraping my nails down a chalkboard, despised the guy BUT it had to be someone with a certain character and CV otherwise the players would have eaten him alive because of their love of Poch

I have to say the Amazon series helped me start changing my opinion of JM and I think his man management has been excellent I think he has changed the mentality of the team and brought in good players that were needed. Yes I preferred the early Poch playing style but so far this season the results are all that matters, however we still have a nasty run ahead and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the negativity return to this board in spades if we lose a few of the next games. It’s definitely a “fickle forum”

Tough game against Chelsea ahead, with only two days rest , if we get a draw, I would be very happy. COYS

    Really good summation...

Pochettino deserves a great deal of credit for all his work but you are very much correct to point out that he did not set the proper tone at all leading up to the Champions League final. I would also suggest starting an unfit Kane and benching Lucas (the hat-trick hero of the semi-final) were significant blunders in losing what was a very winnable game.

Quietly - with the dinosaur tactics we're the 1st English side to reach 40 goals this season in all comps (just 16 games)

Rested the main players tonight aswell, professional result. Good to see Vinny getting a brace.

Good point today hard won.Disapointed with the lack of attacking play but I think Jose did not want to lose.Rodon looks like a good buy although he made two mistakes he will learn quickly.Still wish Bergwin would make better final choices because he works so hard for the team and defends well.Just watched the nonce Lampard saying Chelsea were better team but they did not really carve out any clear cut chances as far as I am concerned.Really don’t like the man too full of his own self importance.Pity Southampton collapsed earlier and let the northern idiots back in the race

To be fair Frank is a good man... and 'Arry's nephew yeah? Unfortunately he never played for us. He's not wrong... Chelsea were slightly better overall. Not at the half... that was us... but by the end yes.

Normally a draw away to a top 4 rival would be a better than satisfactory result. But with the empty stadiums... and the evaporation of home field advantage... I'm not so sure.

We didn't lose... and are still top of the table. That is something to celebrate at least.

Really? you don't strike me as the well read type

  14. He was pretty complimentary to us before and after the game... perhaps not for what we did on the pitch but you can hardly blame him for that

Don’t get me wrong... I have a particular disdain for Chelsea (what sensible person wouldn’t?) but that doesn’t mean that everyone who has ever pulled on their shirt is an absolute coont

  15. mates, we nneed to understand....it aint like we been playing defensively against every side...it's just like playing against these top teams that have the money to go out and spend 65 million or whatever on a centreback we end up sitting back a bit and using the block, but we put 6 away against scum from north when it coulda been 8 and den look...we look good on the counter. players switching positions, positive movement. Near de end of poch's time, we looked right boring and out of ideas, that match against city was the best defending I've seen from a spurs team in my lifetime...and den, tink about it, if Mourinho's style supposedly wears on the players, whatabout the other games against the bottom-feeders...when we aint sitting back but hitten them with go go go g0 g0 like santa claus you know what I mean? power to spurs though and big ups to you too

Jose,s ghost if you think his thinly disguised comments were praise then you don’t listen . He was being critical of our style because he didn’t win and before the game it was the usual bull saying he knew how we would play.If so why could he not counter it.We beg to differ I think he is a self important dick and you think he is the second coming. How would he cope without the freedom to spend more than any other club.By the way your comments about Guesty were a bit nasty and he is entitled to his opinion without nastiness

Cb has been a problem this year as the Cb pair who have played over the last 4/5 seasons Toby/Verts was finally broken.
Toby is spurs best defender and has formed solid partnerships with Sanchez and Dier. Losing Toby to injury and replacing him with Rodon is a massive downgrade.
Jm made the right call to go ultra defensive ( a point is better for us than them) Rodon looked shaky and needed as much protection as possible, there is no way spurs can leave any space in behind and leave this guy exposed as he will make more errors.
Hopefully spurs win in Lask, freeing up Sanchez or Toby gets fit if not or if Jm decides to go with Rodon again then spurs will have to adopt the same ultra defensive set up. Coys

Whenever i look at the big picture even if spurs are not playing with a flow i have nothing but admiration for the job Jm has done up to now.

Spurs have lost only 2 times in 19 games, gaining 39pts at just over 2ppg. Spurs have 7pts from 3 games vs teams who finished in top4 last season. Spurs have best GD and have conceded least amount of goals in prem this term.

I was for JM as MP time was up and JM was the only manager i think the players would respect at that time.
He did have me a little worried at times when spurs went through a bad patch mainly due to having no striker and i have questioned some of his team selections and spurs sitting deep and hoofing the ball to nobody. However, looking back i would say Jm calls it right 8/10 times.

As felon pointed out his got spurs to the top on scraps, hopefully he is given some money in Jan as spurs are 1/2 starters away from a special season. COys

Tonight’s team Hart average Doherty embarrassing Sanchez embarrassing Tanganga weak Davies average de celso embarrassing ndombele poor Hojbjerg poorMoura non existent Bale poor Son average. How can a team that has played well at times this year put on such a terrible performance.we found it hard to put together more than one pass and we lost every 50/50 ball.Maybe it’s early days for Doherty but so far he has been apalling and I can’t wail for Aurier to come back in.As for Moura he is a busted flush and should not be anywhere near the first eleven.I said hart was average but having just watched their second goal I change my opinion to embarrassing.when we don’t have Kane we don’t know how to play and there is a total lack of movement and passing .Is this because of the way Jose plays with the first team when he sits back.He needs to kick a few bums before Sunday or we could lose to a poor Arsenal team who are better than this lot we played tonight although we made them look like world beaters.Celso is really struggling and you can’t play him and ndombele in the same team at the moment. As for Sanchez I have said it before he should be sold before he does anymore damage.Surely Ledly can teach him something good.
