Surely he did. He told Aurier to go forward and don't look back much. Aurier was not a defender for Spurs against RB. He was a wing-back, which is a midfielder position in the 3-4-3 system employed. We had 3 defenders back. Well, Angelino just killed us on that flank. Paul Mitchell sniped him from ManCity on loan. I don't think City will let the Spaniard to go to Germany permanently, as he, at 23, is their LB for the future.
Ever since Paul Mitchell left Spurs, we got a mediocre signings. I may be wrong , but his last was Son in 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Mitchell_(footballer,_born_1981)

In Leipzig JP has demonstrated that he knows very well how to play the attacking football and that the criticism of his defensive, sitting deep back posture was unfair. How it all ended we know.
The Mourinho show was, however, spoiled by Hugo's mistakes on first two goals, so it turned into nightmare way too soon. Spurs were supposed to be killed fighting, but our soldiers were sunk in own vomit and urine at very onset of the battle.

In the case of Aurrier you can lead a horse to water springs to mind......

I dunno how anyone sees a player as bad as Aurrier and blames the Manager (who didn't buy him) for it.

Or a Goal Keeper that can't do the basics.

    It's laughable.

The simple fact is we can’t nor shouldn’t play 3 at the back plus wing backs - it’s never worked for us and certainly with current personnel never will. Giving Aurier and Sess excuses not to defend is plain suicide...

Pochettinos 1st full season in charge at Spurs see us leak 53goals.
When JM was handed this team it had already conceded 17 goals, it's now 40 with 8 to play.
I don't remember the hostilities against Pochettino when he'd had a pre season and inherited a team that had finished 6th.
Yet Jose gets lumbered with a side in 14th that's been haemorrhaging goals for a year prior to his arrival and he's at fault for it?
Seriously the football is terrible due to terrible players with a terrible attitude that's been massively exposed due to not having Kane and Son to cover over their complete lack of ability and professionalism.
I just hope JM is ruthless and is backed in the summer coz if he's not he's onto a hiding just like the rest of the club.
But seriously this scathing towards him is completely irrational currently.

Head of scouting and/or sporting director is in my opinion more to blame than ENIC/Levy. ENIC/Levy are probably in it for the money and I'd expect them to know that to make money then money needs to be invested. There has been investments in the squad, some investments have been poor and the selection of those investments needs to be done better. Whoever is selecting which players to invest in might need to improve or be replaced.

That is very true, although I can't figure out why a professional footballers cannot adapt to particular playing scheme.
Defense is a team effort as well as attack. Last 50 years football it total. But on 2nd goal Aurier wasn't the last man out and should not be blamed solely for his poor header. Dier didn't block the cross and Lloris had a bad game.

    Everybody is to blame.
    - Levy for not refreshing the squad timely and let it stale
    - Poch for not being good scout himself and relying on what was bought by Heaton.
    - Players for lack of leadership and killer instincts required for top team
-Mourinho for his inability to deal with adversities and effectively operate the thin squad Spurs are.

Yep, plenty of blame to go around and nobody is completely without fault. The ones I blame the most are the ones responsible for selecting the ones who were bought.

    Understood, but disagree.

It would be true, should Spurs were Real Madrid or other Tier 1 club. Then the scouting the talent would be a number one factor, based on the assumption that it is the only factor. In fact it is not. Spurs are Tier 2 club at their best, so they can only get Tier 2 players ( I'd leave the Tier 3 wages out). So, for years, unlike RM or Juventus we do not buy an established players. If we do, we would only stuck in Tier 2 mediocrity.

Spurs buy the players with potential to become a world class Tier 1 players at Tier 2 conditions (price + club reputation). Such approach is still a gambling , compared to how Tier 1 clubs buy. Therefore, an expectations for recruitment applicable to Liverpool, PSG or Barcelona cannot be used at Spurs. We can only buy those who agree to join us, there are many other factors that reduce the quality available. As such, the recruitment is not a primary reason for lack of success. It is a problem to begin with.

It is difficult to find a proper replacement for Hitchen. As I said, recruitment of young talent Spurs do, is always a gamble. Plus, replanting to EPL is often a painful process, so very few of the new signings would hit the ground running, usually. It is quite possible that next season all those lads will be just fine, like JM hopes.

I don't know. The way I see it then all clubs have a mix of successes and failures in their recruitment. The ratio of success to failure at Spurs might be average to other comparable clubs, it might be worse than average or possibly even better than average. My gut-feeling is that Spurs have had a worse than average success to failure ratio.

Surely the suspension is good news for us as by the time games recommence Kane andSon and Sissoko could be fit to play

Well it appears they may cancel the Euros so probably extend the season get Kane and Son back and our problems are over nah not really still think we'll probably end up 8th or lower whatever happens only positive is that Kane will get some of the summer off before he leaves for 150 million ffs got to love the **** spread by the media

I think Kane will go....but for more than £150m....possibly £175m

    Question is-

Would you have taken last 16 CL and a pandemic at the start of the season?
