When Lamela came back from injury recently, all in the know, knew he wouldn't make it to the end of the season, he is injured again in less than 2 months. What should spurs do with him? I say sell in the summer. Coys

I agree palmover that tan Ganga defends against tricky wingers better than Davies but if you don’t move him to centre half we are stuck with either Vertongen who is beaten by a simple long pass all the time or Sanchez who makes at least two mistakes a game.Hope fully Mourino can get into Sanchez because I believe there is a player in there

Newly composed midfield played as well together as a newly composed midfield can be expected to play. For long periods it looked like the players in the midfield did not know where to be or who to cover.

Am not sure what to think about Ndombele. Looks like potentially a great player - great talent but not all talent becomes regular top-performers. Might be that he has not yet settled into the move to new country, new team and new environment.

Dier has an impressive range of passing, good tackler and big physical presence. But when I see how he at times firmly plants his feet to the ground when trying to stop players/play getting past him then I get a bit perplexed... Might work in rugby but in football it does not work. He is probably good to have in the squad but probably not good enough to be a regular starter.

Is what Dier is something that the people arguing for a CDM want? But better passer, better tackler and bigger physical presence than Dier? Or is it a Ndidi/ Kante type of player?

I think in the 1st period Spurs were executing Mourinho's plan and were careless with the ball BY DESIGN. The plan was to win the game in last 30 minutes. For that they had to keep the ball deep in Spurs end, make Saints pressers to run as much as practical to make them tired; send the ball deep in opposing end or just be dispossessed at their end to make them cover more ground coming at Spurs. The second So'hampton goal was something that could seriously hurt Mou's plan, but Spurs showed some resilience and scored two when Saints were spent physically.
I, frankly, hated to see Saints playing Pochettino's Top 4 style, whilst Spurs were looking like a club fighting relegation. But result is good.

Unless I’ve been watching someone else, Dier is not good enough at all. He has a great range of passing sideways and backwards, no further than 10 yards. Milk turns quicker than he can run and if anyone with pace gets at him, he’s done (with feet planted in the turf as you have said). I’m not sure I buy the comments somewhere else on here that he’s part of the spurs family like certain other players. We signed him from Sporting and am not sure he has the same loyalty/desire for the club that say Winks,Kane or Tanganga (based on his comments this season) would have.

You hit the nail on the head with the CDM we need...IMO we need a kante/ndidi type that has heaps of energy, isn’t scared to tackle and has the ability to pass forwards/drive forwards at pace. Sissoko is 70% the player....just can’t pass or shoot which is a shame because his effort, power and energy make him nearly my favourite player. Then he scuffs a simple 5 yard pass or shoots at the corner flag and he drops down my list again :)

It would appear that Jose wants teams to press and leave space behind them for Moura and Son to exploit and if they got there passes right we could have got a couple of goals on the break not the most effective or exciting way to play but not sure how long it can go on Ndombele appears to be like that great Sunday morning player who bosses it until he gets kicked then he goes and hides if he can toughen up a bit he could be unbelievable but only time will tell

It may not be the most exciting way to play, however, i think it is a very effective way to play if the players execute those crucial passes and score.

Dier: Agree dier probably not one of the true spurs family like winks and kane. He did want to leave for Mun.u after all. Probably got a year at most to prove himself. After summer TW, i doubt he will make match day squad when all are fit.

Ndom. Needs time to adjust to the physical contact of the prem which is probably 3 times higher than in ligue1. Like son who took a year to settle some players aren't used to the fouls and it shakes them up. Ndom gets clattered a lot and you can see he's just not used to it. I would be happy with 30min cameos for now, however, if he is going to make it in the prem then he will have to toughen up. I hope he does as he is a very good player.

Sanchez: I think San is currently spurs best defender. Toby has been at fault for more goals and his 1v1 defending is not as good as it used to be. San is improving as a defender and marks the fast players better than Toby. San's biggest problem is his passing which at times puts spurs under pressure. San is going to be 24 soon, he is only going to get better. Also he has tight hamstrings, must be painful? and still plays well, most games.

For me it’s not Moura’s fault that he can’t hold the ball up - there are plenty of Brazilians in strike roles that can’t. We should never set up with 3 at the back for me, we just don’t have the quality. Dele made the difference, a big one. Tanganga at CB...possibly, but be careful when we choose to try him out.

Dier a worry, as just not improving. Cumbersome.

    Ndom....wtf have we got there....

Sanchez....I must watch a different game, if he’s our best defender. For sure he can’t kick a ball, which is a bit of a worry - I’m relying on Ledley to turn him around....

Man City is out UCL for FFP violations. 5th place in this season will get in, therefore. COYS!!!

This is where we're at now, this is the football equivalent of holding a painting competition for the kids handing out awards to the best 3 and then giving 1 more out to the slow kid who for once got more on the paper than on themselves.

Keep that glass half full Felon! Everyone on here has agreed that we are not in a great place as a team at the moment and that champions league football next year is going to be a hard ask. So the fact that we may get a chance to qualify in 5th place if we can’t get up to 4th is great. Ideally we want to qualify by winning it or getting in the top 4 but if this Man City debacle helps get us in , then great

Lets beat Villa tomorrow and put some pressure on Chelsea so the 5th place becomes a moot point

It's false 'success' though , so the con continues that we're competitive (if we get it), just glosses over the sheer negligence and how far backwards we've gone.
We are becoming everything we took the piss out of scum for being.

    Embarrassing

Well it’s 3 more points after a struggle against a team that we should beat easily. Our defending at the moment is appalling especially from corners.. We waste chance after chance to put the game to bed which shows why the non purchase of a striker was a big mistake.I Hope Mourino was saving de celso for Wednesday because Dier really is not up to it anymore.Toby is fast becoming as slow as verts and I still don’t have any faith in Sanchez inDecision making.Surely Tanganga should now be central. One bonus was Winks having his best game for a long time.Just think the tight Levy turned down the chance to buy grealish for 6 million not long ago now he is probably worth 50 million.

It’s funny. I remember when we were interested and linked with him and most people on here were criticising the fact that the best we could try and sign was an English guy from the championship. How times change. Whinge about going after a cheap English guy from the championship and then whinge about not having got the cheap English guy from the championship !!

I'll be the 1st to admit that I wasn't overly enthusiastic when Grealish was our 1 and only attempted 'big' signing during that window.
Little did we know then what was to come that we'd sign nobody at all and then end up with relying on sulky Eriksen etc.

If you ask now I'd say yes over Lamela & Moura any day of the week and his all round game offers more than Alli aswell.

But wasn't it your great leader Levy who mucked it up anyway and then later on purchased what looks like a dud in Sessegnon instead for 3 times as much?

I also remember certain people saying we didn't need to sign anyone , don't need a back up Striker , can't improve what we have and that itl just get better if we just believe.......

“My great leader Levy”? Don’t think I have ever referenced Levy or the owners of the club in a post

So logic gives MOTM to Sonny, but the best performance was Grealish. The lad’s worked his nuts off all season for Villa and is more than capable of going to the Euros.

When him and Maddison were featuring in the Championship, they were stand out performers for me, Grealish a gifted player, Maddison not as good at beating his man, but has goals in him. The pair would have cost £30m......enough said. You just cannot pass up on talent like that, then go and spunk £70m on Sicknote.

With Lo Celso emerging as a talent, what a midfield duo him and Grealish would have been.....if only.

Yesterday....how to miss at least 6 glorious chances and struggle to beat them, despite Grealish’s heroics. Well done Sonny. Wednesday will be a good marker of our progress under JM.....memories of Bayern still haunt me.

    COYS

Voice of reason you never saw me posting thar I didn’t want a championship player in grealish. To anybody who watches football regularly could see the boy is a talent apart from Levy and Pochetino
