So 2-0 , Bergwijn scores on debut & N'Dombele with an assist.
That today was a JM special and it's been coming, slowly but surely were beginning to build a functioning side again.
It's far from perfect granted but without a striker and a Mish Mash squad I think JM is doing a good job.
4 points off 4th if we can put a run together now after having been so poor most of the season that would be great and give us a real chance of top 4.

    COYS!

great debut by bergwijn and a cameo from ndombele that says he must start.I would push son up middle and replace Moura with ndombele.Hope the nasty smell Rose was watching us defending with passion and a little luck after his snide comments after Newcastle match. We would have lost that game under Pochetino.I believe we have a star of the future in Tanganga if he is handled properly.Lets go into the break with a good win against Southampton

Wow it wasn't perfect but at least you can see the game plan and it would appear that in Lo Celso we have a player who can pass and tackle which is a rare commodity in a Spurs team for a while the bench is a lot stronger hopefully steal top 4 and bring in a few more in the summer still a few in the squad who need to go but its looking a lot better than it has for a while

I love the way JM reacts to decisions and coaches the team from the touchline, he seems to be very involved and like a 12th man playing his role from the touchline.

    Positives
    Team spirit,
you could see the players were giving it their all and playing for each other. Winks and Gazza reactions to hugo pen save was genuine and showed the group are happy.

Loco, i feel that he has emerged at the right time filing the role vacated by CE. Imo he is an upgrade on Ce.

Tanganga, has hardly put a foot wrong and even playing at LB is playing way better than rose was.

Playing to instructions, The players were told to play a low block and followed these instructions, in fact it was mistakes that gave city chances, and even when city did get close they were always under pressure.

Youth, 9 spurs players aged 24 or under only 3 players in the 18 over 30.

Competition for places in midfield, Spurs have 6 players fighting for 3 places, bringing on a player of Ndom to show what he can do keeps everyone on their toes knowing there is a quality player waiting to take their place.

Clinical finishing, The one area of the game were spurs were better than city is taking your chances. Stevie. B's, chest/volley finish was class and the build up to son's goal were Ndom skips round Rodri before ripping a pass into son who controls expertly before scoring via a deflection was rip your heart out stuff.

Overall: a good and deserved win. Coys

Well said, accurate and thoughtful observations after a tough but impressive result....we just need to hope other teams continue to be inconsistent around us
and we still have a chance of top 4. We have a really tough run of games coming up soon so will be interesting to see our position and performance levels after the next 5 league matches and after the Leipzig games.

If we can get to the summer, make most of the loan outs permanent and get rid of Wanyama and Dier then pick up 2 x FB, 1 x CDM and 1 x CF we have a really good squad with the potential to get through a season well.

Lo Celso continues to prove me wrong the more he plays which is brilliant as I was worried about his size and strength but he is looking better game by game.

If we can get Ndombele fit....man...he is world class for 20 mins at the moment...imagine if he can actually play 90 mins next season.

Dier is far from my favorite player however, like davies and winks they are part of the spurs family the type of players who will be at the club 10 years and not kick up a fuss. imo Dier has to revert to CB, if a DM is brought in the summer. He would be 4th choice behind toby, sanchez and tanganga. I think it;s time to sell sisoko as i don't see a role for him with the new arrivals. Foyth is another who has gone down the pecking order, tanganga and sess are younger and getting more game time. i think he will want to move in the summer.

Spurs are said to be after a Rb, competition for serge. A midfielder who according to some is more box to box than a Dm. And a striker who can play with and instead of Kane. If these players are of a high quality then the squad will be good to go. Coys

Cannot see another box to box we already have moussa gedson ndombele gio and also think winks is a better box to box than a no4 which is what's needed.

Imo an out an out Dm would balance the midfield selection better, however, the talk is that the player spurs are after is more box to box.

Winks and dele really divide the fan base, winks was really good at turning with ball under pressure before ankle injury. Considering he is playing in pain he put in a decent performance vs City. He will have to improve decision making and defensive awareness and needs to add a bit of composure to his game. Definitely good enough to be in the match day squad, however, spurs need to give him competition for his place, having a strong bench is the key to winning trophies. Coys

Was too slow for the job in his best days. Eric is not expected to recover to anything better than he was.

Another appalling first half and once a gain Moura looking like a parks player.Lloris back to his diabolical best setting up the equaliser,Dier and ndombele doesn’t work and we need a change of tactics post haste or we will get thumped .Southampton should be at least 3 up and have so much space to play in.If we turn it round it still won’t paper over the cracks.Dont we miss lecelsos drive

So another performance where we stank it out , were 2nd best all over the pitch yet scored 3 goals and won.
    Special one football.

Tbf this squad is appallingly unbalanced so to get anything out of it is remarkable really.

As I said if we turn it round it does not co ver up the cracks.Moura once again saves his place with a good goal but he still can’t hold the ball.I am beginning to wonder about ndombele who shows brilliant touches at times but looks out of his depths at others.Hate to say it but Ali made the difference and at least Fernandez showed pace. What a shame to see a good servant like vertongen lose his pace so drastically .Time for Tanganga to move to centre half with Davies and sessengon sharing left back

The old papering over cracks cliche the CL run papered over cracks beating City and Southampton as well what a load of rubbish what cracks are people on about the squad has been totally unbalanced for a while no back up striker for god knows how long can't count Janssen or Soldado there are a couple of similarities in the recent results and CL run the inability for the opposition to finish their chances and Spurs not giving up results are the important things at this time but hey ho what would you have to moan about keep enjoying the ride

Lucky Luciano you say papering over the cracks is a load of rubbish then go on to say the squad is unbalanced so are the recent lucky results due to the opponents inability to score covering the cracks or not??Long may our luck hold but I believe it won’t last unless we improve drastically.hopefully the inclusion of decelso and. Bergwijn and a gradual improvement of ndombele will give us the lift we need to be more progressive and take the pressure of the defence and with Davies now fit we can move Tanganga to centre half

Hate to say it but Ali made the difference? Strange comment.
Tanganga is good, however, who should he replace at CB? I think your over rating the impact davies will have, infact i think Tanganga defends against tricky wingers better than davies.

JM got it right they Southampton played better, however, the team with more heart and desire won the game.

On reflection if the players improve their passing and decision making especially in the final third, the Jm approach may well bring success.

Jm takes off Ndom and brings on Dele it was the other way round vs city with the same result quality player enters the scene and makes an impact.

The spurs bench is getting stronger Gedson looks good enough to make the match day squad. He has a bit of skill, tenacity and see's a pass.

Interesting Loco wanted to play even though he is not 100%. Loco will be the brains behind this team and he has heart as well, he will be the one who makes spurs tick. Coys
