A tough and in form opponent which has one or two players some would like to see at Spurs so a close match. Good clean sheet, Mourinho is improving the defense so hopefully money isn't spent on that and rather on a player (or two) who can deal with strong opposition defense.

I really want to see the end of the CE saga... But at least it seems that a good way of using it has been found: Let him come in once the opponent tires and then he'll get time on the ball for the killer pass and also his reluctance to get close to the opponents and/or to challenge for 50/50s might not get punished.

Mourinho has publicly spoken about a target player. I have been defending Levy so I supppose to be fair now I should say that unless Levy spends on a target player then I also might believe he is too careful with money. The midfield seems more eager to compete for second balls now, a big strong target player is a good option to have and can also play together with Kane (if needed/wanted) and anything to avoid having to qualify for Europa-league (as Wolves has done) with all the extra matches that entails would be good.
The question might be how much to spend on a big and strong target player, someone who is not expected to be a regular starter playing 90 minutes. & if a big strong target player comes in then I would not expect that player to score a lot of goals, it might be more about getting assists than goals.
Hopefully it is not something kept on ice until the CE-saga is resolved, get it done as I suspect that CE will be with Spurs until the end of the season and it is not impossible that he might not even have a new employer when his contract expires.

Not sure how much truth in it but rumours going round that alphabet who are some sort of owners/sister company are buying spurs out for 1billion. Apparently 4th business in the world to be values at a trillion pound. One can only wish but good things don't happen to us.

Alphabet own Google. If this were true I would imagine Spurs appearing top of every football-related Google search, naming rights to the new stadium being sold to a related shell company for hundreds of millions, no player in the world out of reach financially, silverware right around the corner....

....it was at this point I woke up very wet.

Football is about cycles spurs had the chance to win trophies when they were at their high point. Spurs are currently on a downward curve it started in the season spurs got 77pts. If spurs want C/l this season they will have to spend big in Jan Tw on a player who can instantly make a difference. It;s a gamble, however, the present squad minus Kane lacks goal scoring threat and has no chance of making top4.

Zaha and Deulofeu are players who could come to spurs and make an impact, would have to put in 60 - 80m, however, i think both are better than moura and would give spurs pace and skill both players dangerous in 1v1 and both live in london. With 14 games to go (after Norwich) spurs need a striker who will hit the ground running. if Wolves were willing to sell Jimenez, which i doubt again it would take 60-80m.
Lllorente till the end of the season ticks a lot of boxes he knows the lads and offers a different attacking options, he would be a stop gap giving Spurs time until the summer. Jm will play to his skill set more than Mp and he was the one who Ajax couldn't play in spurs great come back win.

  5. Okay enough of the dross...

Expectations have clearly lowered these last few seasons. Strange since a year or two back Spurs never had it so good in their history.. win percentage wise that is.. yet the malcontents still waffled on. Now the malaise has truly set in the bar has most definitely lowered for all and some... amusing.

So what’s happened to Spurs since the heights of 16/17? Why the substantial drop off since the beginning of 2019 with pretty much the same squad? A few reasons... but the most obvious? Dembele. Absolute world class midfielder not remotely replaced (Ndombele has a chance to do so but rarely ever on the pitch).

Tottenham midfield is ultra lite... even with Sissoko’s emergence/resurgence. There’s not a player among them capable of dominating possession and the greater reliance on Winks the more evident this becomes.

The last year under Poch? Spurs became a counter attacking team... no different to what Mourinho now attempts to offer. Perhaps results are indeed all that matters.. had Spurs won the CL that night against a Liverpool team absolutely ripe for the taking then who could argue? but my God is it dross to watch.

The golden age has passed... trophy less for sure... but it will endure nevertheless with the memory of some truly dominant football on a weekly basis for a number of years. Will there be a renaissance? No... not with this squad. The defence is past it... the midfield seriously lacks class. Can they jag a domestic trophy? Yes... but seriously who gives a f#*k? The football absolutely sucks.

Are you the Ghost of Jose, or just Jose in disguise........all of what you say rings true to me.

When you go back to the point in the journey of this team and Pochettino as their manager, the key moment was when he decided to play HK in the CL final - probably his single biggest mistake in his time at the Club. We needed pace he offered a man just back from yet another long term injury. Whatever you think about Moura, he was able to turn around a dead rubber in a few blinks of the eye.

This term, with some big injuries, shirkers and wantaways it’s been fecking shite, as you quite rightly point out. Will we buy a striker - well it’s the 21st Jan and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to work out that it’s NO. I’ve lost track of how many transfer windows I’ve tracked only to be let down by DL/MP/Whoever makes the fecking decisions at this club.

So we’ve employed Jose.....does he have the balls to tell the Chairman he needs a striker NOW.....to answer that you need to know JM - as in Chairman pays him £15m per season, at what stage does the real Jose says “unless you support me” .....not yet, so we’ve no fecking chance of seeing any sensible additions to the squad and I will continue to give my tickets away to the kids, as the football “sucks”.......I’ve heard that somewhere today......

    Another one :)

Should a player be sold at his peak or after?
If all players are sold at their peak then it might not be possible to compete for trophies and someone will complain about supporting a selling club.
If sold after their peaks then someone will complain about supporting a team with aging players.

Mobility and size are often linked. The players with big physical presence are often not very mobile and the mobile players are often not very big.
& with the bigger midfield players then it seems to happen that the defending is done deep which in turn leads to the possibility of scoring on counter-attacks.
Is the option of having fast attackers capable of scoring on a counter-attack a bad option to have?

Pick your poison.... Or pick something and be happy with the choice.

Pochettino mustered 2 good seasons out of 5 & a CL run that papered over the downward slump from 16/17, people look back so rose tinted we weren't some sort of dominant all footballing side.
Loads of our games were won on HK or Son pulling something out of nothing because the play was so slow and predictable.
A few of us constantly pointing to the lack of pace in the side , the lack of width and laboured safe passing.

The whole reason we are where we are now is because Poch became highly predictable and too stubborn in his beliefs despite what was translating on the pitch.
Couple that with the negligence of buying No1 for 2 windows and then making the odd acquisition that just wasn't good enough.
And that's where we find ourselves today.

As I keep having to say it's gonna take a complete rebuild over numerous windows now to get back to where we were.
Could've all been avoided but while some of us were calling for signings and questioning the club's non existent transfer policy or ambition others were out in force telling us all we should be enjoying rides, that we couldn't and didn't need to improve and we should just support the club who knew what they were doing.

If they knew what they were doing and had it all in check then can these people explain the mess it left us in???

I would play youth (as I've said before) and forget about top 6 this season.
Clear out the old guard and bring in the new.
..... and the first ones to replace would be our scouts!!.... clearly getting money for nothing

If we carry on as we are and do finish top 6 it won't be because we are better than other teams.... more that they have been worse than us against more teams

And what the feck is going on with CE?? .... sell him for £8m now... or nothing in the summer!?!?
sorry DL.. you've made your bed....just let him go

We need a rebuild....with even possibly Kane & Alli going to bring in funds.....

The list is too long of players that need replacing
The list of players to keep you can probably count on one hand.... which says it all

'Arry has been flogged to death for a couple of seasons now, playing at times when patently unfit, the CL Final a blinding example - this time I'd like to see him left out 'til 20/21 starts and as we're surely out of contention for a CL place and Saturday at Southampton will probably end this year's FA Cup "run", if that's what it is, forget about the Thursday League too and write this whole wretched season off. On outgoing transfers, get what we can for, and shot of, Eriksen ASAP, 'cos he's obviously going somewhere and his value is dropping every day 'til 31 January and he'll be worth SFA on 1 February. Take offers for Dele too, he's living on his first 18 months at the Lane, offers little or nothing of any substance any longer and, to me, looks like he'd rather be somewhere else. We've got a few youngsters - Oliver Skipp & Troy Parrott among them who may or may not be good enough but if they don't get a shot we won't know. Radical calls possibly, and I'll take whatever stick comes my way for it, but I'm just p*ssed seeing what's happening.

I believe Llorente is what Spurs will end up with. Loan till season's end. Target striker. Adebayor and Soldado still playing. Torres retired past summer, though. Mbappe ain't coming. So, there we have it...

Is any body else sick of the pundits saying spurs will find it difficult to sign a striker because Kane when fit will be straight back in team. Why??? He should have to fight for his place like anybody else and if we signed anyone decent why not play two strikers as you can’t say Moura has set the place alight as a striker or can’t Mourino change formations

Some news outlets are saying that some of the senior players are already fed up with the training sessions under Mourino as they are all based on long ball. They also object to the way he slated ndombele about his fitness.I was all for him replacing pochetino and still believe pochetino had run his course but is the problems he had at United down to him and not the players if so have we jumped out of the fire into the frying pan.I fully expected Mourino to be strong enough to convince Levy about what we need but I think he has been surprised how far back poch and levy had allowed things to go.Dont be surprised if he is gone at end of season as he doesn’t need the money or hassle.I truly feel for our future at the moment unless we get a buyer to rid us of the current regime

Long ball is used by inferior teams unable to overcome fighting in the middle of the pitch. Spurs are such a team currently. Poch also used Toby's ability to pass long accurately. They're just whining, a few wins will change it. Mou jumping on players suggests the desperation on the gaffer part. I like that. Anger does wonders in sport, but it seems also to suggest that no help is coming this window. Players dissatisfactions with Mourinho come from only one source - Rose. Newcastle gossiped to make an offer this window, Rose wanted to "go north". It's time to say goodbye and thank you for 10 years in lillywhite.
Kane will be sold. Mou needs a replacement, not just a compliment.

Sad match and sad victory against a weak Norwich. We cannot remember many positive things from this match. The defensive problems are always the same with a blatant lack of organization and fighting spirit 25 meters from goal. Offensively, it's not great either. Son is in lack of confidence, Dele always loses too many balls. At least he scored and assist Son to scored but other than that, nothing ... Lucas does not play his position and it shows. Two players deserve a special mention because they were good ... Aurier and especially Lo Celso who was clearly the man of the match. What I dislike most with Mourinho is Alderweireld's desire to play long every time ... And how can you play the watch in the 88th minute when there are 8 left? He still has a lot of work!

I suppose a win is a win but as entertainment goes this was non existent. Why does Mourino persist with Moura at centre forward .His last few games have been pathetic.Hopefully the rumours about a Brazilian striker being signed are true if not let Son play down the middle and load the midfield. One bright spark was Celso who looks a player and shows bottle .This is the same player Pochetino said the would take 2 years to settle.Hopefully Ericson will be gone this week because the atmosphere now when he comes on is not good and does the team no favours.A real shame because he was a star for a couple of years and I think he will find it hard to recapture that form agin

Have Spurs changed their manager? Really? Against Norwich it was all Pochettino's football. There was high pressing back in the tactic. We had wingers switching sides and Dele playing false number 9. We even had a vintage Dembele on the pitch. He wore number 18 with LoCelso on its back. That was how Spurs played when Kane was injured before. Dele and Son scored. It should have been 2:0, but Sessegnon left his mark.
Mourinho is either genius able to figure and play any script, or he just gave up and let the boys do what they know. I agree, it looked kind of ugly, but result is good. COYS!!!

So many rumours about a striker being on spurs radar but all will ask over the top prices and we all know levy won’t pay so we finish up without a striker for rest of season or the cheap imitation like Benteke.Meanwhile Chelsea and united chase Cavani and will pay if he wants to come to the premiership although I suspect he will go for the easy option of la Liga.Rumour says we are chasing Morelos but this is levy trying to make out he is serious as Rangers would not consider if they want to keep their supporters on side.
