Spurporter what years did spurs rule the league I suspect your too young to remember the sixties which was the last time we ruled the league. When Ferguson was manager of united they didn’t do the norm according to you and fall apart they kept investing to keep the team at the top.Levy unfortunately is a top executive in the business sector but not in the football sense and I don’t think pochetino will ever be a top european coach although I seem to remember you praising him from the rooftops not that long ago

If not Pochettino, then who will be that next top coach? I do not see any, do you? The rulers of the league are top 4 clubs. Spurs were as high as 2nd ones and consistently among the best 4, whilst other historically top clubs were down the toilet or just out of it during same time. Only 3 clubs in EPL maintained the dynasty with respect to top 4. To demand the same from Spurs is unreasonable. From its acquisition in 2010, it took LFC management 10 years to win the EPL. Sales of Suarez and Coutinho did help, but the most important move was signing of Klopp as their manager. LFC has had a better management and the coach, they have more attractive wage structure. They are by far ahead of Spurs as a club (although not as a team, we should have won the Final!). In that regard, both Levy and Pochettino, whilst not as good, were quite adequate for Spurs and by all means did a great job under the circumstances. Levy built the stadium, whilst Abramovish failed with Stamford Bridge upgrade. MCFC were lucky to get the stadium from Manchester City for free, they just removed the running tracks around the pitch and built the separate Track and Field venue to accommodate Olympians. Anfield remains undersized for the top club. Arsenal have the great venue, yet they are worse than Spurs in standings.. If Arteta leapfrogs Mou, I will join you in calls for Mourinho head, but no sooner than that.

By no9 I assume he means false 9? There’s plenty of formations we could look at given the fact Kane is the only player capable of dropping deep?

Yet again my I/T skills let me down! Anyway, Pochettino's legacy appears to have crumbled within weeks of his long-overdue departure, and I'll be amazed if he makes a better fist of any future 'bigger' job he wangles. His much-vaunted promotion of youth has produced Winks and bugger-all else, and almost all his transfers have been more or less duds, hence the over-reliance on the same group of players who've been flogged to exhaustion, season after season. So far as I'm concerned, Poch's 'success' was as much about Kane's goals as AVB's one goodish season was about Bale's, and I reckon he's about as likely to be Europe's next top coach as I am. As for Mourinho, I don't think he realised quite how big a mess he was taking-on, and getting top four this year would rank with raising Lazarus from the dead, or parting the Red Sea - I can hardly wait to witness it!

Evidently, there is no legacy in football. Player or coach, you are as good as your last few games. Serial winner or not.
Except for Dele, Lucas and Son, Poch signings were unremarkable, agree, although Wanyama and Sissoko may be viewed as solid. Sanchez is above solid. Besides Winks, who is very important for what Southgate plays, Bentaleb, who was brought in by MP, currently with Schalke in Germany, possesses the skill set Mou, perhaps, will be looking for in the next window. Sigurdsson is another player that should have been kept. Foyth has a good future, but Mou is uneasy with kids.
I think the Spurs scouting was poor in general after Paul Mitchell departure. Now Leipzig employs Mitchell, he put them on the football map, every club in Europe want Leipzig players. Poch was not a Guardiola like scout. Neither is Mourinho, but Mou knows what he want and do not doubt himself as much as MP was. He will get mature performers for a short time success. God help him.

    Sorry when was this again???

Your not seriously saying we were ruling the league ??? Come on

Bentaleb was a main feature in Sherwood's side along with Mason nothing to do with Poch.

Poch signed 27 players over 5ish seasons and how many of them worked out how long are we going to regurgitate the old line they are young and full of potential as for our policy of one out before any in has left us up **** creek with a ageing unbalanced squad devoid of belief and confidence it's sad to see and horrific to watch

Sorry Jesper, not been logged on for a while. For me I thought that with the arrival of a supposed box to box player, Ndombele, alongside his countryman Sissoko, a 4-2-3-1 would have worked best....
But we've had a real rag bag at the back, jury is out on Ndombele, we can't keep the front 4 together to build any understanding, and now we're robbed of H and Moussa for an extended period.

And I'm not sure JM has the patience to sort it, given the lack of new signings in January....it's going to be a long winter...……….

Just not sure I can name 11 players in our squad who are way ahead of the rest.

Can I name 5...let me think....

Who were then? Oh, I know your answer: Leicester City
I think you mistaken Bentaleb with Sandro or Paulinho. Tim was charged with playing the Beatles we bought after Elvis was sold. Kane was introduced by Sherwood, but Kane considers himself a MP product. I would predict Kane will be sold in the summer. To whatever club hires Poch.

Neither can I. That is why I am saying we need a rebuild. Is that Mou was hired for? He can rebuild with proven veterans, I have no doubt. But they will be as good as we now employ.

No Bentaleb made his debut for spurs 2013 coinciding with Sherwood's appointment as caretaker manager

I wouldn't say anyone has "ruled" but you certainly can't rule something you've never been top dog at

I am sure he will, it is his major forte, he loses patience only with people, not with tactical options. Levy will buy whomever JM is interested in, even in January. He will fully replicate Woodward, whilst JM will reciprocate by not asking for another Pogba.

I reckon the two seasons (2015-2017) when we managed the highest aggregate points total in the PL entitle us to be the pretenders (Bonnie Prince Charlie-type, not 'Brass in Pocket', leather-clad variety), but there are no trophies for being runners-up, either in the PL or CL, and it shows how desperate things are that we are already looking back on the 'nearly' days with the nostalgia other supporters reserve for actual silverware - we've got our Spurs back, and no mistake!

It's incredible , we have a stock pile of deadwood , uninterested , sub standard & perennially injured players.
Add to that the complete lack of depth or balance to the squad.
A squad that's been completely neglected and can barely muster a watchable performance between them.

And yet here we are again laying dormant doing nothing like it's not really happening and there's nothing to see here.

Yet for every sane fan at spurs you've got these perversely failure and neglect loving/championing socially inept bed wetters that actively support this regime.

This never ending cycle of shambles to maybe to nearly back to shambles with absolutely no time or target end game while everyone is just supposed to 'support the club' (fund, accept and shut up).

    Wasn't this Stadium to-
    Level the playing field?
    The game changer?

    The Con!

Things are not the way we wanted at the moment. It's frustrating. A new coach cannot change things immediately. Neither can a new stadium level the playing field like a magic wand. Levy is not perfect and so are a lot of CEOs out there. Sometimes, you take one step forward, two steps backwards before progressing again. We have at least replaced Pochettino to start with. Hope there will be some signings in January to tackle urgent issues.

When I see a 4-2-3-1 formation then I see only one box to box midfielder, Dele might be the first choice for that (for now).
Sissoko is an interesting enigma, when I see him then it seems that when he plays on instinct then he can be great but when he has time to think then it seems he overthinks and what he tries to do goes wrong.

Anyone noticed today that Levy is trying to get decelso on a cut price deal today. What is wrong with this man negotiating a cut price for someone who is yet to convince the manager instead of trying to buy someone who we desperately need ie a defensive midfield and two defenders at least. The greats of the past like like Bill Nich Danny Blanchflower Dave Mackay Jimmy Greaves Glen Hoddle OssieArdilles etc deserve to have their club run by a man who is interested in the football not just profit.I believe he tries to live up to the reputation given to him by the pressure
