5 wins from 7 Pl games at a rate of more than 2ppg, scoring 16 goals is a lot better than what was happening under MP. When looking at the big picture JM has got spurs winning again and picking up points at a decent rate. Again when looking at the big picture JM inherited a squad with lots of problems, however, since he has been in charge the vibes, (except for rose) has been good. Ce and verts will be able to talk with other clubs in Jan, so i think both will leave in the summer, however, Jm has used them both to help spurs win points.
The one problem i had with the playing style is that spurs didn't play out from the back, yesterday 2nd half spurs started to pass more from the back and looked a lot better. I think JM is taking time to put together a playing style working on one aspect at a time.
Spurs need an athletic Dm who knows the role this player alone would enhance the other players and make spurs a better team. COys

    Merry Christmas all .
Theres been some inevitable changes since I've last been here , it was coming in fairness . There were some great times under Poch , ultimately we never managed to get over the final hurdle with him but what he achieved under very strange & difficult circumstances shouldn't be forgotten or underestimated . Overall he did a super job i.m.o , not perfect by any means but really good overall . But let's be honest here , it was certainly gone stale over the whole of 2019 . We got away with it for large periods in terms of results but the performances were telling a different story . Why did this happen tho , well i.m.o it's complicated , there's a multitude of reasons for it , a lot were predicted here and some weren't but the last word from me on it is , no-one involved were blameless from owners to management to players , they all played a part and as is the way in football , the buck always stops with the management . A change was needed for everyone in the end and again i.m.o the manager knew this and was ready for it himself .

We'll i have to be honest , I ****ing detest Mourinho and his ways . He's a horrible **** and I won't be changing my mind on that just because he's now our gaffer . I wasn't expecting any miracles when he came in , there's too many deep rooted problems here at the moment for that but at least results have improved . The performances have been horrific for the most part tho and that won't be changing anytime soon by the looks of it . I don't expect him to be here too long , all evidence would suggest that's just the norm with him so hopefully it goes ok and at the very least he leaves us in a better place then when he found us . I won't be too active around here while he's in charge because I feel I won't be able to give a fair assessment given my hatred for the man .

Take care everyone , all the best for the new year , and I hope it goes well regarding the football regardless of the prick in charge . C.O.Y.S .....

So....what do I really make of where we are at.

After 19 games we have 29 points. Last season 45 points.

    We've gone 5-0-2 for 15 points, 16 goals, but 8 conceded

Last term we couldn't beat the top teams. No change there.

Are we better under Jose, I guess we are, but despite all his worldly experience, he couldn't set us up right against Chelski, or change it quick enough.

We made basic errors against Manure and Chelski, or rather Aurier and Gazza did. Bottom line - they're not good enough.

We need too many players to materially change the squad short term, and it remains to be seen if DL will change the habits of a lifetime and support JM with January signings.

So.... what do I really make of where we are at - hang onto your hats, it's going to be a rocky ride.

We are in a similar situation to when Poch took over (worse if u consider league position and results) Pochs 1st season with us was turgid if no 1 remembers we ambled our way to 5th spot with a shocking defence and misfiring attack, if anything Pochettino at least had a young side with a lot of potential in it.
The squad has been badly neglected and between Levy & Pochs antics they managed to not only not improve on a good spine/formula but cause some real unrest in the camp.
People need to realise and seriously evaluate what Mourinho has took on here, it's a serious rebuild needed which will only come with time and fresh blood.
What have we had so far some good performances, some flat, some poor it can't be turned around in 6 games and it preposterous for fans to be expecting anything else at the moment.
What and the only thing that needs to be taken into account is that we can win away now, were not getting beat by lesser teams we've gone from being 14th n not a hope in hell of making top4 to being well within a shout.
Amazingly Poch was seemingly to be offered a never ending no time limited learning curve yet JMs been in for 6 games and people are agitating about him it's incredible it really is.
As you know il be the first to call things out when they're warranted but I'm gonna save my judgement for end of season and also after summer window before I start hounding out JM and what's going on.
What I see so far is a team aiming to get forward and beat the opposition which is light years ahead of the absolute tosh Poch was serving up every week B4 he got the chop. We are winning ugly with a neglected unbalanced limited squad , get some out and some quality in then see how we are doing.
Jeez I never thought I'd be the 1 calling for patience but come on 6 games FFS????

I've been in the complainer's camp, I've aired my continuing dislike for Mourinho and been well p*ssed at a couple of the performances but I'm prepared to give him time. Only thing is he doesn't usually hang about too long and whatever surgery is needed may take longer than he will be in post. So it'll be Square One time again - that's what frustrates me so much.

Got to agree with felon. Put your sentiment to one side and give the man some credit for the turn around in results and performances tbf. On poch it was a simple story of every manager having a time cycle in each job. Only time managers get longer than that are if they are constantly given funds to refresh, replenish and in fergusons case rebuild. Poch was granted that but however when given money he invariably failed. His summer signings point in case.

I have never hated Mourinho as passionately as some in here. I was and still am afraid that his tenure will end up in tears, like it has for other clubs. But I wouldn't question his ability to manage. Yet, I have to disagree with Felon82: Mou is not here for a rebuild. He is here to keep the wantaways in. Toby was sort of easier case, Vert I guess will follow given his age, whilst Eriksen should be his true target. As someone who spent time in Spain, JM can picture CE situation of him being on the bench at RM. Or moving to the shtty squad at MUFC, he was there as well. If Eriksen is retained, then only complimentary performers would need to be acquired. (G, LFB, RFB, etc.). That will be possible to do in up coming windows.
JM says he knows CE plans, but wont tell. I like that development.

If Ce was staying why hasn't he signed a new contract with Spurs? In a weeks time his agents are free to agree terms with any club that wants him and i am sure there will be a few takers.
Ce is a decent player, however, he is way overrated and not even close to KDB who is the real deal.

The priority for me is to sort out the central midfield, doing so might stop the pressure on the defense and reducing the pressure on the defense should hopefully reduce the number of mistakes in the defense.

The midfielders are now often defending so deep that they are not doing their job. The midfield should let the defense be the last line of defense and not try to do the job of the defense. If the midfield cannot or will not get close to the opposition midfield then sooner or later the pressure will tell and either a killer pass will be made by the opposition or a defender will make a mistake.
When I see some midfielders always chasing the ball but never closing down their man then I just want to shout at the tv. Some pundits say it is about being outnumbered in the midfield, for me I say it is about players not covering their man in the hope that they can run faster than a ball can be passed. Against lesser opposition then maybe that can happen, against average/good teams then no - they cannot run faster than the ball can be passed.

With all the suspensions then maybe something new can be tried, I seem to remember Rose playing once as a DM. Might be worth a try, he can tackle, he plays with aggression and he's not good enough for LB but he might be able to do a high intensity job as DM. I believe he might do better than Dier in DM, Dier has better long-range passing but is not mobile enough. I'd rather see some lighter players in DM playing like Kante, Ndidi and the like.
As is then it looks like some bullies are playing keep ball and the Spurs midfield are afraid to get close to their bullies and the result is that the midfield is bypassed, overun and generally looking helpless.

RE.. Rose. Jose don't put square pegs in round holes it don't work. He keeps everything very simplistic and gives players 1v1 accountability. That's how he succeeds. When they fail to meet standards they throw the toys out.

Well not a lot to be said really rescued a point that was barely deserved , how pukis goal was deemed offside il never know.
It's painfully obvious we need investment in the playing personnel badly.

At last Mourino has voiced his concerns about the defensive errors we make match after match a and it was very clear he is frustrated with it.dDoes any other team in the top 6 make so many juvenile errors. Two goals away at Norwich should be 3 points.I wanted Moura on at half time but why can he not hold the ball up and when will Deli stop trying the impossible flicks that come to nothing.Ndombele head and shoulders over Winks and Dier and Decelso lookss promising if given time.I believe Sessengon should be left back not midfield and Foyth is not ready to play centre half and should be back up at right back.Maybe we can get Norwich to sell us their fight back

I see we have recalled Clarke from loan at Leeds and even more surprising Carter Vickers from Stoke where he must have been inspiring as they are in bottom 3 of the championship.Surely we have enough bad centre halves already.

Such a painful watch for me today.

Dele poor, chances missed, just too slow. CE....MOTM - really. He may have had lots of touches, but even I can pass it backwards all the time. Ok he scored - a true collectors item that.

Foyth, Aurier - just not good enough. We're likely having to stick with the latter, Sanchez, Toby, Sess, back 4, or Toby & Verts as CB's.

Midfield is just a bleeding mess. Ok so suspensions don't help, but that Juse the mix of DM and attacking MF will be key to our chances of success this season.

As for 3 at the back - we just can't play that way, too risky with our level of players. Period.

It's just awful, almost impossible to watch. The nearly laughable, sub-schoolboy, error-strewn performances from some of those players at times, not just today, defies belief. Aurier & Foyth - no less than horrific, Moura flitting in and out with little product, N'dombele & Lo Celso just not convincing (yet and I'm thinking will they ever be), Dele fannying about with circus tricks again. I'm not sure if Sissoko or Winks would have been any improvement had they been available against Norwich but they surely couldn't have been as poor. The only bright spot - and I'm saying bright in an attempt to gloss it - in a gloom-laden evening was that we didn't get beaten and somehow scraped a point. Top Four? We're having a laugh surely.

Foyth and Aurier cannot defend, pass or cross...
Please can someone explain how Eriksen is allowed to take corners? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one above knee height at the front post.
Lo Celso is not the player we need in midfield, hopefully we can get a refund.
Sessignon needs to go on loan and learn to cross after his impressive runs down the line instead of stopping and turning back.
Gazzaniga should have done better with the shot....great stand in keeper but that’s about it

I actually liked Foyth. I think he was fouled on the first goal conceded. I agree the proper G would have made a save and no one would blame the Argentinian for the turnover. He was above average otherwise, IMO.
There were no reasons for JM to change formation for the second period. It did not bring anything positive upfront, as both our goals were scored from dead balls. I would not be as negative, it was a fair away tie result against the team that fights for its PL life and killed better teams than we are earlier in the season.
Spurs need a top 4 goalkeeper. I was advocating that when Lloris was not out. That is the best way to improve the defense. Do it this window.
