No comments. Mou tries to prove me right. Just came short of saying Spurs have the squad that is better than Liverpool. I am sure he might have said so, should anyone have asked to compare. Anyway, even, if Pool may have a slightly better players, Spurs, obviously, have a by far better manager than Reds, based on list of trophies Mourinho won in the past, right?. He-he. Got to love the man... COYS!!!

Think dier needs to be assessed from now until January to see if he discovers his form of 2 yrs ago when he was a corner stone of our midfield and also touted adms a future England captain. Indeed mourinho was priced out of a move for dier such was his importance. I think right bk is a more important area to be looked at firstly. I do agree on a wide attacker and a CB long term but I'd imagine that will be in the summer window.

Yes,Dier was one of the first on the team sheet with Kane and alds for a while and was one of my favourite players
However , it coincided with Wanyama coming to spurs that his form fell off, not sure if this was because Wanyama had a purple patch and it hit Diers confidence but now the way he plays is more like Sissoko version 1, his passes are often astray and he seems to have an idea in his head but can’t execute it.
Hope he finds it again because I always thought he could be a leader on the pitch with his subtle aggression as well, sort of our own Roy Keane!

Looking at the squad spurs have decent players who excel at playing in central areas. AM :dele, locelso.
Cm: Tanguy, winks. I do think that dier at best is a squad player and think a top Dm with dier as back up would give spurs 6 decent/good central midfield options.
I think CE, Wanyama and Lamela should all be sold for whatever spurs can get in Jan and the money raised used to buy a top draw DM and a wide attacker to replace the always injured Lamela, even recalling clarke from loan might be an option.

I am gonna give the defence till the summer before making a decision on fb's. I think MP's style of play ruins Fb's and know JM as he has already done with serge, will give players tasks more suited to their ability.

With verts and toby both in last year who knows how many cb's spurs will need it looks like at least one new cb in over next two windows.

The weakest area that I see is that there are few fast attacking wide-players in the squad. Possibly Sessegnon can cover if Son or Moura gets injured. For the rest then I am of the opinion to wait until Mourinho has had a few more matches to evaluate and if there is an urgent need then maybe look to strengthen in January. I don't see an urgent need just yet so for me then I wouldn't be too disappointed if there are no big name signings in January.

True, there are a couple of players who might need to be offloaded but if there are no takers or if the player has decided to stay and run out the contract then there is not much that can be done. A couple of players who I might prefer were to be in other clubs did get recent contract extensions and might be difficult to sell.

In January (or when is Lloris fit?) then it might need to be decided who is the number 1 GK at Spurs. Depending on that decision then maybe one GK might be sold.

Don't think we can contemplate strengthen the front line until the defensive third is sorted in particular right back. Rose will get a chance tonight to prove if he's up to the task at left back. After that the conundrum at centre half will need to be put right. Personally I think dier is more than capable at DM but he needs to win over the majority of fans I guess. A third attacker will be a summer move I'd imagine.

I was quick to criticise pochetino for his team selection so I will also do it for Mourino .2 -0 down already at home and the whole team have been atrocious.. Dier off and Ericson on why not ndombele??as I talk we have just been gifted a goal from nowhere. Let’s see if Mourino has more nous to to get them going in the second.why is Rose playing instead of sessengon or vertonganI have already said I’m glad Mourino has come but can’t see the blind faith in Dier and Ericson. If you are playing Sanchez and aldy at centre back why not Vertongan At left back which I think is his best position.

Well would that have happened under poch I think not. But we still need to work on the back four I just cannot see Rose and we do have sessengon and vertongan who can play left side.aWhat a difference with Aurier under Mourino he looks a proper full back at last. Would poch ever have made a substitution after 25 mins .NO WAY. I must give credit to Ericson in second half looking like a real player again

I hope and believe that Mourinho will make the defence stronger, I fear that some players who are exciting to watch might become less exciting to watch - so for me I do not see an immediate need for reinforcements at the back other than possibly someone to cover for Davies. Or maybe not, depending on if Rose can recover his form or if Sessegnon is ready to step up.

The Spurs that showed up to play the Greeks were exactly the 14th place atrocious group Poch was fired for. We were down 0-2 within 20 min. That was not at all surprising. What was surprising was the fact that Mourinho did exactly what Poch have done and brought in Eriksen. The shocking part was he did it on 22nd minute. To add to that, Mou took out Dier, his favorite, instead of Winks or Sanchez. Eriksen entrance switched formation to 4-1-4-1, but no one got confused and new formation worked fine. Only after our 4th goal the more conservative 4231 was restored when Dele was replaced with Sissoco.
    MOM was... yes, Aurier. COYS!!!

Like Preed i would have liked tanguy to have come on before CE, however, JM seems to be going with the players he knows, it's early days and the cream will rise to the top, i am hoping that Tanguy and locelso will get more game time in the future.
The bench looked quite strong maybe lacking only a striker, i would have thought that parrot should be good enough for the bench.

Still think spurs need a top class Dm asap (Jan).Coys.

Spurporter poch has gone so don’t try to justify him by saying he would have done what Mourino did by subbing after 22 minutes. Pochetino only subbed when the game was in last ten minutes.Dont you think it took guts to sub that early and in some ways admit you got team selection wrong something you would never see from pochetino.Man up and support the new manager until he starts losing on the regular basis that had become the norm with poshetino.Did you notice the passion on the touch line which has been missing for a long time

I do. My post is a praise, not a criticism. Poch admittedly could not do in-game management. Now, how did Mou know CE will be at his best performance this season? I think he gambled and won.

For me Rose falls short of what is needed as a defender and is past his best, and I'd like to see Sessengnon and Jan deployed in that slot - derisking the Davies long term ankle injury. We've Ndombele and Lo Celso to come through, as long as the Humble One fancies them.

Will CE turn up - let's see. Use sparingly otherwise, given he could be gone in a month.

Dier looks leggy and slow to me, the legacy of the injuries and illness no doubt, so we will see if he can recover a first team regular start.

Skipper - leave it with H. Goalie - keep Gazza as a starter for me. Big games ahead will show how good JM is.....

    May have gone like this

« You want to leave? Here is your chance to show Europe’s big guns what you can do- if you screw up you won’t get many other chances to show them and your dream of Real Madrid etc is over! »

fair play , he stepped up

i think there is no chance of him changing his mind so I’d like us to concentrate on Lo Celso instead now but good to have an in form CE available

It will also be good to give free kicks to someone else. He is known as being brilliant but I think he had a purple patch 3 years ago when a lot of free kicks on the edge , he was scoring. But for a while now, it’s pretty much a given that it will be really close but not in! (His ones where he is just delivering are still good like for Kane’s header)
I’m sure Son or Kane would have liked to have had a go for the one on the edge of the box

According to the natives the players seem to be happy with the new training methods which proves that they had started to not listen to pochetino. Also Moura has admitted he prefers to play wide not central a position he rarely played under pochetino. It appears that the training is more technical and not just physical effort.Lets hope he sorts the back four and gives sessengon a chance to prove himself.

The back four need better protection from the two in front of them, look at the goals conceded with Olyp at least one was caused by the mid not protecting the defence.
JM is putting players in positions that suit their skill set, sisoko is now only being deployed as a RM/RW which suits his skill set. Same with all the other players round pegs in round holes. Coys

Jm says sess, present skill set means he will be used mainly in Lw/ Lm position. Such clarity must be helping the players focus on their specific role within the team. Coys
