I know a manager is supposed to boost his players but surely it’s taking it to ridiculous heights when pochetino today says thar Ericson is still as good as when we bought him.He says that he is pleased with his contribution .Surely even levy must know that this is bull and should make him think about his suitability to manage the team any longer. At present Ericson can’t even pass to his own team and defensively is a liability. Please don’t play him tonight. We won easily at home but this team are a different proposition at home and last year beat Liverpool in the group stages

You're right, CE is out of his best by far. I can speculate he may still sign with Spurs and Poch just attempts to please him in order to keep that possibility. You also cannot make one to get better whilst on the bench.

I watch every Spurs match. The way we are playing now, I have problem watching weekday matches 'cause I have problem staying awake! The weekday matches are played at 3 am and now 4 am after daylight savings at my time zone.

Think I will give tonight's match a miss. Might regret staying up.

Spurporter are you seriously saying that pochetino is playing Ericson and praising him to try and get him to sign a new contract??If so you have finally hit the nail on the head as why he is no longer fit to manage this club.I do believe that Ericson on current form will struggle to find a top team even on a free as his performances will not have impressed any of the big boys.Maybe poch is trying to be clever with his remarks so we can get a fee in january

That possible too. Anyway you look, Poch tries to play a manger, although he said that he is just a coach that is kept in the dark by Daniel. All of them more or less use the deception off the pitch. It is the part of the game, I guess. But I would not disagree , if it was called a lie. So, consider Poch just lied about CE.

Makes a lot of sense Thomas, not worth losing sleep over what we're offering at present.

Just a warning about tonight .I have just watched the under19s lose to red star under19s 2-0 after we beat them at home 2 weeks ago 9-2.All the posts on here tend rightly to be about the 1st team but I am interested how we are developing our youngsters and after today I am very worried.I could not see one player who looked a future 1st teamer.Parrot is with the 1st team.We are coached by Ryan mason who looked like a poch clone on the touch line and made subs when the game had gone. I thought pochetino was renowned for the development of young talent but he needs a lesson from Chelsea how it’s done. The future looks bleak and posh stadium or not youngsters won’t want to come to us knowing they can earn more in someone else’s reserves.By the way poch son was a late sub!!

Rose instead of Davies Dier at centre half you could not make it up if you tried for a must win game.

I have given the team enough stick this year so it’s nice to report a much better performance .I am not getting carried away because there were still worrying times in defence and Ericson still gave the ball away more than anybody.I believe we have found a player in de celso who was good all night and should be one of the first names on the team sheet in future.Sessengon produced more good balls in 15 minutes than Ali in the whole game and should now be starting either left side or left full backs.I hope that pochetino picks the same eleven for Saturday though I can’t see him not tinkering .

Didn’t see the game but it sounds like all the new boys made an impact. Still a bit of a worry about the defence but maybe if we can base it around this team moving forward we could be in good shape. With winks, Moura and Lamela to sub in

unless there is a serious change of idea with a chance of CE staying then he should be on the bench moving forwards.

Some shaky moments early on and gazza and some poor finishing helped us massively yeah They were poor on the night but not many teams historically roll them boys over so easily. Very clinical job and surely qualify now. Lo celso was very good, ndombele was even better with a full array of tricks barring one obvious mistake but 90 full minutes under his belt. Long term I don't see Lo Celso on that performance playing out wide as we did lack width and with his creativity needs to play more centrally. Don't see him playing in a midfield 2 with ndombele either so they would need a proper def mid in between them meaning a front 3 of Son kane and a better third attacker frankly than what we have at present. Another huge snub for moura who failed again at the weekend, lamela injury prone and alli not quick enough to flank Kane.
Priority January now is RBk, def mid and a wide attacker.

Perspective needed red star are/were poor and could easily have scored 2.

It's no coincidence that without winks we move the ball about with much more purpose and that a player in LoCelso who actually wants to play and has some idea what to do with the ball is an instant upgrade on CE & Lamela.

Sheff Utd will be a sterner test and Poch will obviously be looking to undo any good work and consistency with his name's from a hat team selection on the weekend.

Well said. Red Star were surprisingly poor and it was easy to create chances and get behind their defence. Nevertheless, I am happy with the win, though not overly enthusiastic.

Ndombele should start instead of Winks. He has an eye for a pass and is willing to take risk to pierce the defence.

Great result and many positives. Ndombele was yet again very good. Lo Celso seems to have put his injury behind him and seem good. Son was as always very good. Maybe Alli and Ericsen are the two to rotate, neither is great in defence and both appear to like to the flashy things. I can't see both in a starting line-up. (Alli kind of reminds me of Chadli now, scoring and that is all).
I wasn't sure if Kane had been sick or not (I am often cynical, sceptical).... Based on what I saw then I got the impression that he actually had been sick as he was slightly off. Possibly someone coming back from a virus should not play the full 90 minutes.
Rose has either been instructed to be playing more centrally or it is just his natural instincts, Davies provides more width.
Foyth seems good but I'd prefer if he were out on loan and then maybe he'd learn from mistakes while playing for another club - he takes a bit more risks than I'd like from a defender. Dier is no longer, if he ever was, someone I like to see in a central back pairing. Sanchez used to be a player with bad luck, now the luck appears to be evening out.
& then about the corners.... Is anyone practicing taking them? The currently designated corner taker does not appear to have been practicing them and it seems that nobody else is practicing taking corners either :(

I am now very curious about what the starting line-up will look like on the weekend, was that match seen as the place to experiment or was that the team seen as the best by Poch :)

GLC knows how to kick corners well. Dier was terrible and the reason for Gazza to show what he can do. Eriksen scored. Kane should be kept off for Sat. Viruses last a few weeks.

Well it wasn't great but there were encouraging signs from the three newcomers - they sure as hell should be fresh.

Thought Dele and CE were shite. CB's defo a worry. Verts & Toby still the best option there. Foyth...mmm and is there ever a chance that Rose could learn to defend and not play so narrow.

Good to see Sonny put in a shift - difficult for him for sure.

Saturday - 4.2.3.1 Gazza, Aurier, Toby, Verts, Davies, Sissoko, Dier or Winks, NDombele, GLC, Son, Kane
