And doesn't this just hammer home what an absolute shambolic regime ENIC have enforced on the club ?

Literally the players and manager have to struggle to do well in spite of the sheer negligence and ignorance of the board.

Wohh there Remy mate , I'm not sure you're really looking at this with your eyes wide op. You must be assuming Toby and Christian are signing new contracts . Look nobody knows but the odds don't look too good on that front . Also no one seems to mention that our P.O.T.Y last year is 32 this April , the clock is certainly ticking on Jan's career I'm afraid .. You obviously think our full backs are up to standard , well again i.m.o there's only one out of the 4 up to the job and as for our goalkeeper situation , it hasn't been pretty for a while now has it . M.O.T.M yesterday but bar the pen he didn't make a save he shouldn't have i.m.o .. Truly shocking finishing from Leicester in all honesty . Now that's some serious surgery needed on our defencive line alone over the next year or two ..

Midfield , Winks and Sissoko have saved our ass's this year and deserve enormous credit but apart from Dier whom I'm not a fan of but that's irrelevant here , there's no cover at all .. listen for all they've done for us this year it's not a good enough central mid partnership to move us forward . Both deff should be options but we need more quality in there for sure .. And what if Christy goes , again nobody knows for sure but it doesn't look good does it . He can be infuriatingly inconsistent but he's absolutely key to the team and would take some replacing ..

All that without even mentioning some help for Harry and replacing the likes of llorente , Coco Nkoudou and the likes .. To me the days of this team just needing one or two proper signings are gone .. I really think we've missed the boat on that one . This squads going to need some serious surgery over the next year or two in all likelihood just to stay still i.m.o ..

There's a lot of speculation in it , that's a fact but given certain contract situations is there really anymore then people who are assuming these fellas will still be here next year or the year after .. And even more concerning , would anyone thrust our powers that be to get that type of surgery right or even a small portion of it ..

We really are in a fantastic position in the league given how things have played out but we equally are in a very precarious position looking into the not so distant future .. The house of cards as Felon calls it , it really looks like the correct description ... C.O.Y.S ......

There are some big obstacles that we're on the brink of facing , that's why it was imperative to solidify our position with a couple of proper signings these past 2 summers and made sure the likes of Toby etc were looked after.

True, but it is the first top noch squad Poch has ever produced. As such we didn't miss anything. He will get another made in a few years, since this one will fly apart regardless of trophies won. Poch can evidently build success every 4-5 years. Poch will be stupid to go to large clubs, they need results right away, no one will give him years. In other words, Poch is not pragmatist like Mourinio or Conte, he is a builder like Wenger. Since ENIC follow Arsenal footsteps, they must keep Poch for decades. He is a gift that keeps on giving.

Oh I don't know if things are that simple mate . Things change quickly in life but even quicker in football . It remains to be seen how patient Mr Levy might be after a couple of 5th or 6th place finishes as for the fans , well it's evident 2nd and 3rd place finishes aren't good enough by him for some of them even under the restrictions he's under . I also don't believe it's a straight forward task to find the quality players we need to strengthen never mind replacing guys like Toby or Christy . All transfers are a gamble to some degree regardless of ones previous success's and reputation's . We know that better then most . It's not that long ago we replaced Elvis with the Beatles .......

Wow, some fantasy world you've been or are hoping to be living in. Yeah, just wishing it won't make it so. In all your grandiose statements, the only one that I'd agree with is that I hope Eriksen signs. Without him, we'll be taking a couple steps back; Toby unfortunately is gone...we won't be getting him back.

I trust in Jan and Sanchez's partnership, Foyth, Carter-Vickers will be returning; Poch will be able to coach them. Our fullbacks are decent players, and we aren't a ManCity who can fork out 200 mil for 4 of them. In the middle, hopefully Waynama and Dier can both put these injuries behind them. Would definitely love to see another attacking playmaker come in to back Eriksen, Maddison would be my choice.

Any of one can make some absurd comments about bringing in world class players in their prime, but the reality is that isn't so. I am willing to bet that if Poch had today's Bale, he'd find a way to motivate him and make him into the world class player he is.

Maybe ' Doomsmonger ' would be a more apt description then ' Fantasy ' mate . I could accept that . I truly hope you are right though ..... C.O.Y.S ....

If spurs give top opposition the chances Lester had, they will get hammered. I have never seen spurs give up so many opportunities in one game.
The last 20mins was the worst i have seen spurs play this season, spurs were just humping the ball up field and allowed Lester to mount attack after attack. The inclusion of Skipp has to be questioned as he looks nowhere near 1st team ready. When spurs say there was no one who could improve this squad yet play an academy player that is not ready makes you wonder who levy/Mp thinks they are fooling. Wanyama, skipp and dier are the back up midfielders i see lots of room for improvement, in fact i would take tilermans over any of that lot.

Tielemans died a death after 20mins or so. Skipp will unfortunately only get better with game time and experience

You have a lot more faith in skipp than i do. Looks like another tom carrol in the making. Bog standard, like Dier.

I think spurs entered a new chapter. The pre-Poch years in Levy's tenure may now be forgotten, since they will not repeat. Unless ENIC sells Spurs Poch will be our manager. I may be wrong, if he accepts big club position. That is where you are right and Poch will not survive under short time results demand. He will be fired and then will find another smaller club that strives to become a bigger one. That is his niche. If he knows that already, he will not move.
Any top 4 finishes are good for Levy. Supporters do not matter, we all know that. Levy will not do LCFC at Spurs. He wants Spurs outgrow Arsenal and Chelsea, not just win EPL and go back to midtable or lower. To win year after year Spurs need to pay competitive wages, not only play UCL. That will allow to go and buy an established players and with academy help win some medals.
This current group can win the title. It is unlikely, but possible. Regardless, Eriksen will be sold in the summer and Tobi will be let go for 25 million. The money obtained will be invested in replacements, but most importantly academy products will be used to join Skipp and Winks. Poch evidently doesn't want to absorb new players every 5 months. It is easier for him to work with existing group and then buy the Beatles again and sort them out.

In fairness to Poch , it might be bit unfair to pigeon hole him just yet .. Who knows how he'd get on at a mega club until he tries . I do rate him very highly though and hope he stays where he is . He has his faults like everyone but overall what he's done here has been borderline miraculous i.m.o ....

Well barring a proper miracle top 4 is his 'achievement' again this year , finishing above the worst Arsenal side in 25+ years, a Utd side that had to sack Mourinho mid season and a Chelsea side that is all over the place with no striker.
Literally the only thing miraculous from Poch is that he didn't walk in the summer when he wasn't backed to actually achieve something.
We are the only club that would afford such patience as 5/6 + year projects that deliver zero silverware , the only other club that did this was Arsenal with Wenger who overstayed by a decade and had to be shoehorned out but at least he had history to fall back on.
All this ahead of project nonsense wouldn't cut it anywhere else plus Pochettino would be expected to buy players of a certain calibre that come with egos bigger than his own of which borders on stubborn, arrogant and sulky at times would only end in tears imo.

I thought at the start of the season that top four would be a struggle, and that it would be by far Pochettino's finest moment if we made/make it with the the problems we've faced (albeit mostly self-inflicted). I expected Arsenal and Chelsea to put up a better showing than they've so far managed, and assumed that Liverpool and City would have disappeared over the horizon by now, but our continuing presence in the top three is the biggest surprise, because we've played more or less **** all season, and have scraped our twenty PL victories in a way that George Graham's Arsenal would have been proud of. It's so unspursy that perhaps a CL/PL double is on the cards, but I don't really believe it, and fear that tonight might bring the thrashing that's been a possibility for most of the last six months - unless Sonny does his usual job on Dortmund, of course.
As for the future, our 'young' team is now middle-aged and verging on downright geriatric in places, and where is the fresh blood to come from? Even when Levy's wallet has been opened, Pochettino has not always bought wisely, so perhaps the financial constraints caused by the unending stadium debacle aren't such a problem, but why does the much-vaunted academy have so little to offer? Winks is the only regular first-teamer in Pochettino's fifth season, and the other prospects have generally managed a few disappointing cameos in domestic cup ties, perhaps a loan or two, and then disappearance into obscurity, here or abroad. I fear that competing for the Arsene Wenger Fourth Place Memorial Trophy is going to be the height of our aspirations for the forseeable future, with or without Pochettino.

Sry Felon I have to take this apart as IMO I think you're wide of the mark on this one.

It is indeed an achievement regardless of stating how bad the competition is around us. That's irrelevant. That they are not competing for top spot is their problem and shouldn't reflect on Spurs. In the past many points were dropped whether by loss or draw to lesser mid-table or lower teams. There's a lot more resilience this term, despite poorer quality on the pitch. That comes from the manager.
We can probably agree that we're of an ilk where silverware is the only thing we care about, so if there's a stone to throw at Poch it's that he hasn't won a cup. Fair do's. Pisses me right off.
You name the clubs not achieving as you would expect of them, but again there is at least 1 club above us achieving more than could be expected.

    This is very true.

But this comes from the new stadium 'project'. Levy/ENIC are only too happy to keep the millions coming in without player outlay. They are the problem, not the manager. In fact I'd love to see the back of Levy. Even if ENIC stay for a bit. I don't agree that there should be a manager rotation just for lack of silverware when he is not being backed up. Indeed I would say Poch's greatest achievement is in keeping this squad together without dressing room tantrums, bust-ups and transfer requests with players wanting to go to the 'bigger clubs', something every manager before Poch has had to contend with. Doing that and achieving top 4 is perhaps a miracle of the highest proportions. Recording highest points tally's season-on-season shows great continuity.

Probably every team outside the top 2 would want Poch as their manager, including bigger clubs around Europe.
What ego? Compared to who? Show me a manager that doesn't come across sulky or defensive (can be construed as arrogant) after a bad performance when emotions are high and raw. If you're basing your observations on Poch's post-match interviews then listening to media-savvy pre-composed soundbites is what you get. Forming an opinion of a human being on those criteria is pointless.
It's well reported that certain quality players have been sought at Poch's request, but missed no doubt in the most part due to finances or tinkering from Levy. Then don't forget there's players we could have bought but he vetoes - Barkley and Grealish were well avoided! - with good reason. No better or worse record than any other manager in that department without them having to operate on the purse strings of Levy.

I know Felon is really a fan of Poch and I agree every person connected with the running of our club should always be open to scrutiny. My comments come from watching the endless dross of previous managers come and go when you just know they were not up to the task of challenging at the top of the league. At least we're now challenging regularly and I love it! Just win a cup ffs...

There are other types (even in this forum although he seems to have disappeared whilst we're on a good run) who it seems want rid of Poch for the most unfathomable reasons, which I find rather uncomfortable.

Lets get in the new stadium and I would expect a trophy within 2 seasons assuming decent transfers are done. If not then re-address the Poch situation.

Of course it's relevant , it's easier to get in the Top 4

I think he has/is doing a good job I just think he gets massively over heaped praise and think a lot of his 'success' is just as circumstancial as it is his own work.
The stadium will be a millstone around our necks for the foreseeable and by the time we are anywhere near paid up over half this squad will be retired or moved on.
