So have we bought anyone yet?

I'm off to B&Q's for a long weight

I think the situation with Poch is simple, which is that he has worked a miracle with the resources he has, given zero net spend these past 5 years.

IMO nobody of the current top managers could have achieved more, nor would they stay around without regular investment. For that reason he is at risk of being lost to Manure.

Sure there are niggles, like the lack of use of KWP, even Llorente to ease the pressure on H, trying Foyth as a HMF, but these are relatively minor in the overall plan. Wolves was a big **** up, but apart from that and Watford we've not done too bad - 48 points when in the past 76 gets you CL, even though 80 is more like it this term, given the gap between the top 6 and the rest.

As for winning the league - beat Chelski, the Scousers and Sheik City away, then we're in with a shout...easy!!

just seen the team for tonight and once again he insults the supporters by pi cking a team that could come unstuck .The midfield includes a full back and another novice and no ball winner.Having followed the club since the sixties I treasure our cup wins and so should all Spurs fans.Bill Nicholson wouldn't have dreamed of fielding a weakened team nor would any English ma anger. It is only since the advent of foreign managers this has happened as they have never bought into the history of the competition which used to be televised the world over and to play in the final was every schoolboys dream. Please prove me wrong with a comprehensive win but don't hold your breath.

That must go down as one of the most bamboozling substitutions of all time .. Imagine if he got injured . He's a strange one is our Poch ....

Was thinking the exact same thing, I know he's just scored but why is Kane coming on at 6 - 0 up in an FA Cup game? Bizarre.

I think that's the thing though Peter, the FA Cup USED to be a big deal in the 70s/80s etc, but it's just...not, anymore. In other countries they've always cared relatively little for their domestic cup competitions e.g. in Spain, in Italy.
Don't get me wrong, if you win a domestic cup, cool, but it's not the be-all-and-end-all that it once was. Like it or not, big money changed the game, and it's league titles and Champions Leagues that the kids grow up dreaming about now.

Llorente was on fire so it was best to get him off and save him :)

Poch was asked about it and seemed genuinely bemused- he said he could get injured training, he thought it was good to give him a few minutes

As to the team selection, I don’t agree it was bad- obviously easy to say after we have thumped them!

But it was Tranmere and our second string which included many internationals and promising youngsters should be able to beat them easily. I’m sure if we had a full strength team everyone would have complained that they are too tired and may get injured, anyway hindsight and all that

Great result. Still in all competitions. Let’s hope Liverpool start to get nervous now and lose a few- don’t see it to be honest though. Although I also predicted Man City as. A slam dunk a few weeks ago!

Have to admit I thought we might get a draw tonight like last year, but that was a thoroughly professional performance.
No complaints with the selection or substitutions.
Just got to carry on and win the thing finally....!

I text my kids "wtf" when he came on, but what do I know, and he could indeed get injured in training. Didn't see that second half performance, but again what do I know. Well played lads and credit to all the travelling fans on a early Jan Friday, stellar!

Nice run out for the lads before spurs face the chavs and Man.u.
The chavs game is not a must win as it is over two legs, however, the Man.u is a bigger game at the moment and imo a must win. Coys.

Spurs accept 9m offer from Beijing Sinobo Guoan for Mousa Dembele.

7 years at the club almost, a completely forgettable player and waste of talent and time.

Seems to divide opinion but I think he's been quality for us. Bought for 12 sold for 9 after 5 or so years on relatively low wages. Could have been a world beater if not for injuries etc but his body has let him down now sadly the time is right for him to go earn a few quid. Would have loved to have seen him at his best of two years ago in this current 11. Good luck moose.

£9 mil with 6 months left on his contract? Good business and agree with Fran it's a shame injuries kept him out so much.
However, saying that I do believe the annoying sideways passing game has gone from the team since his demise so maybe his injuries were a blessing to the team as a whole, allowing faster, forward attacking play to develop.

REALLY need a clean sheet more than anything tonight, a couple of clear goals would be brill. So 2-0 says I. Hoping Block 132 will be bouncing at the final whistle!

Dembele has bossed some of the best, when at his best. He has played as many games as Verts and his overall playing record isn't that bad.
Looking at the state of the current spurs mid i would probably keep him until the end of the season. I do agree that Dembele's best days are gone, however, he could be used for 60mins and cameos as Spurs are still in 4 comps and the squad looks thin, the bench in the last two games has looked weak for a top 4 side.
Good result yesterday, however, it sounded like spurs were hanging on for the whole 2nd half. At least spurs have an advantage to take to the bridge. Manu on Sunday, it's time to end their recent run of wins. Coys.

Dembele has been out for weeks and the sideways passing still persists. In fact the worst for passing backwards and sideways is Dier, since he has been out of the team, the team has been more fluid from mid to attack.

We looked knackered I thought and this thin squad risks burn out if reinforcements aren't brought in.

Definitely need to add to the midfield area. Winks was out on his feet last night. Wanyama can't seem to get fit. Hopefully dier be bk soon and sissoko has been an unbelievable bonus in there for us. I think we need more pace and athleticism in there. Kondogbia or ndombele be nice. Also a right winger/CF.

I fear a resurgent Utd will run us harder than Chelsea and this is where our paper thin squad will struggle down the home stretch.

We've seen it before , we don't learn

Not sure it's so much paper thin more injury plagued. I'd trade in Dembele gkn llorente janssen for one quality signing.
