Swap deals are quite rare in the epl but if there was ever one to be done on player valuation and benefits/needs for both clubs and players alike, then it has to be Alderwield for Martial.

Not sure you get world class players for 60 to 70m these days when u look at gylfi 50m mahrez 60m richarlison 50m ousmane Dembele 80m and kovacic of real Madrid quoting 80m for him. Also keita 55m jorginho 60m. I dunno really the markets all over the place isn't it.
What I will say is if you want a player a club doesn't want to sell then you simply have to pay over the premium don't you. In this day and age probably 10-15m over.
I think a swap deal for martial could be in the offing but it's a standoff at present and if utd are waiting for Levy to blink they WILL be waiting a while. If we did land him hopefully that doesn't spell the end in our interest in Zaha if there is an interest in him at all.
The writings on the wall for janssen given Pochs comments today and llorente set to follow so something is going to Have to happen surely. Sissoko looks like he's going to spared the cull with GKN drinking in the last chance saloon.

It's amazing how Everton who are also 'paying for a new stadium' seem to be able to spend decent money.
Liverpool managed to increase their capacity and still spend money.

And then there's us playing the pauper as per usual despite the massive increase in revenue over the last 10 years, a wage cap and investing little to nothing into the side.

Yeah, crazy! This late in the market, it won't help us. There are some players whom getting rid of wouldn't impact our squad; Llorente, Nkoudou, Janssen, Edwards, and Sissoko to some degree. If that's the main core of the 7....then I'm not too worried. Just hope we can keep Rose, Toby, Dembele.

Agree. But there are still 15 days left to make us eat our words Felon.

I read N'Koudon, Edwards, Lorente, Jannsen, Sissoko, Danny Boy, Toby. The first 5 I would not lose any sleep over. Rose not sure? An the only way Toby go's to Utd is if Martial comes the other way for me.

    Agree unless Toby = Martial.

Don't feel levy has got his head round the current prices players going for silly money but what he has to remember what goes around will come around and he can also sell at a premium too.

Unfortunately that seems to be only what he wants to do. Sell at a premium!

I'm getting a bit anxious now. I hope he proves (me) the doubters wrong.

Everything that I would have said. For me next season it's all about CL. If we achieve that and go deep into domestic then for me it will have been a good season. I say this because it will take a season for our new home to actually feel like home so the advantage may not always be there. It'll be like Wembley for our visitors and they will surely raise there game. Hopefully with CL we may be able to keep most of our talent and move on. So CL this season but that's last chance saloon.

We know there are no guarantees with any signing but I truly believe to have continued progression/success this coming season we must add a top quality front man and replace Danny and Toby if they leave. Seems like Grealish is coming so a Martial and Andrea Gomes please Daniel.

With the suggested 5 + players up for sale. N'koudon, Jannsen, Lorente, Sissoko and Edwards there's the Andre Gomez money and plenty to cover his contract. Toby = Martial. Danny 40m. Maybe Shaw as a replacement. Grealish 25m. Plus money to replace Toby.

    Quick calculation 5 players = 60-70m? = Gomez and some change. 15m**?
    Toby = Martial = Nil in/out
    Danny Boy 40m. = Shaw 30m. up 10m** = **Grealish money.

So far books are balanced! So all we need to spend/invest is 40-50m to replace Toby.

    Wages saved. 5 players = 160-170k? Toby and Danny combined £120k? Total = 280-290k
    Wages gained. Martial 120k? Shaw 80k? Grealish 60k? Centre back £80k? Gomez 120k? = 460k.

An I think they would all come. Even the mystery 40-50m C/B on 80k!

If we cannot afford a 40-50m purchase and an extra 10m (20m including the new contracts for the remain-ers) in wages a year then we ain't ever gonna be a trophy winning club again.

No way will Gomes be going for anything near like 40m. I watch barca regularly and he was so so so poor even in a team that good which even made Paulinho half decent. 20m at best given barca need to balance the books desperately so. I'd suggest a loan with a view to buy option if he can get anywhere near like the form upon which barca signed him.

Just watching Roma v Spurs in the US. Can anyone tell me what attributes Aurier has and what he brings to the squad?

If you say he's quick, then Usain Bolt could do the same job! Get rid! He is a ball watching, going to ground, brainless defensive liability.

As bad as Aurier is, KWP and Lucas will show how valuable both will be this season.

Playing for a move I'd say.

Thing is he has got quality about him but Pochs stubborn 'philosophy' doesn't alter to play to his strengths when he has got on the pitch.
His 1st goal last night only came from a deflected shot that looped up like a cross, feed him them and hel get double figures no question.
Good to see Lucas getting involved last night though.

Didn't catch the game nor highlights.. But can just see levys ears pricking up at the thought of now not having to sign a striker now that llorente may actually come good. Wouldn't have minded Schurle of dortmund.
Think this was always the plan for moura to get a good pre season behind him and now hopefully see the very best of him which is a borderline world class player.

Good showing for some of the youngsters on the squad, Amos looks a real player. Kid dominated the midfield! Lucas' looking good, so is Llorente, CCV was calm and collected, KWP didn't show too much for me, everyone else was what we expected.

I'd like to disagree on Aurier, thought he had more than a decent showing...good positioning defensively and Poch's coaching some of those bad habits out of his game. Football ought to be about getting better year to year, this kid is definitely improving.
