Is it me or has this Team completely lost its way recently?

I don't know what Pochettino is playing at or where his head is right now because all I'm seeing is him distancing himself from the problems arising on and off the pitch.
Firstly there's nothing more disheartening than hearing the Gaffer writing off cups like they're worthless.
Then we've had the hint dropping that the project needs time 'maybe without him'.
The nonsense over the Kane Goal and the injury.
The bizarre rotating at the most crucial part of the season.
Lastly he's still staring glumly as games pass him by.

What the hell is going on?

So we've a manager who seems to have given up so then we need to look at the Captain....

Hugo Lloris the leader that wouldn't raise a single head if he screamed in a Library, surely the meekest 'captain' of all times.
Ok captains don't all have to be big shouting people but if they're not they need to lead by example, what is Hugo giving us these days other than flaps at crosses, poor kicking, scared intimidated looks .........

Perhaps we need to look at our star player Harry Kane, brought a whole heap of trouble on his self by crying on Twitter and lodging a case to have the most dubious of touches be counted as his goal in the hunt for a personal accolade. Yes it's been blown up by opposing fans and all but what did he expect a national rally behind him?
It's all got on top of him with a world cup looming, he looks unfit, shattered and lost recently.

Experience- Jan/Dembele/Alderweireld/Rose, We all love the Belgians they all have top quality about them but what they ooze in class they severely lack in Winning Mentality hence why Belgium on paper are one of the best in the world but tournament wise do nothing. Jan has had his best season, Dembele has to be the most technically gifted player to have never really done anything that game changing or effective, Toby has been extremely poorly managed by both Manager and Board to the point no one knows is he in out shake it all about? , Danny Rose has caused his own problems but he can see he can earn more and actually win elsewhere.
So with Toby/Jan the brylcreem brothers, Moussa I'm so good il do everything at my own pace and head turned Rose who's pulling the side together on the pitch?

With the aforementioned (bar Jan) all looking dubious and in need of replacing soon where are we gonna find some experience/know how?
Seems a lot similar recently to Redknapps last season repeating itself.

2 more games to Rescue the Season by securing Champions LG football , its like the teams given up and have all gone on their own damage limitation exercise so I'm asking can someone/anyone wake up and Lead this Team!

So all of a sudden we're looking very lost. Didn't watch the Baggies game live, so watched Sky GOTD....mmmm. better things could have been done with 90 minutes, for sure.

We just NEVER threatened. Okay Kane was unlucky to hit Foster's head, but these things happen. Serious loss of form, confidence, energy, desire to deliver, all of these.

As for a leader on the pitch. Everybody who ever played, at whatever level, never, that's NEVER made the goalie the skipper. Too disconnected from the action. Your keeper needs TOTAL focus, and getting up the backside of players can't be done from your penalty area.

As for who will lead us to success these last two games - well I'm with Kane. Whilst he looks shot, he MUST want this. Finish like last season - 7 in 2 - or just score the winners H, or a couple of assists.

Soon your country will need you, but first there is a job to finish. H show us that you can....

    COYS

Yes Baz -Never have a 'keeper as captain, and never have someone who doesn't say anything either. You don't have to be the World's Best Player to skipper the side but you do have to have honesty of effort with the personality that shouts "I'm giving it my all, so you feckers better do the same or you'll hear me". Steve Perryman was a perfect example of such a figure - I don't see anyone remotely near him in the present side. Look who we had in days gone by - Blanchflower, the Sainted Dave Mackay, Mike England, Graham Roberts, Stevie. J*esus - I wouldn't like to have played with any of them and give less than 100%. Changed times.

Spurs are not the team they thought they were. They are weak in certain positions. Also,we are carrying 3 players as subs.Bill Nicholson once said, your first team are only as good as your reserves.

Agreed with the lack of a leader on the pitch. Someone to take maybe not the game itself by the scruff of the neck but someone that could take the PLAYERS by the scruff of the neck and get them running through walls for the team. Liverpool had Gerrard and they won trophies with him. Chelsea won plenty with Terry. We need someone like this desperately.

Poch has taken us as far as he can! We need someone that has won trophy’s and has a set of balls to change things when it ain’t working rather than same tactics, same players starting, same too late substitutions oh and same f**k**g bullshit excuses before and after games! I mean we play wiv 1 striker so who the f**k buys a back up striker who can’t even make the bench???? If we don’t make top 4 poch is to blame!

Spurs need full support of its fans. Show some it, if you can't offer anything better. Enough of the unfair criticism already! No need to explain that CL is a greater trophy than FA Cup. Spurs have enough critics in those who do not wear lilywhite.

Been following Spurs for 45 years, 3rd, in 2016, 2nd in 2017, 3rd or 4th in 2018. Can't remember ever being this close.

The Capt should be the player that the others respect. Dino Zoff won it all as skipper for Italy and Juve in the 80s including pulling together a wounded Italian team to win the World Cup in 1982.

Anyway...we can do this. We’ve been a great run that has (potentially) given us a false sense of expectation. If we look at the season, it has been a success. Wembley is not a curse, in fact it’s a fortress, we have finished above Woolwich again, in fact it’s been so easy that we haven’t even talked about it. The CL campaign - save for 8mins of calamity has been a success. The only real let down was the semi final. We need these 2 wins but we’re at home against two sides with either their beach towels out or managerial incompetence of gigutaun propensities. I’m predicting a top 3 finish and a strong summer. COYS.

I'm surprised to see a 'like' from Felon for this post; surely calling our CL campaign a success apart from the Juventus disaster is comparable to asking Mrs Lincoln how she enjoyed the play - we could be looking forward to the CL final 'save for 8mins of calamity'! It's calamities like those, or Dembele's stupidity in losing the ball to Pogba in the FA Cup semi that make the difference between success and failure, and the willingness of so many Spurs supporters to treat yet another blank campaign as a success is what consolidates us as the perennial bottlers. Whether we get the necessary points for CL qualification this season probably depends more on Newcastle and Leicester than on us, and that's a sad indictment of the current state of Tottenham Hotspur.

I think it was parts of the post I Liked, you know I am in total agreement with u Cheshuntboy about the ridiculous dressing up failure and excuses culture that is deeply inbedded in our fan base and club, which is infact more Negative than these glass half full jam tomorrow types that cannot have criticism aimed at the club can or will ever understand.

They absolutely do and always will have my total support. Observations on here are always based on what I see in front of me. I'm a committed fan, albeit a little worried at this time.

I think we've been stellar, for the most part. Last year was the best season, by a country mile for me, at The Lane. This season in the Champions League we beat top class sides and we've coped with the upheaval of Wembley well......just need to get our chests across that line first....COYS.

  15. This leadership question is one I’ve been asking the past couple weeks.

Is there a leader even in the dressing room? Who is most respected who gets on the other players, who is perhaps Poch’s lieutenant in the trenches?

My first thoughts are Jan or Christian on the field. Both are gifted but don’t exhibit some fiery nature.

So, although he may still be a bit young, i’d like to see Poch grab Dier by the metaphorical balls and tell him to take command out there and become the hardened boss to lead by example.

I do think in the round it's been a good season. For me the semi final was lost with the selection as much as invididual mistakes from various players. At the elite level you can't make these mistakes - like Sanchez converting the cross unchallenged. No Toby, Lloris. This response is made on the basis of success in the last two games....squeaky bum time.

Actually Dier has played with some fire and energy of late, when others haven't.....I'd give it to Jan or Toby personally.

I think I'd be more inclined to go along with you if everything about Spurs for the past four years hadn't played out to a background of 'look how much better everything is under Pochettino - he's the best in the PL/Europe/The World', when his failings on and off the pitch (favourites like Lamela, dodgy buys like Sissoko and too many others to list, no plan B, ineffective use of subs, stubbornness and egotism as demonstrated by freezing out Walker and Alderweireld - I could go on but won't) are there for all but the most blinkered to see.
Whatever happens this week, we'll have a lower league position and points total than last season, and while Wembley provides a legitimate excuse in the PL, our cup exits have all been avoidable, and should have been if the team had been selected and managed properly. It will be astonishing if the core of the side isn't weakened over the summer; apart from Alderweireld and Rose, Eriksen is strongly rumoured to want out, and even Kane might very well be considering his position after the sneers and ridicule he's suffered in the past few weeks - why be a laughing-stock in England when you can triple your money in Spain and be a hero again?
At the absolute best we've been treading water while the Mancs have pushed-on, and I don't expect we'll see a genuine title challenge any time soon, with or without Pochettino, and that's what's so frustrating - there was a window of opportunity, certainly in 2016, less so in 2017, but we missed the chance and are in danger of becoming Arsenal's rivals for 'best of the rest', the title we held under Jol and AVB. Prove me wrong Spurs, please!

What a first 45. Just WHAT can you say ? Even my prediction of 2 draws is looking a tad optimistic to say the least. An awful performance and I won't say it can only get better.
