Would you have said the same a couple of years ago about Paulinho playing for Barcelona?

You never know.. Silva is obviously a true great.. the reference was more in terms of becoming considered world class.

Lamela is technically good enough to play for anyone.. the question is does he have the nous.. to this point it would appear not.. but stranger things have happened.

As for the Cup.. if Wembley was ever go to be an advantage then this is it.

I think we win it.. or get rooked in the process.

None of the last three is going to outplay us on our home pitch.

Yes I would - and plenty of others would too. He didn't look a Barcelona player to too many I suspect, but when you're talking "Barcelona player" you're always leaning towards the stereotype of more hugely technically gifted, and Paulinho isn't that. However, he's done alright for them and I'm pleased for him, if a tad surprised. Saying that - I think it's easier for a player of Paulinho's skill set to adapt than it would be for Lamela to up his game, never mind the mental change required, and the Spanish game suits him more than the sometimes hoof and chase of the "World's Best League" (copyright SKY SPORTS). There's a number of players who've started as a striker/ midfielder/ defender and then found their niche doing something else. John Giles and Steve Perryman spring to mind immediately as lads who moved and found greater success. I'm sure if I sat and thought long enough I'd get more.

So back in the day when we purchased Paulinho, you would never have thought that, these years later he's on the pitch, at the highest level, playing for the mighty Barcelona.

How did he do for us....he was total shite, an embarrassment.

Are there comparisons to Lamela. Possibly, except he's still here and therein lies this conflict that fills the heads of Spurs fans. He has some talent and in some ways more than Paulinho....not difficult. He works hard, so we like that. He is rash, we don't like that. We view that he is still young enough to come good, and being Spurs fans we feel he might, just might, be like having a new, big money, signing. At a time when the chances of big money acquisitions are in doubt. So we tolerate Lamela after a rare decent performance. It's not that we think he will finally deliver. We are Spurs. We hope, just hope, he will.

That's in our DNA ain't it - it'll never change. Whether it's hoping for a bit of tin at the end of a decent season or hoping some hitherto brock, though hideously expensive, player will suddenly be Mackay/ Gilzean/ England or Hoddle reincarnate. Been a rollercoaster ride as long as I can remember - and it'll probably stay that way.

Paulinho maybe at Barca but hel always be the type of player that's scared to stand up in a wall for his team when the chips r down.

Just showed his 'Commitment' good f_ckin riddance
